Chapter Five: Unhuman

A/N: Hello readers. As I said back in chapter 4, I've posted a picture of Connor to the right. It was hard to find a man with different color eyes but since this guy literally resembles what Connor looks like, I went with him. He's just a model because I try to keep away from movie stars, Brody was an exception. But below is Chapter 5. Enjoy!

P.S. I'll post a picture of Gina in Chapter 10.

CHAPTER FIVE

I wasn't human? That damn voice didn't answer when I asked. I guess me just wanting to be human was out the window. Well whatever the voice was why would I trust it? All of a sudden it wants to appear. Why was I even worried about it? I finally got up from off the floor and walked to my bed. I looked down and seen my back pack sitting next to my bed. Damn, school, I've missed Monday. I threw my self back on my bed, "DAMNIT! Why me?" I asked no one in particular. I turned my head and stared out at the window, the moon was out bright, "You stupid moon and your stupid mating ritual. I'M HUMAN DAMNIT!" I was sure the guys could hear me but screw it I didn't care. A long sigh exited my lips. I felt like punching a wall or something.

"You okay?" Gina's voice came as I sat up and turned towards my door. She had a bowl in her hand. She walked into the room.

"Yeah, I'm okay." I said as she offered me the bowl of soup. I took it thanking her. She sat next to me,

"I just heard you talking to yourself and let me tell you something that ain't healthy." I let a small smile form on my lips as I sipped some of the chicken soup. I knew one thing, Gina sure knew how to cook. She set her hand on my shoulder,

"I know what your going through. Guys throwing themselves at you." she said and I gave her a confused look. She continued,

"Back in high school before I knew I had sucubus powers in me I wasn't someone who guys wanted to date but then my senior year hit and I was 18 and my powers had come to me. Next thing you know I'm using it to get every jock I could." she smiled at herself, totally off the subject I was thinking about but at least she tried.

"Thanks Gina for that . . . Insightful view of your high school life." I said setting the bowl down on my night stand,

"But I think I'm going to call it a night. I've got an early class tomorrow." Gina grabbed the bowl of soup,

"Alright. Don't be so down. Things happen for a reason, keep that in mind and if things don't go your way, become a sucubus . . . Or just be a hoe." she said walking out. Her and men in the same category wasn't a good mix. I just decided to let a hot shower breeze my mind. After the shower I headed to bed trying not to think so much about what has happened the last week of my life; Connor. The voice. My uncle hiding secrets. And me having the possibility of not being a human. I let sleep take me away.

The ability to be surrounded by humans made me feel normal. The New York City streets were busy and the wonderful music of traffic filled my ears. I had my back pack slung over my shoulders and started up the stairs to the Kimmel Center, a building where anyone and everyone from NYU went. It was like a 9 level social building. It's where my professor thought would be a good place to have our history class. What really sucked was that it was on the 9th floor. I entered the crowded building and quickly walked to the elevators. They were just as crowded as the building it self. A tall man, who was standing nearest to the elevator, pressed the up button and about ten of us waited. When the elevator arrived half of the group went in while me, a man and another woman had to wait for the next elevator. The man pressed the up button again once the elevator closed. A few other people joined our waiting group and then a woman pushed through the small crowd and stood next to me.

"Hi!" she said as I turned to her, a petite blond girl. Her dark brown eyes stared at me for a bit as I said hi back. She held a economic book in her hand and then asked,

"So your Eryn?" she asked with a big smile on her face. My heart had stopped but I didn't answer.

"She said you'd be really pretty. So I'll make this quick. Stay away from him or she'll deal with you." the blond had said, still wearing the smile on her face. I raised an eye brow confused,

"Away from-" I hadn't finished as she just walked away through the crowd. I followed her out of the crowd. When I finally emerged from the crowd, I looked to where she might have gone and caught her walking out of the building through the double doors. As fast as my feet could run, I followed and I ran through the door wanting to know who that girl was. When I ran out of the doors, I ran into someone, knocking them and there books down.

"I am so sorry." I said as I started picking up the three books I had knocked down.

"Oh your fine." a mans voice came. I looked up and was met with light baby blue eyes. The man, medium height for a man with ear length hair, smiled at me. I handed him his books as he scrunched his eyebrows together,

"Eryn Green right?" he asked and I gave him a confused look. My fear had crawled up my skin. How did he know my name too? Was it written on my forhead? I looked at my body to see if maybe I had a name tag I wasn't aware of.

