Chapter Eleven: Taken
A/N: Hello Readers, So I know in the last chapter you were expecting to read the date with Eryn and Connor but I thought I'd continue it on this chapter. If you were hoping for it on the last chapter, I'm sorry for the inconvenience but this is probably better this way. As I promised, to to right is a picture of Caine. Caine is a Native American by the way.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
The cold wind blew against my fingers but it was warm against Connors stomach. The smell of his light cologne engulfed my senses and I leaned in more to his back. My arms tightened more around him and his breathing was even as he smoothly controlled his bike. The streets of New York was lit by cars and lights that escalated from buildings. My mind wondered on where exactly he was taking me. The jacket kept me warm but his body was where the heat was coming off from. I tried not to think about me hugging up against him but my thoughts weren't cooperating. The driving direction he was taking was all too familiar and that's when I could see the St. George Ferry Terminal up ahead. I didn't think we were really going on the ferry because it would only take us to Staten Island. He confirmed my suspicions when he parked his bike in the parking lot of the Terminal. He got off, setting the helmet on the bike as I did the same. The dock was usually crowded at night but no one around that I seen. I followed him up to the booth of the terminal, where an older man was behind the glass window of the booth.
"Hey Stu . . . Do you have it?" Connor asked the man he called Stu. The old man opened up the door to the booth and handed Connor a duffle bag. Connor thanked him and automatically I thought they were drugs,
"Is that . . ." I was about to say until he opened the duffle bag and pulled out a thick cotton blanket. I raised an eyebrow as he looked at me, smiling. He handed the duffle bag back to Stu who walked back into the booth. Connor then started walking towards the deck where I seen a ferry boat set up next to the dock. Pure white Christmas lights decorated the boat. Another man, who was dressed in a suit, waited on the edge of where the entrance of the ferry was set. I followed Connor to the ferry and the man, tall and fair skinned with salt and pepper hair and a beard that covered most of his face, greeted Connor,
"Hello Alpha, your table is set up at the deck part of the ferry. May I take your blanket?" he asked. Connor thanked him, handing him the blanket. Connor was helped up to the ferry as Connor then held his hand out towards me and I genuinely took it, feeling his warm palms and he pulled me onto the ferry with ease. We followed the man as he lead us to the deck. To my surprise, a candle light dinner was set up, two plates across from each other with a candle lit in between the plates. The circular table was covered with a white satin sheet and a wine bottle was set into a silver like bucket that was set to the side of the table. It was beautiful and Connor took my hand and lead me to the table, pulling out a chair for me and I sat in it, he pushed the chair in but whispered in my ear,
"Do you like it?" he asked. I turned around to look up at him as his eyes fell upon me. He smiled and I returned the smile,
"It's beautiful." I said and he walked over to his side, pulled his chair out and sat down, scooting in. He then set his hands on the table,
"This is only half of what you see, wait until we get to Staten Island." he said and I scrunched my eyebrows together,
"We're going to Staten Island?" I really didn't care but asking him just slipped out. He just smiled, "You'll see." Another secret he wasn't telling but at this moment, I was feeling all sorts of warmth.
We were served dinner by a few other people, dressed to impress, and they all called him Alpha. Were they part of his pack? As they finished serving our food I finally asked,
"Are they also part of your pack?" I asked. He was already eating but he gave me a slight shake of the head, "No, their part of another pack but I've asked if they can do this for me." he said. His mouth was stuffed with food and I raised an eyebrow, almost laughing at his chipmunk look. He noticed the hold back and quickly swallowed the food,
"What?" he asked and I just shrugged my shoulders, "oh nothing." I said, now digging into the food. It was a steak dinner with potatoes and broccoli. It was all just so delicious. He poured wine into my glass and did the same to his. He lifted the wine glass.
"This is corny but I just thought since it was for the occasion, we might as well toast to it." he said. I lifted my glass, "Agreed."
"Alright, that's what I like to hear . . . So toast to the night." he said and I smiled,
"Toast to the night." and we drank up. The wine was great, I've had wine before but this one tasted rich. The Ferry had started to move when we were served desert. The night was going so well and I was in a very happy place and since it was with him, I could feel my life starting to pick up. We arrived at the dock of Staten Island and Connor had taken the blanket from the man and helped me off the ferry. I thanked him and he kept my hand in his. My heart raced as his warm fingers entwined with mine,
"It's going to be a long walk to where I'm taking you, is that okay?" he asked and at first I was skeptical but then I nodded. We then started to walk, I don't know where but we walked.
