Chapter 17

Rachel's P.O.V

It is one in the morning. Grr. Now, normally, this wouldn't be an issue. Duh. But, considering these extremely unfortunate circumstances, this sucks. Why, you ask? It's one in the morning and I'm in the wilderness, "camping".

I hate camping. In fact, I hate it so much it doesn't even deserve to be a normal word, hence the quotation marks.

I felt something on my leg.

I looked down.

"AIEE!!" I screamed. "BUG!"

I got up and jiggled all around, frantically trying to shake that damned bug off.

I finally stopped, when I knew the bug had no hope of surviving.

I sat back down, grumpy.

Did I mention I hate camping?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally! It's beddy-bye-time!
I wasn't really paying attention to what Kia, Drew, and Adam were talking about.
At least, I wasn't paying attention until they mentioned I would be sleeping in the pink tent, with Kia.
"Aw! I don't want to sleep with Kia. She farts while she sleeps." I protested.
Adam and Drew both snickered, but were silenced by a death glare from Kia.
"I do not fart!" Kia defended herself.
"Mm-hmm. Tell that to you're sleeping bag." I insisted.
We all had to laugh out loud at that one. Even Kia.
Or I guess you could say LOL'd.
"Okay, fine. I'll go with Kia, Adam, you go with Rachel." Drew instructed.
For some odd reason, this made my heart beat faster.
It had been a while since Adam and I's last sleepover. In fact, it had been almost 4 years.
And back then I didn't have these feelings.
Wait- what? Did I just say feelings? What I meant to say was, we're older now, so it might be slightly... awkward.
Yea, that's what I meant!
I climbed into the pink tent. Haha! Adam isnt very fond of pink.
I realized I was still in my normal clothes.
"I have to change. Leave." I ordered.
Then, I heard a noise, as in BEAR noise.
I'm pretty sure Adam heard it, too.
Great! Now there's no way I'm getting him to go out there! Poo.
My eyes widened. I had to admit, if I were him, not even Taylor Lautner could have made me go out there!
And that's saying something.
"I am not going out there!" he protested.
Typical. I knew this was coming. But, if he DID go out there, I'd label him stupid.
So either way, staying is a pretty wise move.
"Okay, turn around. Don't you have to change, too?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I'll do that," he agreed.
I couldn't find anything. No PJ's! then I saw Adam's laying around. A t-shirt, duck boxers, and some shorts.
I grabbed the duck boxers before he could say anything.
I changed, and turned around. Adam was already changed.
Wearing only his shorts. (And underwear, I hope.)
Meaning, he was shirtless.
Meaning I could see his eight-pack abs.
Trust me. I stared so long, I counted.
Well, it wasn't like, awkward long, just long enough!
He narrowed his eyes. He noticed the duck boxers. And my favorite t-shirt, which just happens to be his t-shirt, as well.
I smiled innocently, playing dumb.
He knows not to try to beat me at that game.
Cause I'm better at it!
I'm tired. I crawled into the one, huge sleeping bag and closed my eyes.
The bed shifted, so Adam must have gotten tired, too.
I tried to sleep, but it was freezing.
I involuntarily shivered.
Adam scooted closer to me and wrapped his arms around me, providing warmth.
My eyes widened in surprise.
"You're cold," he said, making a statement, not asking me.
"Yeah, I am," I agreed, happy for this new-found excuse to cuddle.
I mean, happy to for... to be... warm! Yup, happy to be warm.
At some point, I put my hand on his chest. His heartbeat quickened, and I couldn't help but hope that it was because he might feel what I was feeling.
What is wrong with me? Is it really possible to fall for your best friend?
