"TONIGHT'S THE FULL MOON." CAROLINE POINTS OUT with a concern look on her face. Sorelle looked away from her phone to see Caroline leaning against the doorway of her bedroom.
"Are you gonna be okay?"
Sorelle nodded as she sat up from her bed with a sigh, "Yeah, I'll be okay. I've been doing this for some time now." Caroline frowns and plopped herself down beside the werewolf.
"I know that but I still worry y'know? You won't let me be there with you during the transformation." Sorelle quirks an eyebrow at her, giving her a look.
"Because I don't want to hurt you."
"Yeah, yeah, I know."
"By the way." Sorelle shifts, turning her body to face Caroline, "How's Tyler doing? I know this full moon will be his first one." Caroline bit down on her bottom lip nervously before letting out a sigh.
"I don't know. Yesterday we watched some videos that his uncle had filmed when he was transforming but he got really scared, like really scared Elle." Caroline paused before she gave Sorelle a sheepish smile, "Would it be okay if you could be with him during the full moon? You know how it works and I know he needs some guidance with this, and I will also be there with you guys and I am not taking no for an answer."
Sorelle roll her eyes with a nod, sighing in defeat before she raises an eyebrow, giving the blonde a teasing smirk, "Something going on with the two of you or what? I've been noticing that you've been hanging around with him a lot lately."
"No!" Caroline denies with a huff, "I just don't want him to be alone that's all." Sorelle let out a small giggle and pulled the Forbes girl into a hug.
"Of course, I'll be with him during the full moon. I was going to do that anyways, I just haven't talked to him about it yet." Sorelle pulls back and pursed her lips, "Does he know about me being a werewolf though?"
Caroline slowly nodded, "Yeah. . . I kinda spilled the beans when I told him I was a vampire." Sorelle snorts and shook her head fondly.
"Oh! Actually, I just remembered. I'm meeting Tyler at the Grill, you can come with me and talk with him there." Caroline exclaims as she beamed at Sorelle with a wide smile.
Sorelle laughed and nodded, "Alright, let's go."
. . . . . . .
"Oh! There's Tyler." Caroline points out to Sorelle when she sees Tyler coming towards them. Sorelle threw a fry in her mouth and gave a short wave to Tyler who looked at her in confusion but waved back.
"Hey." Tyler greets with a sigh, placing his insanely huge duffel bag on the table for a moment.
"Hey!" Caroline smiles before her face fell into a frown noticing the look on Tyler's face, "What's wrong?"
"This girl Mason knows stopped by the house." Tyler reveals as his voice dropped into a whisper. Sorelle froze, shit. "She said he never made it back to Florida." Caroline glanced over at Sorelle who avoided eye contact with her. "My mom's freaking out and she was on the phone with your mom when I left."
Sorelle turned over to where Alaric was sitting and the male raised an eyebrow at her, silently asking her what was going on. She mouthed 'Mason' towards him and Alaric's eyes slightly went wide.
"Oh, um, I see." Caroline mutters before gesturing her hands towards Sorelle who was sitting in front of her, "Uh, Sorelle here wants to talk with you!" Tyler furrow his eyebrows and looked over at the Madden girl who sat up straighter in her chair.
"I heard you triggered your curse." Sorelle mutters softly, sympathy clear in her tone. Tyler pursed his lips and glanced down at his feet. "I wanted to ask if you want me to help you during the full moon. I know we don't really see eye to eye sometimes but no one deserves to go through something like this alone."
Tyler's head perked up, a genuine look of surprise and gratitude was on his face. He slowly nodded with a relieved smile, "Yeah. . . I'd like that very much actually." Caroline beams and clapped her hands together.
"Let's get going then!" A breathy chuckle left Sorelle's lips at the blonde's excitement. The two girls sat up, Sorelle grabbed her bag that was beside her and they started to follow behind Tyler.
Sorelle lightly tug on Caroline's arm making her turn back to her, "You guys head out first, I'm gonna talk to Alaric over there." She nodded her head towards to where the male was sitting. Alaric gave Tyler and Caroline a short wave when the two of them looked over at him. "It won't take long, so don't worry."
Tyler shrugged his shoulders and adjusted the strap of his duffel bag before walking out. Caroline gives the werewolf a quick grin before following behind him. Sorelle let out a heavy sigh and made her way over to Alaric, sliding into the booth in front of him.
"Damon's fucked." Sorelle comments with an annoyed groan, "Tyler said that some girl showed up at his house earlier saying how Mason never made it back to Florida." Alaric's eyes went wide as his mouth gaped open and close.
"Shit." Alaric cursed under his breath as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He glanced up at Sorelle and frowned, "What are we gonna do?"
Sorelle snorts and roll her eyes, "Keep Damon alive. You and I both know he's gonna pull something stupid." Alaric made a face and nodded in agreement, letting out a chuckle.
"I'm gonna call him." Sorelle mutters, pulling out her phone from her pocket and dialed Damon's number. She pressed the speaker button and placed the phone down on the table.
"My favorite girl." Damon's voice sang through the phone, "What's up?"
"You're in trouble that's what's up." Sorelle scoffs which elicited a choked laugh from Alaric, "Liz has officially declared Mason Lockwood a missing person."
"What?!" Damon exclaims in shock, "Why?"
"Some girl from Florida showed up on the Lockwoods' doorstep looking for Mason." Alaric spoke up which made Damon let out a loud sigh.
"Alaric!" Damon shouts out in faux happiness, "Nice to hear from you buddy." Alaric simply roll his eyes in response. "What girl though?"
"We don't know but she sure got everyone in a tizzy."
"That's not good." Damon groans, "Where are you guys?"
"We're at the Grill but I'm leaving soon, tonight's the full moon and I offered to help Lockwood with his transformation." Sorelle answers the raven-haired vampire. Damon let out an 'Ah' before he furrowed his eyebrows.
"I thought Vampire Barbie was on Lockwood duty." Damon asked in confusion causing Sorelle to roll her eyes.
"She is, I'm joining her because one, I'm not letting her get hurt and two, as much as I don't get along with Tyler, no one deserves to go through this alone."