It was quiet but not for long as he broke the silent, "I'm glad you agreed to come with me." he said, now staring down at me. From the bright moon that shown over the island, his beautiful eyes took me in as I went red in the face. I gave him a small smile, "I'm glad you invited me."
"Pshhh, if you weren't going to go then I'd drag you." his tone playful. I gave him a playful glare,
"You sure know how ruin the moment." I said and he chuckled. We came to a forest like area that I knew as Greenbelt Conservancy. The only forest like area in New York. What were we doing here? We kept walking and than we were all of a sudden covered deep by tall trees but through them, the moon was still bright. We walked a bit further and then through an opening of the trees, we came to a cliff and like out of a movie, the moon was the view. My breath had caught in my throat as I looked at the site, it was beautiful. The cliff below had a river and then across was more land and tall trees.
Connor sat down at a grassed area and ushered me to sit next to him. The chilly wind sent goosebumps up my arm as I sat down. He took the blanket and covered us both and I tensed. A chuckle exited his mouth,
"I won't bite, you can relax unless you'd rather not be in the blanket with me." he said, trying to pull the blanket away,
"No . . . It's fine." I said and with satisfaction, he set his arm, with the blanket, around us. His arm gave me more warmth then the blanket. I did relax, I felt safe and warm. I could feel my heart racing at miles per hour. It was quiet, except for the chirping of crickets in the distance and the small whistle of the wind. The site was too beautiful to say anything but I had to say something, I cleared my throat,
"This is beautiful." I said. Really? That was the best I can say. I tensed when his arm started to go down my arm, gently rubbing it. I turned to face him and he was staring right back at me. My eyes tried to go anywhere else but his eyes but I couldn't tear my eyes away. A small smile spread across his lips,
"Your beautiful." he said. Then he started to move in closer. Oh goodness, his lips were inching forward.
Should I push him away? I had to hurry and pick if I should . . . His lips had met mine. Too late. The softness of his lips against mine made me perk up a bit but my lips had automatically contributed to his kiss. Our lips moved in the same motion and then his warm tongue had made it's way in my mouth as I let my lips part ways for his tongue. His hand gently cupped the back of my head and I could now feel him start to hover over me, turning me on my back. My body wanted this as he now was half way on top of me, our kisses turning into passionate kisses and his hands started to wonder down my arms and then I felt it gently lift my shirt as his warm hand sat flat on my flat stomach. It then started to move up a bit as his kisses made it's way to my neck.
"Con . . ." I tried to mumble through the hard breathing I was letting off. My hands started to make it's way to his back. No hands, I thought to myself but his kisses were too much. My body was giving in and then he stopped and lifted his head quickly, sniffing the air. What the hell? Did he just stop? He quickly got up,
"Don't move." he said and he looked back in the direction of the woods. I now sat up, fear taking over and my head turning towards where he was looking at,
"What's wrong?" I was about to stand and he looked at me,
"I said don't move." he said this time with more of a command.
I didn't move as my eyes stayed on the wooded area. What was he looking at? Connor then clenched his hands together but as fast as he clenched his hands, a loud gun shot went off from the direction of the woods and Connor had disappeared and in seconds, he was back,
"Get up!" he yelled, grabbing my arm. I stood but then he threw me over his back,
"Hold on!" he commanded and I did as he asked and then he transformed, his shirt had ripped as his bare back showed but then seconds, it turned into thick hair and my eyes widen at the site. Next thing I knew I was on the back of a big werewolf. He was on his two hind legs. He had ran off the cliff as I held my breath and when we landed on the other side of the woods, I let the scream out as he ran fast, too fast. I dug my head deep into his hairy back holding on for dear life. What was that gun shot and what the hell was going on? I was asking myself.
