          It never occurred to Victoria that once again, she could be thrown into an arena and left there to die. For her, the deal was for her to win and she would be able to live her life in peace. It did go that way until President Snow announced that the 75th Hunger Games would be a special edition—one where the victors were called back in that arena that brought so many nightmares. So much trauma.

Despite winning, Victoria never rested. In her mind, she was sometimes still there—in that poor arena surrounded by nothing but water and some small islands on the side. If it weren't for her district and her being used to water, Victoria would have not survived. Finnick had told her that the night before which had made her blood boil.

"Water is our best ally," he had said before she went to bed, hoping to get a full night of sleep before being deprived of it for a few weeks.

Victoria knew he was right, it was a lost cause putting up a fight the night before the game. So, with her tribute, Cornell, she went to bed. Cornell had died within a few hours of being in the arena. He was stubborn and had refused to follow Victoria so they could hide—the first night, as she watched the deaths, she couldn't help but gasp quietly as she watched his face in the sky. If she was outside, in District Four, she would have bet on him because he had more chances of win. Who would bet on the poor girl that she was?

To her surprise, she had managed to kill and to win thanks to the water. Finnick's words echoed in her mind as she watched the last tribute. Water is our best ally. Fucking hell was he right. The tribute of District Ten had been drowned, leaving her the winner of the 72th Hunger Games.

But, when Victoria volunteered to save Mags from this torment, she had no idea what she was in for.