Damon pursed his lips before letting out a groan, "Ugh, fine. Stay safe. I'll talk to you after the full moon." A smile grew on Sorelle's lips.
"Bye, D."
. . . . . . .
"So how does this work?" Tyler nervously asked from the back as Caroline drove into the woods. Sorelle hummed and spared him a quick glance.
"I'll explain later when we get to your family's cellar, don't worry." Tyler pursed his lips and nodded. The car came to a stop and Tyler made his way out towards the back of the car. Caroline unlocked the trunk and Tyler opened it to get his duffel bag out.
Caroline turned in the driver's seat and gave Tyler a reassuring smile, "You know, maybe he just, like stopped to go surf somewhere. You know, isn't that Mason's whole thing?"
Tyler shrugged with a sigh, "Maybe." Sorelle pursed her lips and mentally groaned, why did Damon have to kill him. "This girl just seemed to think he would have called." Sorelle and Caroline got out of the car and the two walked over towards the trunk. Sorelle grabbed her bag from the trunk as well and swung it over her shoulders.
"I'm sure he's okay." Caroline mutters reassuringly as she give Tyler a quick smile.
"Yeah. Anyways. . ." Tyler let out a loud sigh, his eyes flickering between Caroline and Sorelle, "Let's do this."
Sorelle gestures her arm out, "Lead the way, Lockwood." Tyler chuckles and started walking into the woods, the two girls following behind him closely.
"So." Tyler rose an eyebrow at Sorelle, glancing back at her for a moment, "How long has it been since you've triggered your curse?"
"Um, it's been awhile." Sorelle answers reluctantly as she look around at the trees, "I triggered it when I was thirteen. How it happened? It's a long story but just know that it was an accident. I didn't mean for it to happen, y'know?"
Caroline frowned and locked her arms with the werewolf, she knew the story behind of how Sorelle triggered her curse and till this day, she still blames herself for it.
Sorelle turned and gave Caroline a soft grin, rubbing her arm reassuringly because she knew exactly what the Forbes girl was thinking.
Tyler looked at Sorelle with wide eyes, "Thirteen? That's so young, I'm so sorry." Sorelle merely shrug in response, pressing her lips into a straight line.
Tyler let out a sigh, "But I get what you mean though. I didn't mean for it to happen too, we just got unlucky." Sorelle sighed as well and nodded in agreement.
"Ah, okay, we're here." The three of them began their way downstairs into the cellar and Tyler opened the cellar door allowing the two girls to walk inside first.
He proceeded to drop his bag and take out the chains that were in it and began to set up everything for his transformation. Sorelle's eyebrows shot up in shock at the sight of what was in his bag.
"Damn, you're hella prepared for this." Tyler scoffed and let out a quiet chuckle afterwards.
"Yeah." Tyler slowly dropped the chains that he was holding and gave the Madden girl a confused look, "Do you not chain yourself up?" Sorelle shook her head in response, dropping her bag down on the floor as well.
"Nah, at first I did but I've gained control over my transformation now and I'm more aware of what happens and what not." Sorelle raises a brow at the Lockwood boy, "For you though, chaining up is good. It's your first time so you aren't fully at that point yet." Tyler sighed heavily and started to secure his chains again.
Caroline crossed her arms over her chest and looked around nervously, "Tell me you brought the instruction manual." Tyler looked over at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Tell me you brought the wolfsbane."
"Yes. Um, not an easy herb to find by the way." Caroline answers as she pull out a plastic bag with the wolfsbane inside, she grabbed it out of the bag and held it up for the two to see. Sorelle's eyes went wide at the sight of the toxic herb.
Tyler reached over to touch the wolfsbane and he let out a pained gasp as he does so. He quickly removed his hand, shaking it slightly to try and get rid of the sting faster.
"I have water bottles in my bag." Tyler tells Caroline who had a reluctant frown adoring her face, "We can mix it in there."
"Tyler, I think using wolfsbane is a bit too far." Sorelle says worriedly but Tyler only gave her a sheepish look.
"I don't want to hurt anyone." Sorelle pursed her lips before she nodded with a sigh.
"Don't use too much of it though. I'm here and I'll be able to hold you back if you try to attack or escape." Tyler gave her a nod in response.
Caroline swallows harshly and went to grab the water bottles from Tyler's bag, plucking the herb apart to put it in the bottles.
"The guy at the hardware store said this setup was rated up to five thousand pounds." Tyler said as he continued with securing the chains.
Caroline glanced up at him, "Is that more than a werewolf can pull?"
"I have no idea." Tyler sighed before looking over at Sorelle, "Is it?"
"I have no idea either." Sorelle shrugged her shoulders, "The one time I used chains, it held me back so I'm gonna assume yeah."
"How are you guys doing?" Caroline mutters out softly as she stood up. Her hands holding the now wolfsbane filled bottles.
"Still human." Tyler answered for Sorelle and him, he wrapped the chain around his waist and proceeded to take off his shirt causing Caroline to look away with a gasp.
"Oh my god! You're not gonna get naked, are you?" Caroline squeaks out eliciting a snort from Sorelle's lips. The Madden girl had changed into a pair of gym shorts as well as a sports bra.
"It's elastic." Tyler responds as he pull at the waistband, "I mean, what should I wear? I don't think it's like the Hulk where I get to keep my pants."
"It's not." Sorelle confirmed as she crack her neck. Tyler turned to look at her and raises an eyebrow.
"Well, we're somewhat wearing the exact same thing so I'm guessing that I'm on the right track." Sorelle nodded with a shrug.
"Yeah, it helps when you wear less clothes. Transformation gets a little smoother."
Sorelle let out a sigh, moving to lay down on the ground. She closed her eyes and took in some deep breaths. She could feel that the moon was almost at its apex. Tyler was pacing back and forth beside her now, the chains wrapped around his body rattles as he does so.
"What time is it?" Tyler asked Caroline who quickly grabbed her phone.
"It's almost eight." Caroline puts away her phone, letting out a sharp exhale, "What time does the moon crest or whatever?"
"Not for a while." Sorelle answers as she place the back of her hand on her forehead. "But it's soon. I can feel it already."
