Dreamswap!Chaos - Come little children.. - Hush

The information that Ink had given them was worth it's weight in gold, because without the false emotions brought on by Dream, the skeleton had reverted back to using pure logic just to cope with the current situation.

This meant that Ink could sort through all of the known information without emotions getting in the way and come up with a reasonable plan of attack.

The next possible target was an AU that really didn't like either side of their fight, they were allowed to visit and do things like grocery shopping, but the Royal Guards there tended to be vigilant if members from both sides were seen in the city and they really didn't need that.

Now, this meant that they had to use disguises, and knowing the 'Meme Squad', Ink expected them to use meme based disguises, so he had a bit of a shock when he entered the hole in the wall cafe that he had chosen to use as a meeting place, to find them already there, in simple disguises.

Error looked like a busker, complete with a violin, Cross looked like an ordinary Sans, having chosen not to wear his fluff and the Medic in the corner looked like an overworked college student, even with her hood up, complete with her clutching what looked like a half empty takeaway coffee cup. All three of them had hidden any memorable features or scars with clothes or covered them up in various different ways.

Ink had chosen to disguise himself as a businessman. He placed his briefcase down by the table, next to three backpacks, before he placed his order and he sat down.

"So, are you sure that they'll strike here next?" Cross asked.

"Yes, but I have members of Justice Regins posted at the other possible locations, this one had the highest chance of being next." Ink told him.

"Any changes with Dream?" The Medic asked.

"No, nothing, he seems to be getting weaker, as if his energy is being drained and the rate that this is happening at, he could be dust within a week or two if nothing is done."

"You said in your notes that some of the teenagers reported hearing a song Ink." Cross said, after Ink's order arrived. "What kind of song?"

"Mainly nonsense, they didn't hear any words and anyone that heard any words said that they were scrambled. I have specialists trying to decode it, I haven't heard back from them."

"And it's almost Halloween." Error said, which drew Ink's attention to him.

"He can't be that easy, can it?" He asked, frowning.

"I had almost forgotten about Halloween!" Cross smiled. "Do you think that Nightmare will let us go trick and treating again?"

"Do you remember what happened the last time that we did that?" Chaos asked.

Cross frowned. "Yeah, I do."

Chaos frowned but she then winced in pain, putting the coffee cup down, so that her hands were free to reach into her hood to rub at her forehead.

"Are your headaches acting up again?" Cross asked. "They normally act up about now..."

"Yeah, it hurts." Chaos hissed as the pain faded away. "But why now..."

"Because of Halloween." Ink said. "Halloween is said to be the day when the barriers between Life and Death weaken, allowing the dead to cross over. It's even possible, if you know the right Magic, to bring someone back to life. Most Human Magic Users experience a temporary power boost in the days leaving up to it, as well as some monsters. Headaches are a common sign of this. Dream keeps records of all of the Human Magic Users in Justice Regins, Green Magic Users are affected the most by this, and in some cases, monsters with Green Magic will be affected too."

"Wait a minute... " Error muttered. "Can the child kidnappings be linked to the fact that it is nearly Halloween?"

The Skeletons' eyelights widened as they thought about it but it was Chaos that gave the clearest response to his theory.

"Baka! Baka! Baka!" She hissed at herself. "I can't believe that I forgot about that!"

"Forgot about what?" Cross asked her.

"You guys do remember that Dream occasionally does this Q+A talk show for PR, right? In which he answers questions, explains and tells certain folk tales and legends that he and Nightmare heard while they were growing up or in some cases, saw with their own eyes? He chooses which ones that he talks about depending on what holiday season it is and a while ago, he spoke about the witch trials, which happened before their time. Their old village wasn't hit too hard, but there was three confirmed hangings, on Halloween itself."

"I do remember watching reruns of that, they tend to repeat them for the holidays." Ink said. "But what does that old tale have to do with what's going on right now?"

"Because they were hanged for what they did to the children. They drained the life out of the children to...."

Cross looked like he was about to be sick and Error was just as sick as him.

"They swore that they would come back, to finish what they had started, all those years ago."

"It could be something else, right?" Ink asked.

"That's the scary part, I don't know, it could be something else but do you have any explanation for what's going on, apart from that?"

"Fuck..." Cross hissed. "We are so screwed."

"Agreed." Error muttered.

"Yep, we're screwed, we are so dead." Chaos mumbled. "We don't have enough information and even combining it with the information from JR wasn't enough..."

"Well, in that case, we need fresh information and the only way that we're going to get that is to go out there and see this for ourselves." Ink finished his drink, before he paid for his share of the bill, noticing that none of them had brought coffee like him, they had gone for hot chocolate instead. "Town Square, at midnight, I want to see all three of you there."

Ink left the café, leaving the 'Meme Squad' to think, Cross reached out and he rubbed his thumb over the back of Chaos's hand. "Are you sure that you'll be okay?" He asked.

"I'll be fine." She said, handing two of the backpacks over to Error and Cross. "Go and get changed. I'll catch up and then, we can meet Ink at the Town Square."

The boys left their share of the bill behind, heading out to get changed, leaving Chaos behind. She waited a few minutes before she picked up her backpack and paid for her share of the bill, before she headed out in a different direction from the boys and Ink.

Her headache just wouldn't leave her alone.

"What's wrong with me?" She asked herself. "This happens every year, at Halloween, and every year, it just hurts even more..."

She could hear something echoing down from an nearly alleyway, a song. She frowned, before she took a step into the alleyway, followed by another. She continued to walk down the alleyway, with the song growing louder.

"Who's there?!" She asked. "Where are you?! Are you okay?!"

She couldn't hear anything now, it was quiet.

"Nighty?"

She sighed, she was just hearing things, she was about to turn around and walk away when she heard singing again.

"What the hell?" She asked, only to get a response.

"Hush now, Cursed One~"

Chaos quickly flicked her right wrist, using her Magic to recreate her frying pan.

"Who's there, answer me?!"

"We can't have you spoiling our fun~"

"What do you mean by that--" Chaos started to ask, only to gasp as her body refused to move, she looked down to see that her Soul had been summoned and there was a knife going through it. Her frying pan slipped from her hand as the knife was yanked out, the Magic used to form it fading away, as her blood started to slowly seethe out of the corners of her mouth and run down her chin.

Her knees gave away and she fell, landing on her knees before she slowly tipped to one side, landing on her left arm.

"Nighty night Cursed One! And don't worry about your friend, we're taking very good care of him~"

"Nighty, give him back!" She rolled over so that she was on her stomach and she reached out with her right hand, slowly summoning a purple blot. "Give him back! GIVE HIM BACK TO US!"

"Oh, is the little Cursed One going to cry? Does she miss her friend? Well, you're never going to see him again~"

"I said, give him back!" She yelled before she fired her purple blot, which frizzled out the moment that it left her hand, causing her eyes to widen in shock, this was not normal, what had this thing done to her?!

She couldn't hold on anymore. She could feel her eyes closing.

"Hey, Miss Cursed One~ There's been a change to our plans, involving you, but you won't be awake to see it~"

Her eyes finally closed, leaving her in the darkness.
