Chapter 14

Rachel's P.O.V

"Oh, come on, doc! I've been in this hellhole, for what, three months? Come on, I'm feeling better, much better, better than ever, actually, just please, let me leave!" I sat in a chair besides Adam's bed as he begged the doctor to let him leave.

"You need to stay for a few more says," the doctor insisted.

"Just let me go! I mean, what's a few days in the medical world?" he asked.

"Nothing," he answered himself. "Nothing at all."

I just sat there quietly, watching. Normally, I would've butted in, defending Adam, but this was way too amusing to pass up. Adam looks so cute when he's pouting.

"It is something, you-"

This was the time to butt in.

"Just let him go! Please?" I pleaded. "The hospital is for either sick, or injured people."

I turned to face Adam. "Adam, are you sick?"

"Hmm..." he pondered.

Mocking, he fake sneezed, coughed, and sniffled.

I played along, feeling his forehead.

"Well, you seem okay to me," I said.

"Yea, I'm okay. I am not sick." He cleared up.

I turned around, now facing the doctor.

"He's not sick," I stated.

I turned back around, facing Adam again.

"Adam, come. Let's frolic in the invisible flowers with me!" I smiled, getting up.

"With pleasure," Adam answered, smiling back.

He took my hand, and then we proceeded to frolicking in what appeared to be nothing, but Adam and I knew better than that. They were invisible flowers.

The doctor chuckled.

"Fine," he sighed. "I'll arrange it so you can leave today."

Adam and I stopped, mid-frolic.

"Yes!" I cheered, hugging Adam.

"Mission accomplished!" Adam cheered back, laughing, and holding me tight.

At some point, the doctor came back in, with Adam's parents at his tail, because, suddenly we heard Mrs. Hart saying, "Aw, you two are so cute together!"

We pulled away, embarrassed.

I could feel my cheeks burning.

How embarrassing!

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Adam had turned pink, too.

"Hi Mrs. Hart," I greeted.

"Dear, how many times do I have to tell you? Call me Dolly," she said.

"Okay, hi Dolly," I said awkwardly.

They got everything ready, so Adam was set to leave. He finally got to change into his regular clothes again. (With me out of the room, of course!)

I went with Adam and his parents to have dinner at the De Coral Buffet, a Chinese restaurant.

"So, where do you plan on going to college?" Mr. Hart asked me.

"Well, considering I'm a freshman in high school, I haven't given it much thought." I answered.

"It's never too early," Mr. Hart replied. "The early bird gets the worm!"

"Well, this bird ain't getting any worm. I don't like worms." I answered.

"At least not after the incident." Adam added.

"What happened?" Dolly asked.

It is still so awkward saying that...

"Don't ask," Adam and I said at the same time. "Never ask." We both said, again, at the same time.

"Besides, that saying doesn't apply to lazy people like me," I offered.

Mr. Hart, Dolly, and Adam all laughed out loud.

Or I guess you could say LOL'd.

"Adam, I always knew you had good taste. Pretty, sweet, smart, and funny!" Dolly exclaimed.

"What a catch!" Mr. Hart put in.

I turned tomato-red.

"Mom, dad, how many times do I have to say, she's my best friend." Adam asked uncomfortably.

For some reason, my chest tightened, my heart hurt, when he said that.

"Oh, sorry dear, I forget. You two are just so darn cute together, a mother forgets!" Dolly laughed.

My phone rang, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Saved by the bell.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey! Get your tent, sleeping bag, and Adam! We're going camping! And no, is not an option. If you choose that option, I will personally go and drag your butts over here! See you in a few!" Kia informed me, hanging up before I even got a chance to open my mouth.

I pouted, and turned to look at Adam, who was sitting beside me.

"We're going camping," I frowned.