"I read in Mason's journal that the first transformation can happen before the moon hits its apex." Tyler said looking at Sorelle, "Is that true?" The Madden girl nodded whilst pursing her lips. Tyler swallowed thickly and looked away.
"Does it say how long you'll actually be a wolf?" Caroline questions nervously. Sorelle turned her head towards the blonde and gave her a shrug.
"A few hours at most. Maybe more or less, it really depends."
Tyler grunts, momentarily falling to the ground when he tried to walk towards Caroline to where the wolfsbane water bottles were. Sorelle sat up from where she was laying and gave him a worried look.
"Are you sure you wanna do that?" Sorelle mutters as she watch Tyler grab the bottles, twisting the cap open.
"Yeah." Tyler gulps, "Mason said it'll diminish my strength." A deep sigh left his lips, "So I can't break free." He hesitated for a moment before slowly putting the bottle against his lips. Sorelle watched with knitted brows, her stomach in knots.
"Tyler." Caroline winces as the Lockwood boy began to gulp down the water heavily, "Tyler?" Tyler gagged, dropping to his knees as the water spilled from his mouth. Sorelle quickly reached over to him, placing her hands on his shoulders.
"Hey, breathe." Sorelle whispers as she rubbed his back. Caroline dropped to her knees beside her and began to rub his back too. Sorelle stepped away, letting the two have their moment.
"Don't!" Tyler grunts out as he try to push Caroline away but the blonde didn't budge. "Just don't!"
"Shh." Caroline murmurs softly as she continued with rubbing his back. Tyler panted loudly, slowly calming down. He looked up at Caroline and gulped.
"I'm sorry." Caroline simply shushes him, silently telling him that 'it's fine'. Sorelle smirks to herself as she watches the two, she knew that they were gonna become a thing later on.
Just then Tyler started to breathe heavily, he tugged at the chains that was wrapped around his neck. Sorelle closed her eyes and mentally groaned, it was happening. She let out a sudden gasp and fell to the ground, her body almost curling into a fetal position.
"Elle? Tyler?" Caroline mutters out worriedly as she looked between the two.
"It's happening." Sorelle pants as she felt her body burning up. Tyler let out a small cry and Sorelle moved closer to him. "Tyler, hey. Breathe for me. It's okay."
"I'm burning up." Tyler gasped out still tugging at the chains, "It burns." Caroline moves towards him and shushes him reassuringly.
"You're okay. You're okay." Caroline frowns, "I know it burns but like Elle said, you just gotta breathe through this, okay?" Tyler glanced up at her with teary eyes.
"I'm trying." Sorelle let out a shout as she felt her shoulder pop, eyes tearing up in pain. Tyler's head snapped over at her in shock before he looked back at Caroline with pleading eyes, "You should go."
"Care." Sorelle whines as she felt her other shoulder pop, "Go please." Caroline let out a shaky breath and shook her head rapidly, indicating that she didn't want to leave.
Tyler grunts and fell down to the ground completely, crying out loud when his arms snapped up in an inhumane way. Sorelle glanced up and let out a low gasp, a lone tear fell down her face.
"Tyler." The Lockwood boy let out a sob, shaking his head.
"Elle, it hurts. It hurts." Sorelle used the strength she still had and crawled towards him.
"I know it hurts. Breathe, just let it happen. Don't hold it back or else it'll hurt more." Heavy pants left the two werewolves' lips before suddenly they dropped to the ground completely flat against the surface.
"Elle?" Caroline calls out softly as she kneeled beside the Madden girl. A quiet groan leaves Sorelle's lips in response.
"It stopped for now." Sorelle swallows thickly, "But it's gonna happen again." Caroline nibbled down on her bottom lip, glancing between the two anxiously as she stood up.
"I want to help, but I don't know what to do." Tyler let out a shaky sigh and shook his head softly.
"There's nothing you can do." A grunt leaves Tyler's lips as he tried to push himself off of the ground. A cry of pain let Sorelle's lips as she felt more bones in her body starting to break. Caroline let out a gasp, her eyes started to tear up as she looked at the werewolf, the blonde immediately kneeled down beside her again.
"Elle?!" Tyler let out a cry, the bones in his spine began to break apart rapidly. Tears started to fall down Caroline's face as she watches the two wither in pain.
"Tyler."
The Lockwood boy turns to her and gritted through his teeth, "Get out."
"No!"
"Get out, Care!" Sorelle cries out as she felt her back snapping up and her wrist twisting, "Please! We don't want to hurt you." Caroline shook her head, moving closer to Sorelle and rubbing her back.
"No. I'm not leaving you guys." Sorelle let out a sob and tried her best to clutch on the blonde's hand. Caroline immediately grabbed it, interlocking her fingers with the werewolf's and leaning down to pull the girl into an embrace.
"Shhh, it's okay. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere, Elle." A small cry comes from Tyler causing Sorelle to look over at him through blurry eyes.
"Elle." Tyler gasped, "It hurts so much." Sorelle gulps and scooch over towards him, wincing with every movement as it was too painful.
"I know. It gets better, I promise." Tyler nodded slowly, closing his eyes and taking in some deep breaths as he tried to calm down. Sorelle leaned her head down beside him and grabbed his hand, squeezing it in reassurance.
Caroline moved over and hugged the two together, rubbing their backs to try and ease their pain. A few moments passed before the two werewolves began to breathe heavily again. A groan leaves Tyler causing Caroline to hug him tighter.
"It's okay. You'll fight through it, okay?"
"Leave." Tyler tries to plead again but Caroline was quick to shake her head again.
"No." Sorelle let out a shout as she wrapped her arms around her stomach, her body insanely hot and she felt like she was burning alive.
"Go! Please!"
"No! Not yet! Like I said, I'm not going anywhere."
"Care. . ." Sorelle mutters with through shaky cries, "Please leave." A scream leaves the Madden girl's lips as more bones started to break in her body all at once. Her head snapped up and Caroline gasped, seeing her eyes glow amber.
Sorelle used all of her strength to push Caroline out of the cellar and blocked Tyler, who was close to being a wolf, from attacking her. The Lockwood boy let out a growl, eyes glowing amber as well as he tried to run towards the Forbes girl.
