Chapter Thirty-Four: Part 2 - Final
Chapter Thirty-Four: Part 2 - Final
Six months Later:
I stood in front of a house marked number 10. An old Buick was parked to the side of the curb when I walked up the stairs to the fading red paint of a two story home. Small nerves ran up my arms but I didn't know why I was so nervous. Well I did but it was still a wrecking moment for me. This was it though, I was coming face to face with my adoptive grandparents. The people who took my mother in. Thanks to doctor Victor for the information of where they were located, I took the first flight out to Aurora, Colorado. I let a breath of nervousness exit my lips. This was almost as bad as figuring out a punishment for Angel and Maria. That was six months ago though. I still remembered the incident of Dante trying to kill us all off as if it was yesterday.
After Dante took off and after Connor had the pack come back to the town and straighten things up, we all were still a little shaken up. Maria and Angel were sentenced to annihilation in a darkened woods in the European area where rogues were sent or killed. It was ran by three of the strongest Alphas after Connor but they didn't have packs so you could say they were something like rogues. How Connor explained it to me still was confusing. All I knew is that Maria and Angel weren't going to bothering anyone again. As for Dante, the area was searched and scoured for him but no trace was found. Connor knew one thing, he told me that Dante wasn't finished but he was gone for now. In six months our pack had moved on. Even losing some of our family, we still moved on. I told Brody what had happened and he was tempted to come to Pennsylvania but I told him everything was fine now. He calls every day since then. It was a bit annoying but if I didn't answer, he would take the first flight out to Pennsylvania.
I straightened my shirt out and let a sigh of relief exit my lips again and I lifted my hand to knock on the door but I paused. What if they weren't even here and that car wasn't theirs and this house wasn't even the house? The questions started to swarm in adding more nerves to the ones that were already there. I let my hand fall to my side and I was now just staring at the door. I took a step back and was going to leave but that's when the door opened and in the door way stood an elderly woman with completely white hair and a face crinkled from the wrinkles. She was hunched a bit at the back and she raised an eyebrow as she looked at me and then her eyes widen as if in recognition,
"Your-" she started to say and then she shook her finger at me as she pointed with an raged expression,
"You are not to enter this holy ground you witch!" she said as her fingers shook with fear. I took a step forward, keeping calm,
"Please you don't understand. I need to ask you-"
"Get off of my property and away from my home you demon child." she screamed and then slammed her door in my face. I knocked on the door with force,
"Please!" I begged. No answer. I hit the door once more hoping she'd open it but no luck. I scoffed and turned around towards the street. Obviously they didn't favor my mother once they found out she was a sorceress or whatever they called her. I took one more glance at the door and then took a step back from it, making my way down the steps. As I began to walk the pavement away from the house I watched as another car pulled up in back of the building and parked behind it. A woman, maybe ten years or so older then me, stepped out of the small gray Volts Wagon Jetta. Making my way back down the steps, the blond haired woman started up the steps. Before we passed each other I stopped her and she gave me a quick stare, a weird unusual feeling in the pit of my stomach had me quickly clear my throat as I said,
"Excuse me." She didn't move another step as we stared at each other for just a moment. A small grin then formed on her red stained lips as she waited for me to answer.
"Do you know the woman who lives here?" I asked pointing at the house I just left. She looked up at the house as if to verify it was the house she was going to and then nodded,
"Yes. My aunt lives there." she said now giving me a look of suspicion. I could feel a little uneasiness from the woman and I think that's what I was feeling.
"Did you ever meet her child she adopted?" I asked bluntly and she scrunched her eyes together and then her eyes widen in recognition.
"Oh My Goodness! Your Carols girl!" she bursted out and then threw her arms around me.
"I knew you'd come back some day." she said and I could now hear her crying. I wanted to push away from her and ask how she knew me but then she pulled away anyways and set her hand onto my shoulder,
"You look just like your mother!" She said wiping her eyes.
"So you knew my mother?" I asked and the woman nodded vigorously,
"She and I were close. Her mother, well use to be her mother, is my aunt Diana. My mother passed and aunt Diana took me in but this was after-" she stopped and quickly changed the subject,
"How is your mother by the way. She's never visited since she left." she asked and a small part of me sunk in and I could almost feel the sorrow sweeping over my body.
"My parents passed when I was 6." I said and the look on the woman's face went white,
"I am so sorry. I didn't . . . I wish I would have known. I don't know what happened between Carol and my aunt but I know the ending part was Carol leaving. I am glad I've met her beautiful daughter. Did you go inside and meet my aunt?" she asked and I nodded once,
"I wasn't very welcomed." I answered and she looked at the house then back at me with an odd smile,
"She's old and sometimes delusional. That's what happened with your mother. My aunt kept saying your mother was a witch of some sort. She tried to kill my uncle, bless his heart who passed a year ago. Everything else from there fell down hill."
