34- Family reunion

"Oh go fuck yourselves, the lot of you." I growled, kicking the grunt closest to me in the shin as I was roughly pushed into the back of a helicopter.

"Shut up girl." A grunt snickered, shoving me off my feet.

I hit the ground hard, making me cry out in slight pain but more shock.

Lopez snickered as I scrambled to my feet again, glaring at the Team Prosperity admin but this just seemed to amuse him more. "Welcome aboard Air Prosper, please sit back, relax and stay seated." He smirked, slamming the door and locking.

"Fucking piece of shit!" I yelled after him, kicking the metal door out of frustration.

This is why I don't like making friends. I grumbled out of pure frustration, watching from a window as the helicopter took off into the air. I'd been forced to return Night under threat of my brothers life (again) and I had to hand her over as well as all my other possessions over to the Team Prosperity Admin before being locked in the back of this cursed helicopter. I probably could escape quite easily but I wasn't willing to risk the lives of my Pokémon nor Silver and Red. Deciding it was pointless thing anything else, I sat in the back corner of the metal aircraft. The trip shouldn't really take that long since we're not that far from the destination I assume we're heading to.

I twiddled my thumbs idly, staring up at the circular window above me. The room alone had not light source other than the windows so I was trying to focus more on them then I was the dark. My childish fear was something I'd save for getting over another day.

So, how high are we?

"I have no idea."

Where about's are you then?

"Locked in the back where cargo normally goes." I answered with a sigh.

Are you hurt?

"Nope."

Well that's a relief.

"I'm majorly annoyed though."

Hey, I'm the only one allowed to annoy you.

"Looks like Lopez didn't get the memo."

Night huffed irritably but didn't say anything more.

"What do you think they want from me this time?"

A power source, to control the most powerful being in the universe, to throw off the balance of light and dark. The possibility are as endless as the sky is blue for a being such as yourself.

"I was being rhetorical Night, I knew that already."

Yeah, I know. I just felt like bugging you. Feels like I haven't done that in forever.

"Currently not in the mood for your shit Night, or any shit for that matter."

Which is why I'm not bugging you.

"Your existence bugs me."

Ouch, that burn.

I rolled my eyes, letting out a small sigh of annoyance. The sun was setting beyond the window, threatening to soon leave me in darkness. My arms snaked around my knees, pulling them tighter to my chest in order to somewhat reassure myself. Something was going to happen, something really bad, I knew it in a way that came almost like an instinct to me.

Thankfully, the helicopter ride only went for and hour after that, an hour I spent trying to undo the lock like I have back in Unova out of boredom. I wasn't planning on going anywhere, but annoying the hell out of Lopez seemed like a good idea to pass time. Night had gone quiet, probably trying to escape her Pokéball. Despite all the extra abilities Night was given as my Guardian Angel, breaking out of her Pokéball with ease didn't seem to be one of them.

As soon as the helicopter hit the ground however, I was on my feet, ready to defend myself if I needed to. Nothing happened for a while as I waited for minutes to tick by to the point I thought I'd been forgotten about. But the idea was soon put to rest when the lock clicked, echoing slightly among the silence in the room before the door slide open. A grunt stood there, a Corrupt Scizzor by his side, neither looked in the mood for games.

Taking a deep breath in, i glared at the grunt, he was like all the others but his hair seemed naturally black compared to the others which seemed to be wearing either a wig or had their hair died to look the same shade of black. The grunt took hold of my upper arm, holding it tightly. I jerked back on instinct but the grip did not loosen as he dragged me from the metal flying contraption while I stumbled to keep up. What surprised me was instead of the symbol that was signature to Team Prosperity, the blackened symbol of mega evolution, the iconic yellow G of Team Galactic was printed on the side. I didn't know how I missed it when boarding but I certainly noticed it now.

Before I could ponder on the thought any longer, I was dragged away and into a somewhat familiar complex building. It didn't take long to loose track of where I was and where I'd come from, it was beyond me how the grunt even knew where to go, but eventually I was pushed into a room containing five people I instantly felt disdained.

The first was Cyrus, leaving me to believe I was going to get an explanation and a possible monologue on why Team Rift was using a Galactic helicopter. The second was Lopez, the first admin of Team Rift and currently number 2 on the list of people I wanted to beat up. The third, was Shadow, hiding towards the back of the room looking like he didn't even know I was here. I still wasn't completely sure how to feel about him but judging the fact he's still here I'm going to take it he's still the bad guy and I will treat him as such. The fourth was the second admin to Team Rift, Maxine who I'd briefly met during my first visit to this accursed base and I hated her instantly. The fifth I didn't know, her light brown hair was pulled up into a high bun and was remarkably similar to my own. Her eyes were a grey, silver sort of colour and held a look of indulging amusement. A smirk was printed onto her painted back lips as she gazed at my though her spectacles. Her uniform seemed to be a little more casual then what I've seen with the Team Rift grunts thus far. A black, collared jacket a over a button up white blouse but the unmistakable symbol of Team Rift had been embroidered on the shirts pocket. I couldn't see her lower half since she was sitting behind a desk as I'd been unwillingly forced to my knees. I glared at all five struggling against the grunts holding me down but he had to be three times my size and a whole lot stronger.