"Are you okay?" He asked as I noticed I hadn't answered and I probably looked weird looking at myself. I gave him a reassuaring smile, "Yeah. But how did you know my name?" I asked.

"Oh, right. We have History together. That's where I'm headed now." he said. So obviously I wasn't the social type with humans, see what I mean about wanting a normal life. I don't even know anyone in my class and it's only ten of us in it. He could tell I didn't know him,

"I'm Nathaniel Moore but everyone calls me Nate." he said holding his hand out towards me. I shook it, "Oh right." I said.

"Did class scare you off? Was that the reason you were running?" he asked with a laugh. Too bad it wasn't funny but I gave a small smile and quickly looked towards the street remembering I was chasing after the blond. I didn't see her as I grunted,

"No . . . I thought I forgot my bag but silly me It's on my back." I lied and he laughed.

"Well do you want to walk to class together then? We are going the same way." he asked. If I was colored blind I would still be able to see his cheeks go red. I nodded as we walked into the building. The class period was finished earlier than I thought as I was grabbing my notes and book. Nate walked over to where I was,

"Uh, if this isn't too creepy for you, do you want to grab some coffee?" he asked. I threw my book in my bag and looked at the time, it was only 8:00, "Uh. Sure. I've got time." I said and he smiled, "Great. How about Starbucks, it's down the ways on Richmond?"

"Yeah why not." I said and we walked out together. Since Starbucks wasn't too far we walked to it. Like always, Starbucks was crazy crowded. It took about thirty mintues to finally get an order in, in which I order a Frappe Mocha and Nate ordered straight black coffee. We sat near a corner of the cafe at a booth. I set my back pack to the side of me as he did the same, taking his coat jacket off. He was very slim in his short sleeved shirt. His arms were a bit hairy and his fingers slim but long. He sipped at his coffee,

"It's quite gloomy out." He said staring at the window in the back of me. I turned around to confirm it was and looked back at him, "Welcome to April." I said taking a sip of the Frappe. It was quiet for a second as he said, "So is this your last year?" He asked.

"It is. I graduate this fall so I'm pretty happy about that. How about you?" I asked.

"It's second year. I'm a late bloomer." he chuckled.

"Better late than never huh"

"Yeah. I guess. So, not trying to sound weird but I've been fascinated with you since we started this semester." he said his head down as he looked at his fingers. I could see the red in his cheeks. Yeah, creepy, I know.

"Oh!" was all I said and he lifted his head his eyes widening, "No not in a creepy way . . . Well I can't denie that the way I said it wasn't creepy . . . I just meant that your . . . Your . . ." he didn't finish and I laughed. It caught him by surprise,

"I'll be honest it was a bit creepy but . . ." I hadn't finished as someone else said something,

"But that was really creepy." Connor said and I looked up to see him now a feet or two away from the booth. How the hell did he find me? He walked over and scooted in next to me setting his arm around me,

"Hey babe!" he said and I tried to move his arm but he didn't budge. He then turned his attention on Nate and my heart was already feeling the tention but he smelled really good. He was wearing a leather jacket and jeans with a white T shirt on.

"Hi!" he said and Nate gave him a small smile, "Hi." Nate answered back. I talked before Connor said anything else,

"Sorry Nate, this is my . . ." Connor interrupted, "Boyfriend." he said my mouth hung open, damn this stupid ass, I thought to myself, "Nice to meet you Nate." Connor said, holding his hand out. Nate looked at me and than at Connonr as he took Connors hand into his,

"You too . . ." Nate had said but when Nate shook his hand and pulled it back, it looked as if his hand had went limp. From the smile on Connors lips, I knew he squeezed extra hard. Nate stretched the hurt out of his hand and then checked his watch,

"Oh, I forgot I had a test in my next class. I better get out of here. I'll catch you next time Eryn. It was nice to meet you Connor." Nate said as he grabbed his things and started for the exit,

"Wait Nate. . ." I try to say but he was already out of the cafe. Connor had a smile of victory as I hit his chest, "What the hell is your problem?" I asked, moving his arm off from around me.

"Nothing." he played off.

"Why did you tell him you were my boyfriend? We are not together. You and I are just not going to happen." I kept my voice at a whispering yell, which I'm not too sure how that sounded.

