Author's Note: This was probably the longest update I have ever written to this book lol. So please read and comment below. I would really appreciate it. Also, let me know if I make any errors.

Hey everyone. Yes it's me back to do another update to this. So for this part I just wanted to do another quick little discussion piece seeing as how I feel like I haven't done one like this in a little while.

Ok so now my attention is turning to the comics right now and well a lot has changed with DC comics over the past year including the person who will end up being Damian's love interest in the comics and that character is none other than the "4,000 year old teenager" known as Djinn. (I still don't get how you can be 4000 years old and still a teenager. But I guess I'll just deal with that).

Now before everyone chimes trying to hate on Djinn. I wanted to give my 2 cents in on the character and how she came to be. I actually like Djinn as a character. I think that out of all the new Teen Titans characters that they've introduced she seems to be the most intriguing. Her background is a great mystery right now and I hope we find out more information on her very soon.

Anyways, before we get to talking about Djinn in the comics now we need to talk about how this new team formed and such to get to we are now.

A Little Background:
So back earlier this year an event known as Justice League no Justice was released that broke the DC Universe. (And not in the best way). Before this event happened DC had just wrapped up its Dark Nights Metal event which also changed things but all the teams were still together at that point. However once Justice League no Justice happened it was basically used as an excuse to do a massive overhaul with all the teams and not in an organic way whatsoever. Well for the Justice League it felt more natural but definitely not for the Titans and Teen Titans. It was all very half assed.

(What the hell is batman talking about? At what point did Damian change altogether in the storyline. We never see this happen and why would he break up with his team? Show don't tell).

The previous Titan and Teen Titans rosters were broken up and characters just disappeared altogether with no clear explanation at all. For the Teen Titans the team (pre no justice) was made up of Raven, Kid Flash, Damian, Aqualad, Starfire, and Beast Boy And after the event Aqualad disappeared completely, Starfire is joining the Justice League Odyssey group,  Beast Boy And Raven we're no longer on the team and just join up with the Titans. So you mean to tell me that we never saw this team that we followed through the past 20 issues of this run break up. You would think something as important as that would be shown but it wasn't. In fact all we were told is that the teen titans were going rogue. That's it. Also, the same thing happened in the Titans books with the characters of Omen and Tempest just disappearing without proper sendoffs. It was a mess.

I should also point out at this time that a writer  named Brian Michael Bendis was coming in from Marvel and him coming in messed a lot of things up.

(This was a warning sign).

DC for some reason gave this guy who has never written anything DC full control over Superman and because of that Super Sons had to be cancelled and we lost both Dan Jurgens and the wonderful peter j Tomasi on Superman and super Sons. That created a ripple effect in the DC Universe where Damian didn't have his best friend to help guide him down the right path and he all of sudden went rogue and brutal again in the Teen Titans Special #1.  You mark my words if Jon was still around and not shot off into space then Damian wouldn't have turned like he did. (A turn which felt very forced to begin with). A theory of mine with this is that Dan Dido is trying to eliminate all hopeful things in DC and turn everything dark and depressing and back to his New 52 again. Which kind of sucks because Rebirth was supposed to bring back that sense of hope and optimism as well as bring back relationships that were lost. That was the whole point of DC Rebirth. You see this stuff effecting all the books. The superfamily is broken, the Batfamily is falling apart, the flash family is falling apart, and the once fun teen titans have gone full edge lord. (Or as I like to call them the Teenage Suicide Squad).

So with all that said and the previous team being broken up Damian had to recruit a brand new team of characters. Since they got rid of Raven, Beast Boy, Starfire, and Aqualad. Now, I understand getting rid of starfire since she's an adult but raven and beast Boy are still teenagers and should still be on the teen titans. The same can be said for Aqualad. (I haven't read Aquaman is he in that because I have no idea). I don't get where he went. But, anyways they changed up the teams and now we have this new batch of characters. I understand having Damian form his own team and I think it's cool to introduce new characters but how come Damian didn't recruit Maya Ducard/Nobody to join his team and also where the hell is Goliath!?

(Don't worry Goliath I haven't forgotten about you).

The New Team:

(BTW I hate the way they drew Damian's face here. Him doing the duck lips is too much for me).

Anyways, so since the old team was pretty much thrown aside we have this new team. The only member who carried over with Damian was Wallace West/Kid Flash. Everyone else is gone off doing their own thing. Anyways, So after recruiting Kid Flash the first person Damian Recruited was Emiko Queen/Red Arrow. (Who they seemed to originally be setting up as a couple when Percy was on the book but as of right now they just seemed to drop it without any mention of their prior histories. But, who knows they might be saving it for later). She fulfilled the roy Harper/archer role on the team. Then we had Crush who is the muscle of the group and kind of fits the outsider/alien type character of the group. The next character we get is roundhouse who is filling the beast Boy role of trying to be funny (but, without any real laughs so far), and lastly we come to Djinn who is filling the raven role of the group as the magic user.

