CHAPTER TWENTY

I could feel my legs start to drag across the floor through the crowd. No one seemed to pay me any heed at the fact that I was being dragged by some crazy man and I was a drunken mess. My eyes were a bit blurred but I still searched through the club for Gina or Jamie. Jamie was no where in site. Even though I was drunk I still tried to hit at him but no luck. He didn't seem to care. Going through the crowd slowed us down towards the exit. My words were at a slur as I tried telling him to let me go. He didn't care and he was just as drunk as I was.

"Let me go!" I said again and he held my arm tighter. Now would be the best time for Jamie or Gina to notice I wasn't with them and look for me. That's when I spotted Jamie near the bar. Oh good, "JAMIE." I screamed over the loud music but she was flirting with the bartender and didn't seem to hear me. She was a few ways away so I assumed she could hear me. I called her name again and the man turned around to face me as he pulled me in hearing distance, "Shut your mouth or I'll make you regret it." He said squeezing my arm even tighter. I still struggled as he had a satisfied look on his face when I didn't call Jamie again. But when he turned back around he bumped into someone. At first I didn't recognize him until he spoke,

"If you don't let go of her arm, I'll break yours." Connors voice was barely audible but I knew it was him as I looked up at him, his eyes completely fixated on the dark tall and handsome man who had me by the arm. Though Connor was tall, the man who held me was taller and muscular. He grinned at Connor, "Look it here pretty boy, she's mine so I suggest you turn around before I hurt you. There are plenty of other drunken women here." He pushed Connor but Connor didn't budge. Not only was I surprise that Connor was here, I couldn't believe how fast my heart was beating just staring at him. I wanted to call his name but I didn't want to sound stupid or let him notice I was wasted.

"Oh, we've got a tough guy huh!" the man said, letting my arm go and taking a swing at Connor but in a blink of an eye, Connor dodged the hit and grabbed the guys arm, twisting it in the back the guys back and now Connor was between the man and I, his back facing me. I then watched as Connor stretched his arm until I heard bone crack and the man screamed in pain. This got a few of the peoples attention around us. Connor threw the man on the ground and turned around to face me, "Are . . . " He stopped and looked at me, raised eyebrows as his eyes looked me up and down. My face went red at the attention. He then scrunched his eyebrows together, "Lets go." he said. I didn't argue and looked over to see Gina, who now was looking at us. She was walking towards where Connor and I now stood. I turned around and watched as Jamie was now standing in front of us. Connor grabbed my hand and growled at Jamie as Jamie's eyes went wide and she seemed to take a defensive stance in front of us. Connor did the same and Gina approached us,'

"What the hell are you doing back?" she said to Connor. Connor ignored her completely as his eyes glared at Jamie. Jamie looked between Connor and I and then down at Connor holding my hand.

"Eryn, if I were you, I'd get away from him." Jamie said, now glaring at Connor. Connor looked back at me, "You know her?" he asked and I looked confused as I nodded, "She's one of my closest friends." I answered Connor. Jamie looked at me dumbfounded, "You know him?" she asked. I nodded, "He's a friend  of . . ."

"I'm her mate." Connor cut me off, answering. Even drunk I knew he just told Jamie I was his mate. What really shocked me was that Jamie's expression towards me, fear. She took a step back, "Your mate?" she said to him. Wait, was I missing something. Did she just sound like she knew what a mate was. Gina stepped between the two, "Okay, just hold on a minute, what is up with the idiot on the floor?" she asked, as I stared down at the man crying and babying his arm that I assumed Connor broke.

"He tried to take me back to his place." I said and Gina seemed furious as she kicked the man that had already been down. He grunted at her kick. Jamie sighed, "I . . . I have to go." she said, turning away and walking back towards the exit.