"So you say. And that guy was a creeper. Who says I fascinate you? Man, what a human." he said and I hit his chest again, "Yeah, rememeber me, I'm human and I thought it was an innocent gesture."

"Well next time that innocent gesture happens I'll just rip his ribs out. Your mine and no one elses."

"I'm no ones and how the hell did you know where I was?"

"Your scent is distinctive from others since your my mate. Man this stuff is gross." he said, sipping my frappe. I quickly grabbed it away from him,

"Damnit you!" I pushed him out of the booth and I got out of it, now standing, "You jerk! You really need a reality check." I said, now heading towards the exit. He followed as we walked on the crowded sidewalk of the city and I started walking back towards NYU. He followed.

"You know you can't ignore this." He said, now walking beside me.

"Watch me!" I said picking up my pace hoping he wouldn't keep up. He didn't have trouble doing so and followed me all the way to my car. I got in the driver side as he got in the passenger, "You've got taste!" he said settling in and checking out the car.

"Get the hell out of my car." I screamed as he just put the seat belt on, "I'm already settled." I hit the steering wheel and folded my hands, "Then we'll just stay here until you leave." I said, somewhat determined. He stretched his arm out,

"I guess we'll have to cuddle to keep eachother warm from the cold night." a sly smile crossed his face as I grunted. I started the car and drove out of the parking lot just down the ways from the science building of NYU. That wasn't going to happen. I turned the radio on as AC/DC blasted loud enough so he wouldn't talk to me but unfortunatley, his singing was worst then his talking so I shut it off,

"Hey, I was in tuned with that." he said and I laughed, "You were out of tuned." I admitted and he sighed,

"Since were going to be about an hour getting back to your place lets get to know eachother." he said and I looked at him, a scornful look on my face, "I'd rather hang myself." I said and he chuckled, "Playing hard to get. It doesn't suit you."

"If you haven't noticed I haven't been playing hard to get. I can't soak in all this craziness happening right now." I was really in the car with him I kept saying to myself. Damn him and that sexy ass smile and playing hard to get? Yeah I was but it was because I wasn't weak and I was not about to believe some moon goddess.

[You should, she's real] the voice confirmed. I wasn't in the mood for this right now, "Not now!" I said. No answer back. I sighed, "I have one question then." I said and he was all ears as I asked, "What is an Alpha and why are you the strongest?"

"That's two questions." he corrected and I rolled my eyes, "Just answer." I said and he laughed and he let out a soft breath,

"An Alpha is the strongest of a pack. He out ranks all other werewolves, from the betas to anyone below. I'm the strongest Alpha ever and my pack is the strongest pack any other pack has come across. What makes me the strongest is that I defeated the strongest rogue and made a name for myself. Packs fear me." his voice had changed to a more serious tone and his eyes were deep in thought. He was handsome. I had to keep my eyes on the road but with him in the car it was pretty hard.

We arrived at my house at 10 a.m. and he quickly got out slamming his door as I did the same. The clouds had still been out but I could see bits of sun ray trying to blast through the clouds. We walked up the steps to the front door were Connor was welcomed by Drayden and in the living room, Gina sat, napping. I sat down with them and what was eating at me was I didn't know any of the other guys names. Connor sat next to me as the other four sat either on the couch or the floor but Drayden was on the couch.

"Since you'll all be here for a while why don't you tell me your names. I know Connor and Drayden but you four no clue." The first to answer was the one with the older face,

"I'm Greg." he said and the next was the one with the baby face,

"I'm Kenny." The one to follow was a blond haired,

"I'm Troy." and the last was the youngest of them all small and slim but his pretty green eyes could probably get any girls. His bronze colored skin was a nice tan,

"I'm Caine." he said. I smiled, "It's nice to see you all again. How long are you all planning to stay here anyways? I mean you've got school and sports." I said.

"The wolf pack is much more important then school or sports." Caine answered. I nodded and than Connor spoke up, "And as for staying it won't be until your time expiring or when your willing to come back with me." I grunted, you'll be waiting a long time, I said to myself.

[Time is closer then you think. You will go and there is nothing you can do] The voice had said. I was already tired of her, well, my voice, "Hey you should be on my side." I argued back.

[There is no side's when it comes to him. You'll come to learn that soon]