"Why how nice of you to join us, Emma." Cyrus smirked, saying my name with a cringe worthy amount of slyness.

"Cyrus." I spat, practically growling at him though my visually calm demeanour.

The two of us had a glaring competition for the next few moments until the new member of Team Prosperity cleared her throat. "Quiet no, the both of you." Her voice even and quite formal with the regular Kalos region accent. "I do believe introductions are in order. I am Kathrine, the leader of Team Rift."

"I'm honoured." I glared. "Get this grunt off me and I'll give you a curtsy." My voice coated each word in venomous amounts of sarcasm.

"I advise you not to use that tone with me young lady."

"Or what? You're not the boss of me, I'm here simply to rescue my friends and Pokémon before I kick your ass and get out of here."

"On the contrary Emma, I have plenty of control over you right now." Kathrine smirked deviously.

"Says who?" I questioned, switching my glare from Cyrus to the brunette.

"You don't remember me, do you Emma?"

I rolled my eyes. "If I did know, do you think I'd be asking?"

"Why Emma, while I am the leader of Team Rift, I am in fact, your mother."

Let's just say I'd this was a cartoon and I had a mouthful of anything, I'd be spitting it out everywhere right now. It had been more then a decade since my mother had last made an appearance in my life and now she turns up as a fucking member of an evil organisation out to get me. Could this get any more fucked?

My gaze switch suspiciously to my father, trying to fi use out if what she was saying was true or not. I couldn't remember my mother in the slightest after my childhood amnesia incident but it had still bee a decade since I'd last seen my mother. I'd lost all knowledge of my mother at that point, I'd even forgotten I had an older brother until Clair told me after my first run in with Silver all the way back in Sinnoh. A lot the memories I had been able to recover, several of me and my brother, a lot of the times Cyrus had abused me but never anything detailed about my mother so I was in the dark here, metaphorically.

"Why would I care?" I hissed.

She seemed slightly surprised. "Haven't you wondered where I've been all your life?"

"No, and frankly, I don't care. You abandoned me with an abusive drunk I'm forced to call my asshole of a father. As far as I'm concerned, you're no better." My eyes shot disgusted daggers in her direction. "I would of been perfectly happy without you two in my life after you were both out of it."

She narrowed her eyes at Cyrus as if the news was new to her. Shadow snickered from the background while both Maxine and Lopez looked slightly uncomfortable as slipped out of the room unnoticed by all but me when they decided their presence was no longer needed in this family reunion.

"So you ran away then?" She asked, curiosity clearly showing in her grey eyes.

"I did once, but I was just dragged back home for Cyrus to try to drown me in a river three days later." I shrugged despite being pinned down at the shoulders, my digust filled expression flicking from my Kathrine to Cyrus, trying to detect who was more of a threat. "It was child services that rescued me from Cyrus's custody."

"He is your father and you will refer to him as such." Kathrine's tone was clearly demanding and intimidating, to bad I'm rebellious against that kinda stuff.

"He is no more my father then I am your daughter." I spat. "Both of you made it quite clear that you didn't want me despite all my efforts to try and be good enough for either of you. All either of you did was make me, the rest I did on my own."

My mother glared at me. "I am your mother!"

"You abandon me with a drunk when I was five years old and didn't even make an attempt to take me away from him! You've kidnapped me twice and now you're also using the two people I hold most dear against me! The last time I was here you fucking experimented on my like your own fucking lab Ratatta! In what universe is that at all concideded motherly at all? You are not my mum, you could of been but you gave that up the moment you walked out on me and left my with Cyrus, Kathrine!" I spat, putting extra emphasis on both my biological parents names. "I'd rather be caught dead then refer to either of you as my parents."

"That can be arranged quite easily." Cyrus smirked.

"Go ahead." I matched his smirk with a glare. "See how much I fucking give a damn anymore, I'm here for my brother and friends, see what I care if I die in the process."

"Ah yes Silver, I almost forgot about him." Kathrine smirked as she pressed a button on a nearby intercom, perking up slightly in some sort of childish manor. "Bring him in." She said formally into the microphone.

Moments later Silver was dragged into the room through the same door Maxine and Lopez had disappear through. He looked exhausted and badly beaten, his red hair a mess on his head but that did not stop him from fighting against the two grunts holding him, his face written in fury as he struggled against his captors.

"Silver!" I yelped, struggling to get out of my own hold to be with my brother.

Silver's eyes met mine as he jerked out of the grasp of with grunt holding him, punching both of them in the face before doing the same with the one holding me. My big brother helped me to my feet before I hugged him tightly, more relieved then I could put into word to see he was okay. He returned my hold, through he was hugging me more protectively while glaring at the three adults that remained in the room. None of the grunts made an attempt to separate me from my brother, in fact, they just left the room, covering their bleeding noses or blacked eye.

"Are you okay?" Concern lingered in my voice as I worried over my brother.

"I'm fine." He muttered back.

