CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

{Connor's POV}

     I could feel a glare on me and when I turned to see who it was, Gina didn't care that I looked at her she still kept the glare on me. I knew what was going through her head 'Why the hell didn't I go after her?' I didn't know why. The slap in the face? The way she looked at me? Everything that just went wrong. And then her looking at me when Maria was wiping the blood off of me. Why did I act as if I did something wrong? She looked between Maria and I and yet I felt as if I had done something wrong.

                [You did! Idiot!] my wolf bit. I could feel him wanting to shift so we could run after her but I couldn't let him out. Why? Every inch of me wanted to but yet I went still. Instead, I told Caine to go after her. I froze. Fuck! I really just froze. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck! From the smile on Brody's face, which I wanted to wipe off, he too knew I just fucked up! It was simple Connor; take a few steps, run and then talk it out with her. BUT NO, you want to be stubborn and stay at the bar. WITH MARIA! Dammit, Maria. Why the hell are you even here?

               [Idiot] my wolf yelled inside. Can he just shut the hell up for a bit.

               [No. You just watched as our mate walked out of the bar and yet, your still here] He was right. What was I still doing here. It should be me at the house, not Caine.

                [Seems you have brains and balls after all] my wolf said excitedly and if I wasn't mistaken a small chuckle was heard. I didn't think too much on it as I finally walked towards the exit,

                "Connor!" Maria called out but I didn't turn around,

                "Drayden, you all clean this mess and I'll have Caine on his way to come help. I've got some business to attend. No one follow. Including you Maria and that's an order." Drayden nodded and I was out of the bar in seconds.

{Caine's POV}

     The ride to Eryn's home was a bit quiet. Sometimes I wondered what went through our Alphas brains. It should be him in this car with her, not me. And she was quiet meant she was pissed. Even I could see the steam exiting her head. I felt as if I was in the line of fire between the both of them. To top it off, Maria was here. Why in all the world was she here. Easy, she still loved Connor. She-wolves these days. Ten minutes until we reached Eryn's house and not even the music was on but I didn't dare turn it on. Maybe she wanted it quiet. It was way too quiet for me. Okay Caine time for blond jokes to yourself. How does one drown a blond? Put a scratch and sniff at the bottom of a pool! Ha, that's always a good one.

                "Are you okay?" Eryn suddenly asked. I looked at her with confusion, "Yeah! Why?"

               "You were smiling awkwardly. You didn't fart, did you?" she asked me as I raised a brow and then let a small grin pass my face, "No. I was . . . I was just telling myself jokes. It's too damn quiet in this car." I admitted.

               "Oh . . . " she said reaching over to turn the music. She let some crazy rock music erupt her stereo.

              "What kind of music is this?" I asked as the screaming continued. She looked at me, "Real music."

               "Holy shit! This is 'come kill me music' You ever heard of R&B?" I asked and then changing the station. Trey Songs started to play and I started to snap my fingers to the beat. I looked over at her as she rolled her eyes, obviously not in tuned with it. Then a part of the song I knew as I sung along with it,

                "Cause we don't buy no drinks at the bar. We pop champagne cause we got that dough . . ." she shook her head not liking it at all. I was enjoying the song a bit too much and then my senses where interrupted as the smell of rogues made me look out of my window in the darkened deserted area. In an instant, I could see one running towards the car,

                "ERYN WATCH OU-" I started but the full formed wolf smacked straight into the 70mph speeding car and in a flash I looked over to Eryn and the horror on her face was all I needed to confirm that we were flipped into the air. I watched in shock as her body was being tossed up and down in the car as it started to roll now onto what I think was nothing but dirt. In an instant I quickly communicated to the pack,

                 "We're being attacked by Rogues, we are-" I didn't finish as the car door on my side was ripped open and I was pulled out of it.

{Connor's POV}

     What was I going to say when I did see her? I'm sorry? Ryan is really a weird asshole who I could of shredded to pieces but since you got in the way, I cooled it? Ryan Voulder. Out of all the packs in the world, his pack was the one to show and he was the one Eryn knew. The Deep Forest Pack . . . Really? I knew the pack quite well, they were second to us in the USA but that's all they were. He was arrogant and irritating. He was a show off and obviously showing off in front of Eryn. Even as an Alpha for his pack, I still didn't give him the respect he thought he needed. Even his football team, which he was captain of, didn't compare to Drayden's team. Damn him and his pack. I could feel my anger start to boil again. Eryn and Caine should be home by now and since I was running in human form, I let the night take me in. The night air was really kicking in. I let my feet pick up pace but then Caine's voice filled my head,

                 "We're being attacked by Rouges, we are-" and then silent.

                 "Caine. CAINE!" no response.

                 "Connor! Did you get that?" Drayden asked as I now went full form.

                 "Yes. Leave the bar now-"

                 "We're already on our way." Drayden announced. I was at full speed now. The ping in the pit of my stomach was just a small sting, meaning Eryn wasn't damaged too bad. But no word from Caine had me worried still.

     I watched as Caine was flung out of the car as I tried to move out of my seat. Before I knew it, my door was ripped open and I was grabbed by the hair and pulled out of the car. A yelp exited my lips and I was now on my side, laid in dirt. My car light illuminated a huge wolf that I went wide eyed to. Then the wolf transformed into his human form and he looked so familiar.

                 "She's conscious." a female voice said from in the back of me. I assumed she was the one who pulled me out. Only women were bitchy enough to pull hair. Then another man appeared from in the back of the wolf who transformed into his human form.

