ACT TWO, CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
Six Feet Underground

WHEN ANDI GOT HOME, ALL SHE WANTED TO DO WAS LIE DOWN. She still needed to tell the others what she heard at the motel but it felt like sleep was harder to come by. Someone always needed help whether it was magic or just a little bit of knowledge on magic. Andi was trying to have the answers to everything while getting her grandmother to just relax and worry about non-magical things. At this point, she might as well be retired from anything magical but there were times when Andi still needed her wisdom. But whenever she didn't ask her grandmother for help, she looked in the Grimoire and would take care of it. That way, her grandmother didn't need to worry and neither did her friends.
When they had to go back to school, Andi would need to drag her friends into a private space where no one could hear them, especially the Alpha Twins, and tell them about the information she got. But first, they needed to get through chemistry class and instead of Mr. Harris since he was still MIA, they had Ms. Blake substituting. If Andi was being honest, she wondered if it was even a good idea to have an English teacher substituting for chemistry unless she had that subject under her belt as well.
"Good morning. As you all may know, Mr. Harris is still missing — uh, I mean sick — so I will be filling in until they find a more qualified substitute teacher," the brunette woman said and Andi looked at her questioningly.
Even though she knew the answer, Ms. Blake's slip was making her wonder if she knew. And if she did, how much more did she know?
"Which is it?" she asked.
"I beg your pardon?" Ms. Blake asked.
"You said Mr. Harris was missing, caught yourself and then said he was sick. So which is it? Is he missing or is he sick?" Andi questioned and Ms. Blake cleared her throat.
"All you need to do as students is worry about your grades. I'm sure Mr. Harris is fine," she said with a smile but Andi was still suspicious. "Let's get started."
"What are you thinking?" Isaac whispered.
Andi sighed as she looked at him. "What if she knows something?" she asked and Isaac bit the inside of his cheek.
"Like how you know something but wouldn't tell us on the bus?" he questioned and Andi scoffed.
"I wasn't gonna risk Ethan eavesdropping on us. I will tell you but first we need to get out of this class and somewhere empty," she said while Ms. Blake started handing out the assignment sheets.
"How are we gonna do that?" Isaac asked and Andi dug through her bag and pulled out a small vial and a half filled bottle of water. Isaac watched as she poured the contents of the vial into the water bottle and shook it up but it still looked like regular water. "What is that?"
"Drink it," she said.
"What?" he questioned.
"Just drink it and you need to drink all of it. I'm gonna ask to go to the bathroom and in five minutes, you'll feel the effects and then you will ask to step out. When she lets you out, meet me in the supply closet," Andi said while Isaac hesitantly took the bottle of "water."
"What exactly is this going to do?" he asked while Andi took out another half filled bottle of water and another vial.
"You'll see," Andi replied as she poured the contents and drank the whole thing. She cringed as Isaac noticed her skin lightening and she raised her hand. "Ms. Blake, may I please step out for a minute?"
"My God, you look a little pale. Are you okay?" Ms. Blake asked and Andi shook her head.
"I'm feeling a little nauseous," she replied.
"Of course. Take all the time you need," Ms. Blake said and Andi grabbed her stuff.
She glanced at Isaac before leaving the classroom and heading to the supply closet. She spent all night working on the small vials so she was hoping they would work. The one she took to change her complexion to make her look sick worked like a charm so she was hoping the one she gave to Isaac would work as well. As she waited for him to show up, she stepped outside of the supply closet to go to the water fountain and refill the water bottle and went back inside. She took out a third vial and mixed it into the water and drank half of it. Her skin changed back to its natural complexion and she checked the time on her phone. Isaac should be rushing into the supply closet in three, two—
"What the hell, Andi?" he asked as he stormed into the supply closet and shut the door.
"Drink this right now," she replied.
"You gave me a migraine!" Isaac said as he rubbed the sides of his temples.
"We needed believable excuses and no offence, but you're a terrible liar and if I told you what that little potion did, you wouldn't have taken it and we would still be stuck in class. Now drink this," Andi said as she handed him the water bottle.