"Care! Leave now!" Caroline let out a sob and grabbed the chain that was on the ground and began to wrap it around the door. Tyler pushed Sorelle away causing the girl to shriek, his arms flung out through the door, trying to claw at Caroline who quickly ran out, slamming the door behind her as she does so.
"Tyler!" Sorelle yells, grabbing the boy's shoulders and nearly throwing him across the room. Her leg snapped causing her to drop to the ground with a scream.
"It's happening." Tyler cries out, panting heavily as he stare at Sorelle with teary eyes. A shout leaves his lips as he felt his entire body shifting. Tyler's head snapped up when he heard a low growl, his eyes went wide at the sight of a wolf in front of him.
Sorelle.
Tyler let out another cry before he completely shifted into his wolf form. Caroline who was still outside of the cellar, furrowed her eyebrows in confusion when she no longer heard Sorelle and Tyler's cries. She turned around and instantly the door began to pound against her aggressively. A squeal left the blonde's lips as she tried to hold the door from breaking. Two different growls were heard as she was holding the door.
"Elle! Tyler!" Caroline cries but the two were too strong, she grabbed a plank that was in front of her and used it to try and help the door from breaking.
Suddenly, the pounding stopped and a loud whine was heard from the other side of the door. Caroline gasped and slowly moved towards the door before a loud thud was heard, it sounded like a body had just flung against it. A shriek left Caroline's lips before she sped away, not wanting to take any chances.
. . . . . . .
At the Salvatore Boarding House, Damon had just arrived home. His eyes glancing around cautiously as he locked the front door. He felt like something was off and walked into the library when his eyes fell on a familiar figure.
"Just can't stay away, can you?" Rose gave him a shrug as she got up from the couch.
"Well, you don't answer your phone." Damon squint his eyes at her and crossed his arms.
"What do you want?"
"I wanted to apologize." Rose bit down on her lip as she give Damon an apologetic stare.
"Just admit it." Damon roll his eyes, "You don't have anywhere else to go."
Rose sighed and moved closer to him, "I'm sorry about Elena. I wasn't thinking straight. I didn't know that she had a death wish and I'm also sorry that Sorelle was pulled into it too." Damon only raises his eyebrows, "But I called you. I tried to make it right, okay?"
"I'm sorry Damon." Rose mutters before she sheepishly smile at him, "And I have nowhere else to go."
Damon shook his head and brushed past her, "There's nothing here for you, Rose." Rose pursed his lips and sighed.
"Well, then—" The sound of glass shattering caused the two vampires to stop in their tracks, they looked at each other before rushing out the library and towards where they heard it. Upon arriving in the living room, their eyes caught the sight of the window beside the fireplace completely smashed.
Damon sped towards the swords that was on the wall and grabbed one of it. A growl was heard, the sound echoed throughout the house. Damon turned to see a wolf a couple feet away snarling at him. Rose's eyes went wide, seeing as the wolf was about to attack the raven-haired vampire.
"Damon!" Rose pushes him away and the wolf pounced on her instead. A scream immediately left Rose's lips as the wolf bit through the skin of her shoulder. Damon's eyes went wide in shock and he was about to stab the wolf when suddenly it was thrown across the room, a whimper left the animal as it did.
A large wolf whose fur was completely coated black stood protectively in front of him with its teeth bared, growling at the wolf who was across the room. Damon's eyes went wide and his grip on the sword loosened.
"Ellie. . . ?" He breathes out and the black-furred wolf snapped its head over to him, eyes blinking at him as they held eye contact. The other wolf growled at them for a second before it sped away, leaving the three alone.
"Ellie, is that you?" Damon whispers as he slowly kneeled down in front of the wolf. The black-furred wolf walked up to him and rubbed its head against his arm, glancing up at him with a tilt of its head. A quiet gasp left the Salvatore's lips, "It is you." The wolf then turned over to Rose who was sobbing on the floor, a whimper left the animal's lips as it glanced back at Damon.
Damon dropped to his knees completely and pulled the vampire into an embrace, giving a thankful look to the wolf who sat in front of them, "Go. We're okay. You did good. Go be free, Ellie." The black-furred wolf tilted its head for a moment before speeding away, leaving the two vampires alone.
. . . . . . .
Sorelle slowly blinked open her eyes, wincing as her muscles felt extremely sore. She glanced around, noticing that she was in the Lockwood's cellar. Her memory was a little foggy, barely remembering anything that happened when she had shifted. A groan came from the other side and Sorelle's head snapped over, seeing Tyler on the ground in a fetal position.
"Elle? Tyler?" Sorelle heard Caroline calling out towards them, a gasp left the werewolf's lips as her head perked up.
"Care?" Caroline's breath hitched in her throat hearing Sorelle's voice and she immediately ran inside.
"Elle!" Sorelle turned over to Tyler who glanced up at her with a tired look, his eyes were slightly blurry but he could tell that it was Sorelle. She sent him a faint smile and let out a breathless chuckle.
"Tyler, you did it."
Caroline announced her presence with a gasp, grabbing two blankets to cover the werewolves' bodies.
"Tyler? Tyler. You made it. You didn't get out. You're okay." Caroline laughed in relief as she kneeled down beside him after covering up Sorelle. Sorelle groaned and pushed herself up from the ground, walking over to where her bag laid and pulled out the extra clothes that she had packed.
Tyler let out a shuddering breath, a tear falling down his face. "No, I'm not." Caroline's lips quivered and she leaned down, pulling him into a hug. Sorelle who had finished changing, frowned at the sight and kneeled down beside him, rubbing his shoulders which made Tyler look up at her.
"Does it get better after this?" Tyler asked, his voice slightly breaking at the end. Sorelle tried her best to give him a reassuring smile before slowly nodding.
"I promise. Every full moon, I'll try my best to be there with you, okay?"
. . . . . . .
"Are you okay?" Damon asked through the phone, concern visibly laced in his tone. Sorelle let out a sigh, humming as she adjust her position in bed. The Madden girl had just arrived home at the Forbes house a couple minutes ago. Caroline stayed with Tyler for a bit and she didn't want to intrude so she left.
"Yeah. I'm okay. Just resting right now because my muscles are a little sore."