A snicker brought me back to reality making me glare at my 'parents'. "What do you want from me?" I demanded, hugging my brother protectively.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Cyrus snickered.

"Cyrus, no need to be so serious." My mother said, frowning slightly at my father. "She will find out eventually, though not right now. For now, take them both away."

The grunts came up behind us, taking hold of my brother and I. Silver was quick to shield me away from them, holding onto me protectively as he had done earlier whilst being ready to defend me if needed to. It was funny how Silver and I were equally protective of each other to the point where it was almost a competition. But regardless, I let him shield me, knowing he was bigger and taller then I was so if our positions were reversed it would take a lot more effort.

Not one of the three grunts tried to separate me from Silver, probably figuring out that we'd both go a lot quieter if we remand together then we would if we were apart. Smart grunts, now that's a first. It was impossible for me to tell my way around this place, leaving me to suspect that Zoroark may have something to do with this, playing with my mind to see constant identical halls and rooms with their mastered illusions.

Silver and I were momentarily caught off guard when Silver was pushed into a small metal cell. I was held back for a brief moment while one of the grunts clamped a small black device to my wrist before throwing me in with Silver. My older brother caught me without much effort, hugging me tightly before pulling back. "Are you hurt? Where have you been? Do you have any idea how worried I was?"

"I'm fine Silv, it's kind of a long story..." I sighed, not letting go of my brother.

"Well I don't think we're going anywhere any time soon."

I reluctantly let go of my older brother, looking into his worry filled silver eyes. "Okay, but first, is that really our... mother? I don't remember her..."

Silver and I were only half siblings, the common parents being our mother. When Silver was a baby our mother left Giovanni, Silver's dad, for Cyrus, my biological father. Giovanni and Silver both kept in contact with my mother, though both out father's hated each other, but after our mother left Cyrus and disappeared from all our lives, my relationship with my brother had been cut off. I was only five the last time I had seen my mother while Silver had been seven so naturally, he'd be the one who could remember her.

The red head trainer nodded. "Yeah, unfortunately. Looks like we both came from parents who belong to evil organisations, the leaders no less." He sighed. "Kinda makes you wonder how we turned out like this when all our parents wish to destroy the world."

"I guess so..." I sighed in disappointment. I was hoping it had been a hoax but after Silver's confirmation, I knew it had to be true.

My gaze flicked down to my wrist, frowning at the familiar device. I attempted to form a ball of fire at my fingertips to no avail. I groaned. "Not this again, how did these guys even figure out how to make these things. Alder said all blueprints, plans and copies for this fucking device were destroyed." The device was the exact same thing used on me twice back in Unova, cancelling out my powers with a painful burn in my arm.

"Looks like Team Rift found a way to copy it..." My older brother sighed, inspecting the device. "Looks like it's not coming off easily."

"What was your first hint." I rolled my eyes.

Silver was silent for a few moments. "You still owe me a story." My brother reminded me, gently placing a hand of my back in attempt to change the mood.

"I know, but one more question, is Red okay, and my Pokémon?" I asked eagerly.

"I'm down here!" Red's voice called from further a down the hall. "Opposite you two cells down."

I looked towards the source of the voice, catching sight of Red a few cells down. He didn't look in any better condition then my bother, a bruise clearly showing just below his cheek bone.

"Why didn't you say anything?" I almost growled but relived to see my friend alive.

"You two sounded like you were having a sibling moment and I didn't want to ruin it... Sorry..." He smiled Mareep-ishly.

"It's okay." I sighed. "I'm glad to see you're okay."

"Likewise." He said with a smile that was a bit more genuine but still obviously forced.

"I'm not sure about your Pokémon." Silver interjected. "I'm not sure about any of ours actually or Anne either... She was here but they took her away yesterday-ish and I haven't seen her since." He glared slightly at Red whom simply shrugged.

"She's fine... I hope." I muttered. "Lopez used her to prove Team Rift had you guys when they caught me. I got her away before I was caught, I'm not sure what happened to her after." My gaze shifted over the contents of my shared cell.

My prison, as usual for me, was bare. A handle-less door leading to a tiny dingy looking bathroom. Every cell looked the exact same from what I could see so deciding there was nothing really better to do, I sat down in a corner and pulled my knees to my chest. My brother sat to my side as I rested my chin atop my knees. "You comfortable?"

Silver snorted. "As I can be in here?"

"Can you hear to Red? I don't want to be explaining this twice."

"Yeah, I can hear you." Red replied from his own cell.

"Well then..." I began before retelling the story over what happened over the past few days.

Heyo guys~! I'm sorry for such a late update. I wanted to get this chapter right since it's such a big... I don't know, plot twist I guess? No one as far as I know guessed that Emma and Silver's mum was leader of Team Rift and I wanted her introduction to be just right. I re-wrote this like six times before I finally came up with this which I'm still not particularly happy with but I'm sick of writing this over and over so I'll fix it up later if I can be bothered.

Actually, when this book is done, I'm thinking of deleting the series and going over all three books since there are quite a few inconsistencies through out the three books that need to be edited but I'm not sure yet.

Anyway, please vote, comment and as usual, keep on reading on~!