The Raven of the Group:
Now that I got the intro out of the way (I know it was a lot but, there was a purpose to it. I had to introduce you to how this all came to be first). So with the intro and background done it's now time for me to try and ask and answer the question. Is DamiDjinn Just Damirae without Raven? I feel like if raven were about a 2-3 years younger in the comic books then Damirae would happen for sure. I think DC realizes how it has only grown in popularity since its inception and they want to try and capture that hence why it seems like they're trying to tap into it in this fashion without actually using raven. First off, let's look at what we know about Djinn so far. She's a girl with troubled past who has Don't some bad things. Like raven in Justice League vs Teen Titans when she accidentally unleashed Trigon and felt guilty over it. She uses magic like raven and also like Raven we know that she is afraid of someone very powerful finding her and possibly using her for evil purposes. Something that sounds a lot like Raven and Trigon where Trigon tries to use raven as a conduit.

Personality
In terms of personality it seems like she isn't exactly like Raven. It's kind of a cross between Raven and a little bit of Starfire. It's Starfire in the sense that she's kind of the fish out of water and doesn't understand most customs and the various meanings behind certain things. (You know while typing this I just thought of something. If you factor in the Starfire characteristic that Djinn has then this is supposed to be just like with Robin and Starfire in the old teen titans. Or maybe I'm just thinking to deep into this lol).

Anyways, back to the raven stuff the thing that makes her similar to raven is how she acts towards Damian.

It reminds me a lot of Justice League vs. Teen Titans. In fact I noticed two little moments that reminded me of that movie. (Well maybe 3 if you count this panel where she's being kind to animals and if try to connect it to when raven gave Damian Titus. But, that's just stretching it at that point).

The Similarities:
These two little moments feel a bit like they've are straight out of the movie.

1. You get the awkward flirty moment.

2. Then you get the part about the the goodness in your heart/kind and generous soul bit in between them.

Again, this isn't too much to go off of so far but it feels like they're in someway related to each other. But, the difference between the two is that we know for sure that something is going to happen between Damian and Djinn while with Damirae it's all still up in the air. (Which is why I'm hoping it happens soon in at least one medium).

It's Going To Happen:
Now, that I've talked a bit about the similarities and stuff you might be wondering if I'm just looking into things too deeply and that this whole DamiDjinn thing won't happen. Well here are the other pieces of evidence that all but confirm it's going to.

I actually talked about this in my DC Comics Discussion Page back in June where I basically confirmed that this was going to happen. This comes from an interview that the writer did with SyFy Wire about the new team. He even acknowledges the raven similarities at first glance but insists on the differences. (Differences which we have pointed out above).

The next piece of evidence is on the solicit for next months issue of Teen Titans in Issue #23

Now, of course this could just be the ring. But, based on the interactions we have seen so far, the interview done by the writer, and this solicitation for next months issue. It's clear to me that DamDjinn going to happen. That doesn't mean it will last awhile but it's super clear that Djinn really likes Damian and that she's going to try to hook up with him.

Conclusion:
Well after going over this I now feel like it's time for me to try and answer this question. Is DamiDjinn Just Damirae without Raven? Obviously there are the moments we have seen. But, on top of that the other similarities include Damian reassuring Djinn that she has a place to stay with Titans like he did with Raven in Justice League vs Teen Titans. Djinn is an outcast much like how raven was at one point. Then you have Djinn trying break through to Damian and let him know that he has someone there who is willing to talk to him about his own issues. So with all that said what is my stance on the question? Well I after thinking it through a lot my stance is that it's not 100% exactly like Damirae without Raven but it's very very close. Maybe it's just me but I see way to many similarities. Hence why i made this update in the first place. Although, you have to take into account that Djinn shares some of Starfire's personality. (Which makes me think that's the writer paying tribute to the Marv Wolfman and George Perez's legendary New Teen's run that introduced the Dick Grayson/Robin and Starfire's relationship by incorporating a bit of that into the Damian and Djinn thing). I can't be 100% certain. But, that's what I think. Now obviously this thing between Damian And Djinn ain't got nothing on Damirae. For one thing Damian and Raven are  actually around the same age in the DCAMU whereas Djinn was apparently trapped inside of her ring for thousands of years which would make her an adult in my book.

But, I guess nobody at DC thinks about these things and just considers her a teenager. I have trouble buying into that. But, I guess I just have to learn to except it. Otherwise this thing is going to seem really creepy to me seeing someone who is a couple thousand years old trying to be romantically involved with someone who is 13-14.

Anyways, I feel like I have rambled on way longer than I thought I would. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think DamiDjinn is Just Damirae without Raven? How do you feel about this pairing?