"What do you mean fell down hill?" I asked and the woman sighed,
"After uncle Seth died, aunty was going off about Carol cursing him and that she was the devil. My aunt was declared crazy but she's never harmed anyone. So I started to watch over her. You have to come in and meet her. She'll be so happy to see you." she said grabbing my hand but I quickly pulled away, "That's not such a good idea and plus I have to leave. Can I give you my number just in case . . . Well just to keep in touch." I finished and the woman nodded, "Oh yes dear. We are family after all. Here, I'll give you my number and if you need anything please let me know. Silly me . . . My name is Beatrice but you can call me aunt." she said and wrote her number on a piece of paper she pulled from her purse then handed me the paper. I thanked her and folded the piece of paper and stuck it in my back pocket. I had more then questions to ask but for now I just thanked her.
After leaving to my car I watched as Beatrice walked into the house and closed the door behind her. I got into contact with Connor to let him know I was on my way back to the airport to fly back to Pennsylvania. I took one last look at the house and then started the rental and drove on to the street. That was it, nothing else but an aunt who wasn't really my aunt. Maybe she would be handy and let me closer to my real family of sorceress. Maybe she could answer a few questions I had but for now, I was missing Connor.
{Beatrice's POV}
I watched from the window as the car drove off and I smiled to myself. Carols daughter all grown up. How fortunate. I turned around and looked at the old lady who shriveled in the corner of the room. The smell of her human perfume was engulfing and I walked over to her and knelt down,
"I'm going to make this very simple for you Ms. Swope. Since the last time I visited I killed your husband and now that I find out that Carol had a daughter and what do you know, she's looking for a family she's never had. Why turn her away?" I asked, now stroking the women's frail face. She was breathing out rigid breaths and I could hear her heart slowly pumping and then she gulped in air,
"I only did it because I was warned about you coming here again. Your not going to harm her." she replied and I just sighed, "You humans are SO cute!" I said but I was pissed because of the fact that Carol had a daughter. This was probably the worse news ever. Almost as worse as hearing Carol was with a human. I almost gagged at the thought. I got up and raised a brow,
"Fine. Your no use to me anyways old hag." I said and then turned around, walked out of the door and as I was walking down the steps of the house one thought occurred; fire! In seconds the woman's scream was music to my ears and then the explosion. I got into the car and watched as the neighboring neighbors all ran out of there homes in panic at seeing Ms. Swope's home on fire. I drove off out of the neighborhood smiling in the rear view mirror at the picture perfect scene of the home that was in flames. Now that I knew about their daughter it was time I'd visit my dear sisters family. Carol was never the type to admit I was the stronger sorceress but now that her daughter was alive and kicking, I was going to show them how strong I was.
{Connor's POV}
I parked my Ducati in the underground parking and made my way into the terminal of Philadelphia International Airport where I waited just near Gate 12 where Eryn's plane was to arrive from Colorado. It was only a week without her and it felt like forever. She stayed with a pack that I was very familiar with, Dark Mountains pack. They knew who she was and she didn't want me to go with her, which I tried to object but in the end, she won. The terminal doors to the gate opened and I waited as a few people walked through and then caught her scent. I watched her walking with a few bags she packed as she exited the port of entry. She caught site of me and smiled big as she dropped her bags and ran over to me, jumping into my arms and planting a kiss on my lips. Her lips, as always, were soft as I pulled her in close, her legs wrapped around my waist. I set her down and kissed her again as she looked back at her bags. I walked over to get them and then joined her as we both started to walk to the exit of the terminal, our arms linked together.
"I'm really happy your back." I said as we walked through automatic doors that lead to the underground parking. We both spotted my red Ducati and she gave me a raised brow
"My bags?" she said and since it was only two duffle bags I wrapped the handle around my arms, "Simple." I said and she shook her head as I got on and she followed. This was the second time she's been on my bike.
"Any headaches?" I asked and she shook her head as she answered, "No. Not since six months ago. Any sign of Dante?" she asked.
"None. No traces since. He's gone." I said and giving her hand an extra squeeze when she set them around my waist.
"Hold on tight. I won't bite." I said winking at her and she just smiled as she did as I asked and I started my bike, reversed and then drove out of the underground parking and into the sunny day of Pennsylvania. For some reason I knew this wasn't the end. This was just the beginning with Eryn.