"Jamie . . . Wait!" I try to say as I took a step forward but stumbled as Connor quickly caught me, "Whoa." he said and I set my hand over my head, "I don't feel so good." I said and he picked me up into a bridal hold and carried me out towards the exit. I leaned my head against his rock hard chest as I set my arm over his shoulder. The movement of his walk was smooth and the sound of his heart beat was music to my ears. I snuggled up against him letting the smell of his cologne seep into my nose. We got outside to the fresh air and he set me on my feet, "You okay." he said, looking into my eyes. I felt a bit dizzy but fine thanks to the air. Gina stood next to me, "Where did Jamie go and what the hell was your probelm?" she asked Connor. Connor set a piece of hair behind my ear and intwined his fingers with mine, "Your Jamie friend is a wolf." he said bluntly.

"She's a wolf?" Gina asked, surprise in her voice. I looked up at Connor, "Wait, how . . .  That's impossible. How is that." I stopped talking because I was now slurring the words. Connor lifted my chin, "You need water." he said, now walking. Gina followed behind, "Wait, my car is here." she said, pointing to her white car infront of the club. Connor didn't care to look back, "I brought Draydens car. We'll see you back at her place." he said and Gina grunted but went towards her car, got in and started it up. I was trying to follow his steps without seeming unable to.

"I'm gone for a week and you decided to go out to a club!" he said, not staring at me. I looked up at him, "I just . . . Gina . . . I was having fun." I said, putting the words together, not too successful but good enough. He then looked at me, "Did you have to dress like that?" he asked, his face masked with an angry stare. I could feel the needles darting me from his stare.

"I . . ." he cut me off, "Your too drunk to think." he said, his tone sour. From the words he was saying, I could feel the hurt in his voice but how he was talking to me was upsetting. I pulled my hand away from him, "Then don't bother taking me home." I said, now turning around and walking back towards the club. He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him, "Don't be such a baby. Your drunk, not fully dressed and can't even walk right."

"Screw you Connor." I said, trying to pull my hand away. He held it tight, "Your being ridiculous. Your drunk and look like you dressed blind." he said and my hand automatically smacked him across the face as he went surprised, letting my hand go. The smack was hard because my hand started to throb and I could see the redding of a hand print on his face, "Don't you dare come to my house." I said, standing infront of him, my heart speeding up because I was so angry. I've never felt so belittled in my life. He had no emotions on his face as he turned around and started to walk away. The tears started to form now and I was shaking. I turned around slowly and started to walk back to where I could hear the music. The chilling of the wind ran up my arms as I wiped the tears from my eyes. I was so hurt and yet so alone. I didn't have a way to get home now.

"Eryn!" Connor's voice came and I turned around where he stood, his head down and then lifted it to stare at me,"I'm so sorry." he said. He slowly started to walk towards me as I was about to take a step back but he already had his arms around me, hugging me tight, "I'm so sorry for making you cry." he said, pulling me out at arms length and gently wiping the tears that flowed down my cheeks. I couldn't help the tears that continued to fall as he pulled me into a gentle hug. I let him hug me as my arms wrapped around him. He kissed the top of my head, "I'm so sorry." he said, combing his fingers through my hair now and kissing my head again.

"Lets go home." he said and the way he said home made me nod against his chest. Having him close enough to touch made me happy. We walked hand in hand to the black mustang. He opened the door and I got in and he closed it. Seconds later, he got into the driver side of the car, started it and guided the car onto the street.

The ride was quiet and the tears had dried. I was sobered up because he stopped at a gas station to get me water and something to eat. I was wondering why he was back early, Caine said he would be here next week. I stared out the window of the car, watching as the buildings lit up the streets of New York. The radio was off and he cleared his throat,

"Are you okay?" he asked me. I looked at him,

                                           "Yeah, thank you." I answered.

"Caine said you'd be back next week. What happened to that plan?" I asked. He looked at me for a second and then back on the road, "I wanted to surprise you. Before I got your place, Caine notified me and said you told him you were going to be at the bar. I contacted Greg and he said you weren't there. I told them not to say anything to your uncle and I would find you. Your smell lead me to the club. I probably should have said I was g'oing to surprise you." He finished.