I don't know how deep the woods went but we ran. And then he came to a dead stop, his breathing deep and hard. He looked ahead and growled. I poked my head up to see what exactly he was looking at and then I seen her, a yard or so in the front of us, her red hair not hard to miss. Penelope stood in the front of us, a gun pointed at Connor. Next to her stood a man, pale and baring his teeth. I could see his vampiric teeth as he kept a glare on Connor. They looked small from where I was, Connors wolf form was at least 8 ft or so. Penelope didn't hesitate as she pulled the trigger and the loud gun shot hurt my ear but Connor dodged it as the vampire was quick towards Connor, attacking him. I held on to Connor for dear life and then jumping from the woods, from in the back of us, another vampire. Connor quickly took care of the first vampire and then the second. After taking care of the two vampires, he quickly went after Penelope. She just smiled and before we could reach her, four vampires attacked from in the back of her, out of the woods. They all wanted blood and it was Connor's they seem to be after. He fought them off as I started to feel myself slipping. My fear had turned into a frighten little girl. My hands couldn't hold on for long. He fought two of the vampires, quickly killing them as the other two attacked. He threw one of them to a tree and the other had already hopped on the back of Connor, next to me. I kicked him off but faced the consequence when I fell off of Connor and onto the grassy area of the woods.
The softness had broken my fall as I quickly stood and Connor's wolf quickly looked over to me, distracted by the distance we were from each other and one of the vampires hit him with a big branch from a tree in the back and a loud screech exited his mouth. He fell but just for a second and I tried to run over to him but was knocked back by the vampire who I had kicked off. His dark eyes glared down at me as his teeth were baring in his opened mouth and he grabbed me by the neck. His hand tightened at my neck as I now fought for air but Connor had quickly grabbed the vampire from the back, ripping him in half. I fell to my knees, coughing to catch breath. I struggled to get up and suddenly felt a kick to the back as I fell forward. Connor quickly killed off the two vampires and turned to me, his growl now locked on Penelope, who had the gun held to the back of my head,
"Down lover boy, or I kill her." she said and Connor growled again but didn't move. He kept his eyes locked on me. Penelope picked me up by the hair as I let out a small yelp,
"On your feet." she demanded. I did as she said and she wrapped her arm around my neck and held the gun to my head,
"I think I'll take her back with me, what do you think boys." she said as two vampires walked out from behind her.
"Now these guys are going to take care of you while I take your little ferry boat back to the main land. If you dare to follow, I'll kill her." Penelope said and Connor made a move towards us as Penelope shot him and I watched as he went down and the vampires attacked. Penelope laughed,
"Oh the wonders of a silver bullet." she said, now throwing me to a third vampire that walked out of the woods. Where the hell were all these damn vampires coming from? Penelope kissed the vampire and said, "Take her to the ferry, I'll catch up with you." The vampire nodded and threw me over his shoulders.
"CONNOR!" I yelled. I could see him slowly getting up but I could see the red blood oozing from his arm. The bullet hit him dead in the arm. The vampires had kicked him as he kept to his form but staring at me and I could feel the hurt just by staring at him. He quickly stood and I watched as Penelope pointed the gun at him and pulled the trigger and he went down.
"NO CONNOR!" I screamed, fighting the vampire who was carrying me. Tears had poured quickly down my face. Penelope turned around to look at me and smiled as she looked back at Connor and aimed the gun at him then pulled the trigger. The gun shot echoed in my ear.
"NOOOOOOO!" I screamed. He didn't move. Tears flowed down my face. The vampire who was carrying me let out a hearty laugh,
"Prince charming is dead!" he said. Dead. He was dead. My heart had sunk. He was dead. No. Connor. I called for him. I watched through blurred eyes from the tears. He was still not moving and the vampire started towards the woods. My eyes kept on Connor, who still hadn't moved. I didn't move my eyes, even when I couldn't see him through the tall trees even when we had arrived to the ferry. The vampire threw me on the deck and the table we had eaten at was broke in two. I had now seen the blood on the boat, and then screamed at the site of the dead naked bodies around me. The man who had served us, his head was missing. Blood covered the deck as more tears started to fall. I've never seen so much blood or bodies detached. I was shaking. The vampire now stood in the front of me,
"What's wrong human girl, too much." he asked and laughed even harder. I couldn't talk. This night went wrong in the worst possible way. Dead bodies covered the deck. Blood covered the deck. Connor was . . . More tears started.
"Boohoo." Penelope's voice came. She now stood next to the vampire and she bent down to me,
"Let's just say he didn't have to see you die." she said, her ugly smile making me sick inside. She walked past me, kicking the head of the salt and pepper headed man and sighing, "Lets go, we've gotta make this trip quick and easy. I've got plans for this one." she said and the vampire nodded as he disappeared. The night was still chilly and I watched as the ferry started leaving the dock of the island. Connor. Please Connor. Please run out of those woods. Please. I hadn't moved, my body was frozen from terror. I stared but nothing, no Connor. Connor was . . . Was gone.