"You killed anyone?" Damon jokes causing Sorelle to roll her eyes.
"You're not funny." The raven-haired vampire merely snort in response.
Damon paused for a moment before quietly asking Sorelle a question, "I want to ask, just to make sure, uh—was it you who saved me and Rose earlier tonight? I called your name and the wolf had responded to it." Sorelle let out a soft chuckle, nodding even though he couldn't see her.
"Yeah. It was me." Sorelle mutters before letting out a quiet scoff, "I always seem to save you from trouble, huh?"
Damon laughed in response adding to her sentence in a joking tone, "What would I do without you?" The raven-haired vampire licked his lips, "Also, how did you get out? I thought you were locked up in the cellar."
"Oh yeah—uh I was in the cellar but then I escaped through the other cellar door cause the door was almost completely off its hinges when I saw it." Sorelle answers before adding, "I'm pretty sure Tyler didn't follow me either because I vaguely remember knocking him out and when I shifted back, he was still in the same exact spot that I last saw him."
Damon hummed, eyebrows knitted together, "So then it wasn't Tyler who was the other wolf?"
"The one that attacked you?" Sorelle asked and Damon responded with another hum, "Yeah, it wasn't. Why?"
Sorelle paused before letting out an exasperated sigh, "Damon, what the hell did you do."
"What—" Damon sputters out, "Why do you always assume that I've done something?!"
"Because you're you." Sorelle scoffs, "So what the hell did you do. That wolf didn't attack for no reason."
Damon was silent for a moment before he reluctantly answered, "Jules. Mason's little friend, I kinda pissed her off at the Grill earlier." Sorelle rolled her eyes and let out a loud sigh.
"Of course." Sorelle furrowed her eyebrows, "Wait, did she bite you?"
Damon shook his head, "No, but she did bite Rose because she jumped in front of me."
"What?!"
Damon licked his lips, "Yeah but she's fine, the bite apparently healed." Sorelle's eyebrows shot up in surprise, that's impossible. The werewolf sat up from her bed and furrowed her eyebrows together.
"What do you mean healed?"
Damon falters, brows knitted in confusion as he answered, "Uh, healed as in completely gone, poof! I'm guessing that the legend was wrong."
"No, no." Sorelle rushed out as she started to panic, "It's not wrong, Damon. The legend is true."
"What?" Damon whispers out as his fingers clutched on his phone tightly, "Ellie. What are you saying?"
Sorelle swallows thickly, "A werewolf bite is fatal. Rose is going to die."
"Fuck." Damon cursed, a shaky breath leaves his lips, "Damn it!"
"Damon?" Sorelle hears Rose's voice coming from the phone, her heart dropped hearing her voice. Damon gulps and whispers under his breath so that only Sorelle could hear him.
"I'll talk to you later, okay? Come see me tomorrow."
"Okay." And with that, the call ended and Sorelle placed her phone down. A frown etched on her face as she thought about Rose. Had she gotten there way earlier, Jules wouldn't have bitten her.
. . . . . . .
"Elena?" Sorelle mutters with knitted eyebrows, opening the door for the Gilbert girl who stood in front of her with a small smile.
"Elle, hi. Uh—I'm going to the Boarding House to check up on Rose. I heard about what happened last night from Damon, you wanna come with me?"
Sorelle nodded and points her thumb behind her, "Yeah, of course. Just let me get my bag and we can get going." Elena simply nod and walked inside when Sorelle gestured to her to come in.
Sorelle quickly walked in her room and grabbed her phone and bag, closing the door behind her as she made her way back towards Elena, "Alright, let's go."
Elena nodded and the two walked out of the house. Sorelle made sure to lock the door before getting into Elena's car.
"How bad will it get?" Elena asked quietly as she drove out onto the road. Sorelle pursed her lips and let out a small sigh.
"Bad. As the venom circulates through her body, she's gonna start having hallucinations and she might even attack people." Elena frowns and swallows thickly, her heart breaking for Rose.
Sorelle looked over at Elena, "The only thing we can do is try and comfort her through the pain."
"Oh, also." Elena started, biting down on her bottom lip nervously before letting out a small sigh, "I, uh—I talked with Elijah last night."
Sorelle's eyes went wide and she snapped her head over towards her, "Sexy suit dude?"
"Elle!" Elena gasped as she stared at her wide-eyed, "What the hell?"
"Continue." Sorelle waves at her, ignoring the disgust in her tone, "What did you guys talk about?"
"We made a deal." Elena exhaled sharply, "He protects my loved ones and I just live my life. He said that when the right time comes, he'll lure Klaus to Mystic Falls and kill him."
"Just like that?" Sorelle raises an eyebrow and Elena nodded with pursed lips.
"Just like that."
"I don't know, Lena." Sorelle sighed as she leaned back against the headrest, "Sounds a little fishy."
"I trust him." Elena stated firmly, "Beside, he's the reason why Stefan got out of the tomb."
Sorelle stayed silent for a moment before letting out a groan, "Ugh fine, if you trust him then I will."
Elena sent her a wide smile and nodded, pulling into the driveway of the Boarding House. She parked the car near the entrance and the two got out of the car with Elena opening the front door for them to walk inside. Sorelle mentally roll her eyes, these two need to start locking their door.
Sorelle heard some muffled voices coming from the library so she signaled to Elena to follow her and as they walked towards it, Elena's eyes went wide at the bite that was on Rose's shoulders.
"Definitely. . . better." Damon turned to them with pursed lips, "Right, Elle, Elena?" Rose turned and Elena stood gaping at them for a moment before she gulped. Sorelle sent the vampire a faint smile and nod.
"It's not bad." Elena mutters out softly as she clutched on her bag.
"Where's Stefan?" Damon asked with furrowed eyebrows and Elena sighed, shrugging her shoulders.
"He left. I need you to talk to him. He's convinced that he had to find Isobel."
"Woah?" Sorelle turned to face Elena, brows raised at the doppelgänger, "When did that happen?"
"This morning." Elena answered with a sigh, "He wants to ask Isobel for more information about the Originals." She turned back to look at Damon.
"I think it's only going to upset Elijah."