"I hate surprises." I said and he smiled, "I know." He then surprised me when he set his hand onto my hand. I looked at our hand together and then at him as he smiled, "I'm glad your safe." I smiled at him. Then the whole Jamie being a wolf came to mind,

"Why where you so defensive at the fact that Jamie was a wolf. Which is still a shock to me." I said and he kept his eyes on the road,

"As an Alpha for the strongest pack on this side of the world and maybe anywhere else, it's my duty to know every wolf that steps foot on American soil. As an Alpha, I can sense other wolves ability and know their strengths. She surprised me because she was a strong wolf, beta type and I don't know who she is or what pack she is from. I wasn't on her packs territory and I knew she wasn't a rogue. But she seemed to not know who I was. Not to claim anything but any wolf that knows when an Alpha is present knows to back down. She was prepared to fight." he finished.

"Jamie a wolf. That's almost as surprising as knowing she had a tattoo." I said. He laughed, "Well, she's fiesty alright. I can see why you and her are freinds." he said and I laughed. She was shocked that I was mated with Connor, which I wouldn't blame her for. Connor said he didn't know her pack, maybe she didn't have one. One thing for sure, she now knew I was associated with wolves and a sucubus. But if she knew Gina was a sucubus, why didn't she say anything before or maybe she didn't care. To think that Jamie was a wolf is shocking all at once. I sighed and leaned my head against the window of the mustang as I watched ahead at the dirted road Connor now drove on.

Connor's warn hand hadn't left my hand as we pulled up and my house was lit up like a Christmas tree. Seriously, had Caine ever heard of conserving power. Connor wsa quick to be at the passenger side just to open my door and help me out. I still felt a bit light headed as I took his hand that was held out to me and he pulled me out. The front porch screen door opened and Caine was walking down the steps and from the look on his face, he wasn't too happy.

"You and Gina have it out for me." he said, his voice having a hint of anger in it. I felt sorry for him because every time I'm in his care, I have ways of disobeying him and than getting him in trouble with Connor. Connor laughed, "It's okay Caine. She's okay. Next time, just follow her." Connor said. Caine glared at me,

"Oh, I will. I'll keep my eye on her where ever she goes. Good thing Brody didn't find out or he would have me." I wanted to forget about Brody but since Connor said he didn't tell him, I didn't worry about it. Connor and Caine helped me into the house and Connor guided me to my room as Caine stayed down stairs. Connor sat on my bed as I took a warm shower. He didn't want to leave my side until he was sure I was in bed. I got dressed in the bathroom, letting my hair air dry as I entered my room where Connor was looking through my side drawer. I was feeling a bit better but still could feel the little booze in my system. The shower felt good though.

"Find anything?" I asked Connor. He wasn't shocked that I was entering the room, wolf senses but he was surprised at the shorts and tank top I was wearing. That devilish smile appeared on his face as he raised an eyebrow, "No." I went red as I quickly walked to my closet and grabbed a sweater, throwing it on. He was already making himself comfortable on my bed as I folded my arms, "What do you think you are doing?" I asked.

"I just thought you'd need me to cuddle with just in case you  . . ."

"Get out of the bed and out of my room. I'm sure I can handle sleeping." I said, cutting him off. He grunted but did do as I asked. He stood in the back of me as I fluffed my pillows and when I turned around, I was facing him now, inches away from his face. His smile had softened and he gently stroked my cheek as I froze and the goosebumps traveled up my arms.

"I'm really glad you're okay. Being away from you was too long for me." he said and I was taken back as he leaned in, his lips meeting mine. My eyes widened and he gently cupped the back of my head as his kiss got deeper but I welcomed it. It must have been the alcohol but I felt frisky at the moment and his body was calling it. His kiss got a bit rougher and I felt my body start to fall on the bed as the softness of it was sunk in from the pressure of both of us on it. His kisses continued to tease my lips but then trailed it's way to my bare neck and my body was liking every aspect of it. The small breathes quickened as his hand started to crawl under my tank top and gently caress the flatness of my belly. His kisses then made it's way to my belly as the the chills of it made me go weak and the breathing deepend. The moans that escaped my mouth seem to make him want more because his breathing was warm to my skin. Was this the time of the mating? Was he going to take my innocents? If so, I was willing to give it to him.

[His wolf is calling] the voice said. I froze but his kisses continued as it made it's way back to my neck. There was no headache.

[At last, it shall be done].
