The white folks forgot we're humans too.
... in our own lands,we were segregated.
The man died in us,they made us scared ,
I couldn't blame my people.
The tyranny was strictly on their faces,
In fact life was so real in those days.
This white people,they devoured our women,
While they exported their husbands tied in chains.
... In the foreign lands,we became slaves.
We fed like ants and worked like donkeys,
Even though we had similar bodies,
We were still referred to as monkeys.
... why was it Africa?
They made us their legs on the ground,
Beasts-of-burden was our middle name.
We walked distances they couldn't ride with cars,
Our lives depended on it so we endured on the go.
... why was it Africa?
Traditionally,Africa survived in their dark days.
We're blacks but our thoughts was never dark,
We were astonished when we saw them first,
But when they saw us,they saw darkness in us.
... why was it Africa?
With time we turned Christians with faith.
But then our beliefs became our fate,
They made us accept that there was darkness in us.
Soon their seeds germinated with several fingers,
The doctrines differs with various views now.
