Happy Birthday, Heather

"ARE WE SERIOUSLY DOING THIS RIGHT NOW?" Andi asked while looking at Stiles as they walked down the street to his friend's house.
"Guys, it's just a birthday party. I went to nursery school with this girl, so trust me," Stiles replied.
"But shouldn't we be helping Isaac get his memories back?" Andi asked once they stopped right in front of the house where the party was being held.
"You heard what Derek said. We'll get on it tomorrow," Stiles said.
"And by 'we,' you mean me," Andi said with her arms crossed.
"You're the one with all the magic," Stiles replied and Andi rolled her eyes.
"But other than that, it feels weird going to a different high school's party," Scott said.
"Guys, just trust me. For tonight, no Allison, no Lydia and no magic," Stiles said and the others finally gave it.
"Fine, you win," Andi said.
Scott and Stiles did some weird handshake and Andi just shook her head as they walked up to the house and went inside. The place was filled with people drinking from blue solo cups and Andi just stood there with her hands in the pockets of her jumper.
"Stiles!" a blonde girl said with a wide smile as she walked up to the pale boy.
"Hey, Heather! There's the birthday girl─" Stiles didn't even finish his sentence before the blonde grabbed his shoulders and planted a long kiss on his lips while he stood there awkwardly.
Andi and Scott looked at each other with their lips parted until Heather pulled away and Stiles was left in a daze.
"I'm so glad you could make it," she said and Stiles nodded.
"Me too," he replied.
"Come downstairs and help me pick out a bottle of wine."
"Alright, sure."
The two of them walked away and Andi and Scott just stood there with smirks on their faces. "Was that code for 'let's go have sex' or am I missing something?" Andi asked and Scott shook his head.
"Nope, you're pretty much spot on," he replied before looking at the dark skinned girl who was with Heather. "Hey."
The girl simply looked at Scott from head to toe before walking away without a word. Scott looked at Andi who only shrugged her shoulders with a sympathetic smile. They both heard his phone vibrating in the pocket of his jeans and his face fell when he looked at the screen.
"Allison?" Andi asked and Scott nodded.
"She's here and she wants me to meet her outside," he said.
"Do you want me to go with you? I can give her the good old fashioned aneurysm," Andi said and Scott looked at her in horror.
"Absolutely not!" he replied.
"Migraine?" Andi asked.
"No!" Scott said.
"Mild headache?"
"Andi!"
"Fine!" Andi said with her arms crossed. "I won't do anything to her."
The both of them walked outside of the house and Allison and Lydia got out of the car. Both Andi and Lydia looked at each other with their arms crossed, both of them warning glares.
"This isn't the talk we were gonna have, is it?" Scott asked and the brunette shook her head.
"I need to show you something," she said as she rolled up her sleeve to reveal a bruise on her right arm.
"What exactly are we looking at?" Andi asked and Lydia narrowed her eyes at her.
"They're the exact same," Allison said as her strawberry blonde friend rolled up her own sleeve and exposed a bruise on her left arm.
They both looked similar but that still didn't tell them anything.
"What is this supposed to mean?" Scott asked and all Allison could do was shrug her shoulders.
"Well, I was hoping you would know someone who would be able to tell us," she said.
"Can't you tell us what it is?" Lydia asked while glaring at Andi.
"I'm not a psychic, Lydia," she said and scoffed when she heard the words useless bitch floating around in Lydia's head.
"Oh, so you can't tell us what it means?" she questioned.
"Do not push me, Lydia. Next time the words 'useless bitch' comes to mind, at least have the balls to say it to my face," Andi said as she stood right in front of the strawberry blonde whose eyes widened.
"I didn't say─"
"You didn't have to," Andi cut Lydia and looked between her and Allison. "It's no wonder you two are friends."
Andi still hadn't forgiven Allison for the things she said to her. Not only that, but she was still upset with her for how she treated Scott and for attacking Isaac when he had nothing to do with her mother's death. Between the events with Jackson and summer break, she had plenty of time to at least apologize but she couldn't even do that.
"Getting back to the main topic at hand here," Scott said, referring to the bruises on the two girls' arms. "We can talk to Derek and see if he'll be able to tell us something."
"I doubt it," Andi replied.
"Well, could we at least try?" Allison asked.
"You wanna go to him with some bruises and tell him it's a sign, be my guest but he's not gonna be on the same page," Andi said with her hands in her pockets.
"How would you know?" Lydia asked.