"No can do." Damon shook his head, "I'm with Stefan on this one." Elena gave him a frown in response, "But if you could play nurse for a little while—"
"It's not necessary." Rose interjects as she looked at Elena but Damon was quick to snap back.
"It is necessary." Damon walked up to them, "Elena's a do-gooder. It's in her nature. She just can't resist. And, Elle, you're coming with me." Sorelle raised an eyebrow at him and crossed her arms.
"Why?"
"Because I'm saying please. So, please."
Elena sent Rose a faint smile before turning to follow Damon who had walked past them. Sorelle gives the vampire a smile too before following behind her.
"Damon." Elena mutters softly, "Is she gonna die?" Damon turned to look at Sorelle who frowned.
"Yeah." Damon whispers under his breath as he moves closer to the two, "The wolf bite caused some kind of infection and from what Sorelle told me, it's only gonna get worse."
"Is it like poison?" Elena asked with furrowed eyebrows as she turned to Sorelle.
Sorelle pursed her lips before slowly nodding, "Basically, yeah." Elena nodded before looking back at Damon, a pity look etched on her face.
"I'm sorry." Damon shrugged nonchalantly but Sorelle knew better, he was hurting inside.
"Death happens. We come, we go. Sooner she dies, the better." Elena frowns at him and Damon let out a quiet scoff, "It's gloomy as hell in here." He turned to leave and Sorelle sighed before she glanced over at Elena.
"Be careful, okay?" Sorelle murmurs softly and Elena nodded with a soft smile. The werewolf gave her a small hug before following after Damon.
"Damon, wait up!"
. . . . . . .
"What are we doing here?" Sorelle asked Damon as they walked into the Grill. Sorelle scrunched up her nose, a familiar scent entered her nose. Her face fell as she realized what the scent was. There's a werewolf here.
The raven-haired vampire didn't respond to her, he just glanced around the restaurant before his eyes stopped at a figure. Sorelle followed his eyesight and immediately she knew who the person was. It was the wolf that she had sniffed out. This must be Mason's friend, Jules.
Sorelle's eyes went wide seeing as Damon was about to go towards her, "Wait, D—" Stefan suddenly appeared in front of them, pulling on Damon's arm causing him to turn around and give his brother a tight-lipped smile.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm waiting for you." Stefan raises an eyebrow, giving Damon a look, "Listen, there's a lot of people here." He subtly nods at Jules who was sitting down at a table behind them.
"Stef's right, D." Sorelle mutters under her breath as she stare at the raven-haired vampire. "As much as I want to join you in hurting her, this is not the place to do it."
"Well, damn." Damon sarcastically said as he roll his eyes, "There goes my plan to rip her spleen through her back." A scoff left his lips and he turned to walk away but Stefan was quick to pull him back again.
"Hey, listen. I know you're upset about Rose." Stefan stated softly and a look appeared on Damon's face, his eyebrows knitted together.
"Why does everyone think I'm upset about Rose?" Damon huffed, "I'm fine. I don't know if you know this, but sometimes vampires die." Stefan turned slightly and shared a look with Sorelle before turning back to look at Damon.
"Me and Ellie are gonna have a friendly chat with lady wolf, brother. Ease up." And with that Damon walked away and Sorelle let out a sigh, glancing up at Stefan who looked back at her.
"He's in denial." Stefan simply snorts and nodded in response, he opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by the sound of his phone ringing.
"Sorry, I gotta take this. You good here with him?" Stefan mutters softly and Sorelle nodded with a smile. He smiled back and walked out of the Grill to answer his phone call.
Sorelle looked back at Damon and followed after him, she mentally roll her eyes. Let's hope this goes well.
Damon sat down in front of Jules just as Sorelle had walked up to them, she grabbed a chair from a nearby empty table and sat down beside Damon. Jules sighed, not looking up to them yet.
"Well, if it isn't the one that I meant to kill." Jules grabbed her drink, "I'll have to get that right next time."
"You won't live to see another full moon." Damon spat back, glaring at the blonde woman in front of him. Jules merely gave him a look before glancing over Sorelle.
"You're a wolf. Why are you with him?"
Sorelle rolled her eyes, "He's my friend."
"He's a vampire." Jules tries to argue but Sorelle just let out an annoyed sigh.
"I don't give a fuck." Damon let out a quiet snort before he quickly plaster a serious look on his face.
"I won't kill you if you tell me how to cure a wolf bite."
Jules raises an eyebrow, "Promise?" Damon pursed his lips before slowly nodding, completely genuine with his statement.
"Yes."
Jules sighed and grabbed her wallet to pull out some cash and placed it down onto the table. She looked up to Damon and glared at him, "Bite me." Sorelle mentally groaned, god this woman is fucking annoying.
Jules got up and began to walk away from the two but was stopped by Damon pulling on her arm harshly.
An amused smile grew on Jules' face as she quietly sang out, "I'm not afraid of you."
"Then you are very, very stupid."
"How's your friend?" Jules mutters as she stare up at Damon, "Rose? Is that her name? Have the chills started? The unbearable pain."
"If there's a cure, tell me." Damon demanded before he narrowed his eyes, "Or start watching your back."
"Did I mention the dementia?" Jules added, completely ignoring Damon's threat. "It'll eat away at her brain. Soon she'll be rabid."
"You want a cure?" Jules whispers, "I'll tell you the only cure that exists. Take a stake and drive it through her heart." Her eyes trailed over to Sorelle and her lips slightly twitched into a small smirk, "Beside, I'm surprised your little wolf friend here haven't told you."
Damon looked back at Sorelle, the werewolf only gave him a confused look in response. Jules quietly chortles and pulled her arm away from Damon's grip.
"Good luck." And with that Jules walked away from the two and Damon let out a frustrated sigh.
"Do you know a cure?" Sorelle slowly shook her head in response.
"No, but we can go to my house and look through my mom's journals that she left behind for me."
"Alright, let's go."
. . . . . . .
"Find anything yet?" Damon asked as he quickly read through the journal that he had in his hand. Sorelle frowns and shook her head, flipping a page over with her journal.
"Nada." Sorelle skimmed through the page before her eyes stopped at a familiar word, one that she has been hearing recently. Mates.