                 "Caines conscious also." the deep husky voice announced. They knew Caine. I stared a bit blurred eye at the man that looked familiar to me. Dark pitch black hair, tall, muscular and naked. The other man handed clothes to the naked man. He just threw on the jeans and let his perfect form show. Why did he look so familiar? Then I looked to where Caine lay, he was staring at me and his eyes were in shock as he now stared up at the man with no shirt. As if seeing a ghost. The woman grabbed me by the hair and pulled me up to look at her,

                 "This is what Connor's going crazy over?" she said as I stared into her blue eyes. Her short blond hair was over one of her eyes and her deep red lipstick schussed at me. She threw my head back down. For a bitch she wasn't too ugly. The half naked man then walked over to me, bent down to his knees and lifted my head by the chin. I was now staring into the light green eyes of a stranger. He let go of my chin and stood up,

                 "For now, we're sending a message." his deep voice was almost hypnotizing. Caine's face was still pale as he now looked down into the dirt and then at me. He'd gone silent and still. What was going on? The other man, also with blond hair, knelt down to Caine and picked him up by the collar,

                "This shall be fun." he said to Caine. The half naked man looked over to the other man, "Whatever you do, make sure they don't leave alive. I want Connor to hurt." he said and I watched as he walked past me. The other man had an evil look on his face with an evil grin to match. Caine didn't even fight it off, his stare was still on the man who had walked past me. I was then kicked from behind, feeling the pain start to rise in my back,

                "Shall I kill her now?" the woman asked.

               "Let Andrus handle it. You, Angel, come with me."

              "But Dante, I wanna-" the woman started but the man she just called Dante answered, "Or die with the both of them?" Nothing else came from Angels lips as I could now hear them both walk away. Dante? Why did that name sound familiar? I looked over to where the Andrus guy stood, Caine still in his clutches. To make sure the others were gone I sat up and tried to get up,

              "Don't Eryn!" Caine finally spoke. I looked at him, "Caine-"

              "Don't worry pretty girl, your's shall be slow and fun." he said and I couldn't help but want to throw up. The man was a total brute. His leather jacket not even able to cover his muscular form. His neck had more muscles then his arms. He then pulled Caine towards him,

              "I never really like you." he said and Caine just glared at him but in an instant, kicked him where it hurt as the man doubled over. Caine was now out of his clutches as he ran over to me,

               "Get up and run!" he said and then in an instant, he transformed. He was huge, not as big as Connor but big enough. You could tell the distinction from the color of there fur. Caine was a darker gray compared to Connor's pitch black fur. I scooted back but watched as the other man, Andrus transformed. Not only was he bigger then Caine but he looked as if his wolf was taking steroids. His fur was a dirt blond color, almost the same color as his hair. The wolf snarled and Caine snarled back. My legs didn't want to get up as I stared at the two huge wolves fighting each other. I watched as Andrus hit Caine across the face and Caine went down but just for a moment as he picked himself up and tackled Andrus. They rumbled on the dirt for a bit before Caine was now on top of Andrus, clawing at his face.

     I had to hurry and get out of the area, at least to my home that was a bit a ways out but running would let me get there faster. I finally got up, seeing that Caine was still at Andrus throat. I then started to run. In a few minutes I halted because of the horrible howl of pain that erupted from in the back of me. From my heart already beating faster then I could think, I turned around and Caine's back was now facing me. A smile spread across my face but quickly left as Caine fell to his knees. And Andrus came into view his claw painted red. Caines wolf form started to slowly change until he was his human form again and he was clutching at his side but I could see, from where I stood, blood oozing out.

             "Ca- CAINE!" I screeched now running back to where he lay. He started to crawl towards me but Andrus picked him up by the neck, now back in his human form and smiled at me, "Pups blood!" he swooned and then licked the blood off of his hand as his other hand started to squeeze around Caine's neck. No. Please don't kill him, I was saying to myself, running towards them but the look on Andrus face went ashen and out of nowhere, he was taken down. I didn't stop running, not caring who or what took him down. My focus was on Caine. My breath had ran out but I didn't care for the ache in my side or my legs throbbing, Caine was now laying on the ground still clutching his side. Finally reaching him, I quickly took my black shirt off, letting my tank-top cover me and set his head onto my lap,

              "Caine, your going to be alright." I tried to say but I was staring at the wound and from the blood pouring out of it I knew the wound was deeper then it looked. I wrapped the shirt and forced it against the wound, putting pressure to it. I couldn't stop my fast breathing nor the tears that started to pour. He was breathing harder then I was and then he coughed out blood.

               "Hang-" My tears had turned to a water fall as I now noticed his skin start to turn pale.

              "Hang on. Do-on't worry Caine . . . It's going to be alright." I tried to comfort him as he held onto my arm, the blood smearing onto me. His shaking was worse and I pressed onto the wound hard, hoping to slow the blood but even my shirt was soaked. His green eyes stared up at me and I smiled down at him, my tears non-stop,

             "It's going to be okay. Don't close your eyes. I'm here. Ple-" I had to sniffle the tears back to get the words out. His breathing was slowing as his smile started to falter. More blood poured out and I finally looked up and now wondered where Andrus had gone and who had saved us. Caine coughed again and his breathing had died down.

            "Caine! Caine!" I said, the tears falling fast and I started to shake him, "No Caine, please wake up." His eyes were still open but he wasn't breathing anymore. His body went limp and I shook him to wake up. No movement. I didn't let go of him. My heart was already aching and my hand had been holding his. He went cold and pale. The night had gone silent. No wind to it or the sound of a heart beat I'd hope I'd hear from Caine. Nothing. Not even the sound of death. He was gone. His lifeless body lay in my lap as the tears kept on falling. I moved the hair that was in his face and watched my tears fall onto his face. Never had I had anyone die infront of me. Never anyone I've come to care for.