"What's in this one?" he questioned with his eyes narrowed.
"Just some water mixed in with a counter spell," Andi replied as she shrugged her shoulders. "Feel free to listen to my heartbeat if you don't believe me."
Isaac sighed as he took the water bottle and drank the rest of the contents inside. Andi could practically feel the relief washing over him but she could also feel how upset he was. "Thanks," he said.
"I'm sorry about the spell. Your werewolf healing couldn't fix this one since it was magically induced and I'm sorry about the pain it caused," she said.
"Where did you find the time to work on three different spells?" Isaac asked. "We didn't get back in town until evening yesterday."
"I had all night to make these. Believe it or not, Grams has a lot of magic spell books in the basement and I needed to follow the instructions down to the letter," Andi replied with a lopsided smile.
"Did you get any sleep after making these?" Isaac asked and Andi simply shook her head.
"Don't say anything until I say so," she said as she took out a candle from her bag, a lighter and a small container of salt. Isaac watched as she put the candle on a shelf and used the lighter to light the wick. Once the candle was lit, she opened the container and poured the salt into the flame. "We're all set."
"What kind of spell is this?" he asked.
"It's a silencing spell. As long as this candle burns, no one will be able to hear what any of us say in this room, especially the Twins," Andi answered and Isaac nodded. "Now that I'm sure no one can hear us, I think I know who the other witch is."
"Did you find out at the motel?" Isaac asked and Andi nodded.
"I had to share a room with Kendall and when I was in the bathroom, Ethan came by and they were talking about something wearing off and that she needed to do it again and she said there was no point in hiding their thoughts since we knew their plans. I think she was the one who put the protection spell on them to keep me from hearing their thoughts and it was starting to wear off," she explained.
"Why would she protect their thoughts?" Isaac asked.
"I think she made a deal with Deucalion. The deal was to keep their thoughts safe from me in exchange for protection. All she has to do is tell him what I did to her on the bus and they will kill me," Andi said and Isaac's eyes widened.
"Well, we need to deal with her," he said as he was about to head out of the supply closet but Andi grabbed his arm.
"Isaac, wait! Listen to me. Kendall made a deal with Deucalion in exchange for protection. If she needed to go to him of all people for it, something or someone horrible must be after her. And if she backs out of that deal, Deucalion will hunt her down and kill her himself. So then she'll have a target on her back and two threats after her. She'll spend the rest of her life on the run until one or the other kills her," she said and Isaac shook his head.
"Why would you care about her after she was so horrible to you?" he asked.
"Look, Kendall is still a bitch and I could care less about her but if I'm gonna be the witch who protects this town from any threats at all, I need to protect everybody and that includes Kendall. I didn't spend all this time learning magic to let more people die, especially if there is a way for me to stop it," Andi said and Isaac sighed. "Give me some time to talk to her."
"And if we can't get her away from Deucalion and that other threat?" Isaac questioned.
"Then we kill Deucalion and hunt down that other threat ourselves," Andi answered.
"And what about the other alphas?" Isaac asked.
"Simple. We kill them," Andi said as she looked at him. "Let them try their worst."
"Andi, this is a pack of alphas," Isaac said.
"Look, I get it. A homicidal lizard was one thing, but an entire pack of alphas?"
"An entire pack of alpha werewolves that wants Derek to kill his betas."
Andi scoffed. "I said it before and I'll say it again. Let them try their worst."
━━━━
After Andi blew out the candle, she and Isaac left the supply closet and separated. Isaac needed to get Boyd so they could go to Derek's to help him and Andi needed to find Kendall. It was a pain in the ass to wait for the end of the day and when the day was over, everyone flooded the hallways to leave and go home. As soon as she saw the brunette, she grabbed her arm and dragged her into an empty classroom.
"What the hell is your problem?!" she questioned when Andi let go of her. "I will report this to the principal!"
"Shut your yapper and listen up, Kennedy," Andi replied with her hands on her hips.
"It's Kendall!"