"Hey, Damon." The raven-haired vampire hummed and Sorelle gulped nervously before turning over to look at him.
"When me and Elena went to see Katherine, she told us that there's something else that Klaus wants more than breaking the curse." Damon froze, shutting the journal in his hand closed and sat up from Sorelle's bed.
He gives her a confused look, slight hurt was visible in his eyes, "And you didn't tell me? I thought we agreed to not keep anything from each other." Sorelle pursed her lips and let out a quiet sigh.
"I'm sorry but Katherine said it was basically a lost cause so I figured it wasn't worth mentioning."
"Well, what is it?"
"His mate or soulmate, same shit."
Damon choked on air, "His what now?!"
"She said that he's been searching for her for centuries now but he could never find her." Sorelle shrugs, flipping another page over in the journal.
"Let me guess, Katherine wanted to try and find her too but realized that if Klaus couldn't find her then she probably wouldn't either." Sorelle snorts, letting out an impressed scoff.
"Right on the nose." Damon roll his eyes and laid back down on Sorelle's bed. Sorelle flipped a page over in the journal and froze when she read the first few sentences at the top of the page.
"D. . ." Sorelle trailed off at the end, Damon sat up with knitted brows and gave the werewolf a confused look, "I don't think there's a cure."
Damon's face fell and he gestured to her to give him the journal. Sorelle passed it to him and the raven-haired vampire's eyes skimmed through the page, his heart stopped at a particular sentence.
"Your mom accidentally bit one of her vampire friends." Damon whispered under his breath, his grip increasingly got tighter, "And her friend had died the following night."
"She tried to find a cure." Sorelle mutters sadly as she looked at Damon, "But every witch told her the same thing—"
"That there's no cure to a werewolf bite." Damon finished her sentence with a frown. The raven-haired vampire dropped the journal down onto the bed and closed his eyes, swallowing harshly. Sorelle reached over and rubbed his back.
"I'm sorry, D."
Damon shook his head with a loud sigh, "Death happens. Let's just go, we need to get back before Rose does something and Elena gets hurts." Sorelle exhaled sharply and slowly nodded, grabbing the journals that the two had looked through and placed it back into the box, pushing it under her bed once she had finished.
"Let's hope Rose didn't escape and is still in the house."
. . . . . . .
As Damon drove his car onto the driveway and towards the front entrance of the Boarding House, Sorelle furrowed her eyebrows together noticing that the front door was completely wide open.
"What the hell?" Sorelle mutters under her breath as she unfasten her seatbelt. Damon looked just as confused as her and in a blink of an eye, he was gone. An annoyed groan left the werewolf as she got out of the car and made her way over to the entrance.
"Seriously?" Sorelle grumbles as she walked into the house. "You couldn't wait for me?" The werewolf paused, noticing that Elena and Damon were sporting a serious look. Sorelle's eyebrows shot up as she took in the doppelgänger's appearance, the Gilbert girl was completely disheveled and looked extremely shaken up.
"Rose's gone. She escaped." Damon tells Sorelle and the werewolf let out a sigh.
"Damn it." Sorelle gave Elena a concern look, "You okay, Lena?"
"Yeah, yeah." Elena breathes out as she ran her fingers through her hair, "Just shaken up a bit. Let's just go find Rose before she hurts someone."
Damon walked past them, practically jogging back towards his car. Sorelle pursed her lips before following behind him with Elena. The three got in the car, Sorelle was sitting in the passenger seat while Elena was in the back.
Damon's phone started ringing and he passed it over to Sorelle, "Answer this for me please."
Sorelle gave him a nod and her eyes went slightly wide at the caller's ID, it was Liz. She inhaled sharply before answering the phone, "Liz! Hi, what's up?"
"Sorelle?" Liz's voice came through the phone and Damon's ears perked up as he was listening in, "Why are you answering Damon's phone?"
"I'm helping him with something, nothing much. Anyways! Why are you calling, is something wrong?" Sorelle asked, eyebrows knitted together in concern.
Liz hesitated for a moment but she knew that Sorelle was familiar with vampires and knew of their existence, "Yeah actually, something bad had happened. Can you let Damon know that there's been another vampire attack and for him to come by to the high school?" Sorelle's head snapped over to Damon, he shared a look with her before nodding. Damon stirred the wheel, switching roads to get to Mystic Falls High.
"Yeah, yeah. Of course, I'll let him know don't worry."
Liz sighed in relief, "Thanks sweetie, stay safe okay?" Sorelle let out a quiet chuckle and smiled.
"I will and you too. I'll see you at home later."
"See you later, sweetie." And with that Sorelle ended the call and looked back at Damon with a raised eyebrow.
"It was Rose."
"What was Rose?" Elena asked from the back and Sorelle turned to look at her with a grimace on her face.
"There was just a vampire attack and I'm assuming that it was Rose." Elena let out a small gasp and covered her mouth with her hand. Sorelle turned back to face the front, seeing that they had finally arrived at the high school.
"You two stay here by the car, I'll go talk with Liz." Damon told them as he pulled into a parking spot. As soon as they were parked, Damon left and quickly walked over to where Liz was.
"Have you heard from Stefan?" Elena asked Sorelle, the two leaned against the front of Damon's car as they waited.
Sorelle shook her head and frowned, "No, last time I saw him was at the Grill." Elena let out a frustrated sigh and pulled out her phone, probably about to call her boyfriend.
"Hey, Stefan, it's me." Elena mutters, "I don't know where you are, but please call me. It's important." She pulled the phone away from her ear and clicked send. Damon walked up from behind them and the two turned to face him.
"Hey, have you heard from him?" Elena asked the raven-haired vampire, "Do you know what he's up to?
"My baby brother's not exactly my priority right now." Damon answers as he reached to get something from behind his jacket. He pulled out a stake and Sorelle's eyebrows shot up in surprise. Damon grabbed the werewolf's hands and gave her the weapon.
"Take this." Elena glanced down at Sorelle's hand in shock and Damon place his hand on Sorelle's back, the three of them started to walk towards the school.
"Come on, let's go." The trio walked for some time before suddenly Sorelle's ears perked up at the sound of glass smashing. She looked over at Damon who gave her a look, he had heard the noise too.