"Have you ever held a full conversation with that man?" Andi countered but all Lydia could do was stand there in silence and Andi laughed. "That's what I thought."
She turned around and started walking back towards the house while Scott called after her.
"Where are you going?" he questioned.
"Where does it look like I'm going?" Andi asked with her arms outstretched to the sides while looking at Lydia and Allison. "Anywhere they're not."
Andi went back inside the house where it was still crowded and the music was still playing loudly. She grabbed one of the blue solo cups and was about to pour herself some punch but then remembered what happened the last time she drank homemade punch at a birthday party. She saw someone near the table with a cup of his own and tapped him on the arm. He was taller than her by at least a foot and his black hair was short in the back but in the front it was long enough to fall in front of his bright blue eyes and it contrasted against his pale skin. He had a few tattoos on his arms and he wore a lip ring and a nose ring.
"Sorry to bother you, but do you know what's in this?" Andi asked while pointing to the bowl of punch on the table.
"Hawaiian punch, pineapple juice and ginger ale," the boy answered and Andi looked at the brightly coloured liquid. The boy smiled at her apprehension and laughed lightheartedly. "Don't worry, it hasn't been spiked with alcohol or anything like that."
"Thanks," Andi said as she poured herself a cup and took a sip.
"I'm Blake," the tall boy with tattoos said and she nodded.
"Andi," she replied.
"I've never seen you around before," Blake said and Andi only shrugged her shoulders.
"I've been here for almost seven months now," she replied.
Blake smiled. "What school do you go to?" he asked.
"Beacon Hills High," Andi said and Blake nodded. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're not a high school student, are you?"
"I actually just graduated this year," he said.
"So, are you a friend of Heather's or something?" Andi asked before taking a sip.
"Actually she's my ex as well as my friend. We dated when she was a sophomore and I was a junior but we decided to just be friends," Blake answered and Andi smiled awkwardly. She had no idea what the dating life was like so she didn't really know what to say. "What about you?"
"Huh?" Andi asked and Blake chuckled.
"Why are you here? Do you know Heather?" he asked and Andi shook her head.
"Actually, she's a friend of a friend. He brought me and his other friend here so we could all take our minds off a few things," Andi said before tipping her head back to finish the rest of her drink.
"One of those nights?"
"Yeah."
Andi was about to pour herself some more punch but a chill went down her spine. She couldn't hear Blake's voice as all the others became muffled and the music became muted. All she could hear was a jumble of mixed voices as they all tried to be louder than the next. Suddenly, all Andi could hear was a high pitched scream and someone calling out for help. She started walking through the crowd without thinking and then stopped in front of a closed door. She turned the knob and pulled it open and there was a flight of stairs descending into the dark. She carefully walked down the stairs and the shelves of wine bottles gave her the hint that she was now standing in the wine cellar. She noticed a bunch of broken glass and bright red liquid on the floor that gave her the impression that a few bottles had fallen. She listened for the person the scream belonged to but it was like she was reeled back into reality.
"Andi! Are you okay?" Blake asked as he gently shook her shoulders.
She looked around and realized that Blake had followed her downstairs and he looked pretty concerned. "I thought I heard someone screaming," she said.
"There's no one here," Blake replied but then the door opened and Stiles came downstairs.
He looked between Andi and Blake before Andi spoke up. "Stiles, this is Blake. He's a friend of Heather. Blake, this is Stiles. He is also a friend of Heather and he's the reason I'm here," she said and Blake smiled with a friendly wave.
"Speaking of Heather, have you seen her?" he asked.
"Actually, she was just down here," Stiles said but Blake shook his head.
"There's nothing down here except a mess of broken wine bottles," he said while Andi noticed a pair of shoes near the mess.
"Hey, Stiles. Do those shoes happen to belong to Heather?" she asked and the boys turned to look where she was looking.
Stiles said that Heather was down there but when the three of them got there, she was gone and all that was left was a mess and her discarded shoes. The situation left all of them very confused until Stiles decided to call his dad and explain to him what had happened.
━━━━
The police declared Heather missing after asking everyone if they saw or heard anything. When they asked Andi, Stiles and Blake why they were in the wine cellar, they simply told them what they could. Stiles told them that he went upstairs for something, leaving out the part that he was looking for condoms, and went back downstairs and Heather was gone. Andi told them that she thought she heard screaming and went downstairs to see what it was but all she found was the mess and Heather's shoes. Blake just told them that he followed Andi downstairs to see what was going on and saw the same thing she did.
"Do you guys need a ride home?" Blake asked and Stiles shook his head.