"Kendall my ass! I know you're a witch and I know you're helping the Alpha pack and you're gonna tell me everything you know before I feed you to one of my werewolf friends. Clock's ticking so you better start talking," Andi said and Kendall scoffed.
"You sound like a crazy person. You should consider spending some time at Eichen House," she said as she tried to leave but Andi grabbed her arm.
"My friends are in danger and your alpha buddies are trying to kill them and you're just gonna sit here and act like you have nothing to do with it. I heard your conversation with Ethan and I know about the deal you made with Deucalion. Tell me everything before I lose my patience," she said but Kendall just laughed.
"You can't hurt me while we're in Beacon Hills. The Nicks witches are supposed to protect everyone who lives here. And I know you know that includes me," the brunette said with a smug grin on her face.
"Wrong. My grandmother may not be able to do any big spells but she still has the knowledge and she's still alive and kicking. So until she's officially retired or six feet underground, she will remain the town's protector and I have no obligations to keep you alive, especially if you're not gonna be of any use to me," Andi said and Kendall shook her head.
"If you know about my deal with Deucalion then you should know I can't just turn my back on them," she said.
Andi smirked. "I'm sorry, I don't think you understood what I said," she said as her smile dropped and her eyes turned green. "Tell me everything right now or Deucalion will be the least of your worries."
"Are you saying you'll kill me yourself?" Kendall questioned with a little hitch.
"Not as long as you cooperate. Three," Andi started counting down and Kendall shook her head.
"You don't understand," she said but was cut off when Andi lifted her hand and an invisible force constricted her breathing.
"Two," she said.
"Please, he'll kill me if I betray him!"
"One."
Andi tightened her hold on Kendall's neck until she finally cracked. "They're gonna cut the power!" she said.
Andi let go and Kendall collapsed onto the floor as she gasped for air. "Go on," the blonde said as she stood over her.
"They're gonna force Derek to kill one of his betas. They're gonna cut the power so they can break into his loft and Derek will be forced to either join them or kill one of his betas," Kendall said.
"When?" Andi asked.
"Tonight," Kendall answered. Andi sighed through her nose as she grabbed her stuff and started heading out of the room. "You're wicked."
Andi stopped in her tracks and looked at Kendall over her shoulder. "I know."
As she was walking away from the school, she pulled out her phone to dial Isaac's number but it went straight to voicemail. She cursed under her breath as she called Scott and fortunately, he answered and Andi didn't give him any time to say anything before she rushed everything out.
"The Alpha pack is going after Derek tonight and they're gonna cut the power so they can break into the loft," she said.
"How do you know this?" Scott asked.
Andi stopped walking and thought about what Kendall said. If the Alpha pack was to find out that she ratted them out and told Andi what they were planning, Deucalion would kill her. She would just have to lie for the time being and she had to make it good. "I overheard the Twins," she said. "Now someone needs to get in contact with Boyd, Isaac or Derek and warn them."
"I'll tell Cora. Maybe she can relay the message to Derek. In the meantime, I need to find out where Deaton is because he was taken too," Scott said and Andi sighed.
"Sounds like we got our hands full," she replied before hanging up.
She sighed as she rubbed her eyes and kept walking. This is gonna be hell.
━━━━
Andi met up with Scott, Stiles, Cora and Lydia at the animal clinic when Stiles said he had a lead in finding Deaton's location. Andi felt like her brain was going to explode as Cora asked how Danny's homework was going to help them find Deaton.
"This isn't just homework. Danny was doing a project on geomagnetic fields that flow through the earth and can be affected by lunar phases," Stiles said.
"Grams never said anything about telluric currents," Andi sighed.
"Look at the note Harris wrote," Stiles said as he pointed to the red inked note at the top of the page.
"I strongly advise you to choose another subject. The idea's here, while innovative and thoughtful, border on pseudoscience. Not suitable for class," Lydia read out loud.
"So Harris wasn't just a sacrifice, he knew something," Scott said.
"And Danny was getting close to knowing what it was," Andi added with her arms crossed.
