Chapter Three

It was finally the night of the ball, and it was my only concern to make sure that everything ran as smoothly as possible.

"(Y/N), you look absolutely stunning," Prince Gumball commented as he entered the ballroom.

I was in the middle of setting up the drink table, but he easily caught my attention, looking rather handsome in his new suit.

"I could say the same to you, your majesty," I told him.

"People will be arriving soon," he commented.

"Yes, and I have extra guards set around the palace, so there should be no issues with the Ice Queen this time around," I informed him.

"I am sure that you have handled all of it, but (Y/N), do me a favor and have fun tonight. This ball is meant for everyone to enjoy...including you," he smiled, before walking off/

I couldn't help but blush at his words. The prince could be so sweet, but I never could judge how deep it went. Was he just nice, or was it me? I tortured myself with those types of questions all the time. Extremely inappropriate for my occupation, which I knew, but as I watched him make his rounds around the room, I couldn't help but be captivated by all of his moves.

In about an hour, the guest has arrived, and the ballroom was filled with the candy people and those in surrounding kingdoms. It was getting rather packed, and I could already feel myself getting uncomfortable. The prince hadn't given me a single task to do throughout the night, leaving me a little lost.

I decided to head towards the bar, hoping a drink may make me feel a little better, but I didn't get anything too strong, knowing that no matter what, I had an underlying duty to serve the prince.

"Hurry Cake!" A voice behind me shouted, running into me.

My drink instantly fell onto my dress. I turned my head to see that Fiona and Cake had just shown up, and they were already leaving an impact on my night.

"(Y/N), we need to find the Prince," Fiona stated, shoving me out of the way.

Not even an apology...

I let out an aggravated sigh, setting the cup down and making a straight line to the bathroom. I did my best to dab out the spot the best that I could, but it was definitely still damp. I thought about going to my quarters and putting on an older dress I had, but the prince would notice that. He may not notice a stain.

When I left the bathroom, the ballroom seemed to full up even more. I couldn't even walk without bumping into someone.

"OH, MY GLOB! What is wet!?" Lumpy Space Prince instantly shouted, drawing attention to me.

"Ew, like why are you wet? That's disgusting," he scowled.

Soon all eyes were on me, and I could only hold me head down until I managed to escape the ballroom to the back garden.

Finally, actual air.

I walked for about a minute or so, creating as much distance as I could from that ballroom. I always hated participating in nights like these. I am far too clumsy to act like the royalty; that's why I serve.

"Awfully far from the party, aren't you?" A voice asked me in from the shadows.

I instantly tensed up. I knew that the palace was far too noisy for anyone to hear me, so I could really only hope I wasn't in danger. If I was, I was screwed.

As long as it isn't the Ice Queen. As long as it isn't the Ice Queen. As long-

Suddenly, out from the shadows and gray-skinned man appeared, floating in the air.

"Ease up, princess. This is a party after all, isn't it?" he smirked to me.