The two started running towards the parking lot and Sorelle let out a gasp when she saw a dead body on top of a car. Elena caught up to them, panting heavily as she came up from beside her and she followed Sorelle's gaze, a gasp leaving her lips as well. A scream made Elena jump and the two noticed that Rose was biting on a blonde girl's neck viciously.
"Rose!" Sorelle yelled but Rose didn't hear her. She tried to get closer but Damon was quick to stop her, not wanting her to get hurt. The raven-haired vampire used his vamp-speed to pull Rose away from the girl and down onto the ground, his grip on her was extremely tight.
"Rose, stop!" Damon yells at Rose who was thrashing in his hold, "Rose, Rose! It's me!" Rose started to calm down and Damon's voice soften as he tried to get her to come back again, "It's Damon." The veins under Rose's eyes started to go away and she turned her head, trying to push herself up and her eyes started to tear up when she noticed the blonde girl's dead body.
"Did I do this?" Rose cried out, "No. I didn't mean to hurt anyone. I never wanted to hurt anyone." Sorelle started to tear up as she heard Rose sobbing.
"I know. I know." Damon mutters softly trying his best to soothe her. Rose turned to Elena and Sorelle, her cries increasingly getting louder.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Elena gulps and shook her head reassuringly.
"Come on, let's get you home." Damon murmurs as he pull Rose up.
Rose shook her head and cried out, "No, I don't have a home. I haven't had a home in so long." Sorelle let out a shaky breath, trying her best to hold back her tears. She felt so bad for the vampire, Rose didn't deserve this at all.
"Oh, make it stop!" Rose pleads, a sob left her lips again, "Please, make it stop." Damon frowns and pulled her up from the ground, holding her bridal style. He gave a look to Sorelle who nodded, the werewolf reached up to wipe away the stray tears that fell down her face and picked up the stake that Damon had dropped on the ground.
Sorelle turned to Elena and the two followed behind Damon closely, "She won't make it tomorrow." Her words came out quietly as possible so that only the Gilbert girl will be able to hear it.
"I know." Elena whispered back, her heart clenching in pain for Rose, "She doesn't deserve this, I feel so bad." Sorelle could only sigh and nod in response.
"Sometimes bad things happen to good people and there's nothing we can do to stop it."
. . . . . . .
"How is she?" Sorelle asked Elena who had walked downstairs from Damon's room. The doppelgänger looks like she was about to cry and Sorelle pursed her lips, getting the hint that Rose was just getting even worse.
"S-She's um—" Elena stutters as she let out a shaky breath, "I think right now is a good time to say goodbye if you want to." Sorelle's heart dropped and she inhaled sharply before slowly nodding and began her way upstairs.
As she got closer to Damon's room, she felt each step getting heavier and heavier. Despite only knowing Rose for a short time, the vampire kinda grew on her.
"Hey." Sorelle softly knocked on the door announcing her presence to the two. Rose lifted her head up from Damon's chest and tried her best to give Sorelle a smile.
"Hi, Sorelle." The Madden girl walked closer to them and sat down at the edge of the bed. She looked at Damon who had a frown adoring his face, her heart breaking for him.
"You're gonna be okay." Sorelle whispers tearfully, looking back at Rose, "You're strong." Rose let out a weak chuckle and reached over to grasp Sorelle's hand.
"You're an extraordinary girl, Sorelle." Rose mutters softly, a soft grin on her face as she stare at the werewolf, "You're gonna do great things and a lot of people are very lucky to have someone like you in their life." Sorelle felt her eyes starting to well up with tears and she left out a breathy chuckle, squeezing Rose's hand.
"Sleep well, Rose." Sorelle's voice cracked slightly at the end and Rose gave her a faint smile. Sorelle looked up at Damon who had slight tears in his eyes and she softly squeezed his arm before making her way out of the room and downstairs.
"Is she?" Elena quietly asked when she noticed Sorelle coming closer. Sorelle shook her head and sat down beside her.
"Not yet. Soon though, I think." Sorelle clears her throat, wiping her cheeks whilst giving Elena a small smile, "You can go, I'll stay here with Damon."
Elena gives her a hesitant look, "Are you sure?"
"Yeah. Go home and get some sleep." Elena bit down on her lip in thought before she slowly nodded and grabbed her bag. She gave Sorelle a hug and sent her a small smile.
"Update me, okay?" Sorelle nodded and smiled back before walking Elena out. After the Gilbert girl had left, she walked back to the couch and laid down, closing her eyes as she tried her best to stop herself from crying again.
"Hey." Damon spoke up and Sorelle quickly sat up and knitted her eyebrows together noticing that he was completely dressed.
"Are you going somewhere?"
"I need to let Liz know that the 'vampire' is caught and dead."
Sorelle froze and her voice slightly trembled, "So, Rose's. . .?" Damon swallows thickly and nodded and Sorelle let out a shaky breath.
"Are you okay?" Damon gave her a tight-lipped smile and nodded.
"Just peachy." Sorelle frowned and opened her mouth to say something but Damon quickly walked out of the house before she could utter out another word. A sigh left the werewolf's lips as she looked at the door, she knew Damon was hurting, he just didn't want to show it.
Sorelle spent the next twenty minutes pacing back and forth as she waited for Damon to come back. She went over to where the alcohol was and poured herself a drink and also one for Damon. As she downed her drink, the door opened and her head snapped over to it, seeing that Damon had finally arrived home.
"You okay?"
Damon rolled his eyes and huffed, "Yes. I'm fine, stop asking me that." Sorelle pursed her lips and passed him the glass that she had poured for him. The raven-haired vampire took it and immediately downed the liquid.
"D, it's me." Sorelle mutters as she grabbed Damon's hands in hers. Damon glanced down at her, his lips started to quiver as Sorelle look at him. "You know you don't have to hide from me."
Damon inhaled sharply and glanced down at his feet. Sorelle sighed and pulled the vampire into a tight embrace. Damon immediately wrapped his arms around her and a shaky breath left his lips as he gripped onto her shirt.
"It's okay, I know." Sorelle whispers, her eyes started to tear up upon hearing a quiet sniffle coming from Damon, "I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