"We already got one," he replied by taking out his car keys and heading to the jeep with Scott.
Andi was about to follow them but Blake grabbed the sleeve of her sweater. "You said you heard screaming but I didn't hear anything. What exactly did you hear?" he asked.
"I already told you what I heard. I heard someone screaming and it came from the wine cellar," Andi answered.
"Then why could you hear it but nobody else did?" Blake questioned and Andi swallowed thickly.
Because I am a telepathic witch and can hear people's voices in their thoughts.
"Probably because they were too busy laughing and partying, I don't know, Blake. But I think it was Heather who was screaming and now she's missing," she said and looked at Blake's hand that was still holding onto the material of her sweater. "Can you let go now?"
Blake let go of her sweater and cleared his throat. "Sorry," he replied. "Just get home safe, alright?"
"I got more fight in me than you think. Plus, I got those two with me. We'll be fine," she said with a crooked smile.
Blake smiled back as Andi turned around and got in the backseat of the jeep and Stiles looked at Blake through the window and then at Andi through the rearview mirror. "What episode did I miss?" he asked and Andi rolled her eyes as she put on her seat belt.
"I only met him tonight by the punch table while you were about to play hide the zucchini with Heather and Scott was outside with Allison," she replied as Stiles started driving away from the house.
"Andi, you said you heard screaming. Do you think it was Heather?" Scott asked.
"If it was her, she wasn't just screaming. She was yelling for help but when I got down there, I couldn't hear her anymore," Andi said as she looked between Scott and Stiles.
"If you couldn't hear her, then she could already be dead," Stiles said and Andi shook her head.
"We don't know that for sure, Stiles. Maybe the reason I couldn't hear her is because she was too far by the time I went downstairs to look. It's not like I can hear every single person from around the world," she said and Scott nodded.
"Andi's right. We don't know what exactly happened," he said.
"Look, I can do a locator spell once I get my hands on a map," Andi said and Stiles looked confused.
"But you don't have anything that belongs to her," he said.
"I have her blood," Andi replied as she held up a small vial with blood in it and the boys looked at it in shock.
"How the Hell did you get that?" Scott asked.
"There was blood on the floor where the broken glass and wine was. I waited until Stiles and Blake were on their way back upstairs and I was able to separate her blood from the mess and put it in here," Andi said.
"How do you know it's hers though?" Stiles asked.
"Her shoes were on the floor and there was broken glass everywhere. It's not hard to figure out that she must've stepped in it. Also, you two were the only ones down there and you went upstairs to get a condom so she was the only one down there waiting for you to get back. Do the math," Andi replied as she put the vial in her pocket.
"But why do you just have an empty vial on you like you knew you were gonna be collecting blood?" Scott questioned.
"Grams says that you should always be prepared for anything. You never know when you might need to use magic to find someone," Andi responded while shrugging her shoulders. "Look, tomorrow I'll be at Derek's loft. We're gonna try to get Isaac's memories back and once that's done, I'll be able to locate Heather."
"Isn't Peter going to be there?" Scott asked.
"Unfortunately, but if he tries anything, I can take him," Andi replied.
"I don't doubt that, but wouldn't it just be better if he just, you know, doesn't show up?" Stiles asked.
"Trust me, I don't like it either. I don't exactly want him anywhere near Isaac but I'm not gonna put him through any trauma with the memory restoration spell and as of right now, we don't have any other options," Andi said.
Once Stiles got to Andi's house, she got out and went inside. Her grandmother was in the kitchen cleaning up and smiled when she saw her standing against the wall.
"Did you have fun tonight?" she asked and Andi shrugged her shoulders.
"It certainly got interesting. Allison and Lydia showed up with similar bruises and they think it could mean something. Stiles' friend went missing so I'm gonna need to use a locator spell tomorrow after I deal with Isaac's lost memories," she answered.
"This is why I told you to start carrying an empty vial on you. Now you need to find someone and you have what you need," her grandmother said.
"Stiles is worried that she might already be dead because I couldn't hear her when I got downstairs to look but I told him it might be because she could be too far away for me to hear her," Andi said and her grandmother smiled.
"After everything that happened, you're growing. Your power is growing and to see you using it to help people could not make me anymore happier," she said as she grabbed Andi's hand. "I just wish your parents could see how far you've come in just a few months."
"Me too, Grams," Andi replied.
Maybe one day, her parents would accept that she was a witch. Maybe they wouldn't but in the end, she was still a witch and she had her friends to help.