"And Allison's dad wasn't the only one who had a map, Danny had one too. He marked all the telluric currents and the weird thing about Beacon Hills is that it actually is a beacon and you won't believe how much of that energy flowing through this earth is around this town," Stiles said.
"Look, they match. There are three places where they were kidnapped and where their bodies were found," Scott said as he circled the locations.
"That's right on a telluric current," Lydia said as she pointed to a spot on the map.
"So, maybe where he was sacrificed is somewhere right in between," Scott said.
"You said there's six more bodies to be found. Deaton's one of them. He has to be somewhere in between, right?" Stiles questioned.
Cora grabbed his hand and moved it along the map until the pen was hovering over the location of the Beacon Hills National Bank. "He's in the same vault," she said.
Lydia packed up the maps and all the pages to Danny's homework while everyone started to leave the clinic. "Wait," the strawberry blonde said.
"We don't have time for this," Scott said.
"It's Boyd," Cora said as she looked up from her phone. "The plan didn't work."
"What do you mean?" Andi asked.
"They cut the power," Cora answered and Andi looked at Scott.
"I might have forgotten to tell her about what you told me," he said sheepishly.
"Scott, I gave you one thing to do!" Andi said as she shook her head. "You know what, forget it. We need to get over there now."
"You guys get to the loft, I'll get to Deaton," Scott said as he rushed out and the others hurried over to Stiles' jeep.
Andi and Cora sat in the backseat while Stiles drove and Lydia sat in the passenger. Andi's fingers drummed against her knee with anxiety as her mind came up with the worst case scenario. For all they knew, Boyd and Isaac could already be dead or Derek could have already agreed to join the Alpha pack. When they got to the loft, they immediately rushed to the circuit breaker.
"You guys take care of that, I'll get to the others," Andi said.
"How are you gonna take on a pack of alphas?" Cora asked.
"I got some tricks up my sleeve. Text Isaac as soon as you get it," Andi replied before hurrying over to where the others were.
When she got there, the Twins were holding Ms. Blake with a hand around her throat and Derek was fighting Kali while the loft was flooded with water. She held up her hands and the Twins grabbed their heads as they groaned in pain and collapsed on the floor. She helped Ms. Blake up but one of the Twins grabbed Andi and wrapped his hand around her throat. Before she could even think of what to do, he lifted her up and threw her into the water. She coughed as she got up and panicked when Isaac looked at his phone, knowing that he got the text message. He rushed over and pulled her out of the water in time before the electricity flowed through the water and electrocuted Derek, Boyd and Kali. All the werewolves in the water collapsed but Kali was the first to get up.
"Take him!" she shouted and the Twins ran over.
"No!" Andi said as raised her hands and the Twins were frozen in their spot.
She wasn't about to let Boyd die, not on her watch and not while she was there to stop it. They already lost Erica because of them and they almost lost Derek. They weren't going to lose Boyd too. The Twin alpha fought against her hold but she refused to let them go. Suddenly, Kali pulled out something that looked like a tuning fork and tapped it against the table. Andi screamed as she covered her ears, letting go of her hold on the Twins. The high frequency made her feel like her head was about to split in half and it wouldn't stop.
The Twins held Derek down while holding up his claws and Kali grabbed Boyd. Andi tried to get up but Kali already dropped Boyd right onto Derek's claws. Andi groaned as she could hear and feel Boyd's pain on top of the high frequency Kali caused. "I'm giving you until the next full moon, Derek. Make the smart choice or I'm killing all of you," Kali said before she and the Twins left the loft.
Andi rushed over to them as Boyd collapsed and her hands hovered over his wounds. Her mind was flooded as she tried to bring him back but he wouldn't move and she couldn't feel him. Cora and Stiles ran over and Andi dropped her hands as Cora started crying. She tried to save everyone from the Alpha pack and now Boyd was dead. And even though they weren't best friends or even regular friends, she tried to save him. She couldn't save Heather or Erica and then she couldn't save Boyd. How many more people were going to die because of her failures?
