Dreamswap!Chaos - Come Little Children.. - Finale, Part 2
Error mumbled under his breath as he carried the dragons' painting to his spot, where Chaos was waiting for him.
"Why do I have to do this?" He asked.
"Because if I have to suffer being the 'Live Bait', then I have the right to drag you down with me and make you suffer too." Chaos told him.
"Just get them over here." Error muttered. "Let's get this over with."
--------------------------------------------
Chaos made sure that her hood was down as she walked pass the three kidnappers, who hissed at her. "Catch me if you can!" Chaos yelled, before she took off running, followed by them. She jumped over one banister rail, landing on the next floor, before she hopped on another banister rail, sliding down it.
She jumped off at the next floor, hearing her chasers coming after her, before she ran for the door, yanking it open before she went through it.
Chaos then ran over to Error, who had the painting ready. "Error! Now!" She yelled, before her chasers appeared.
Error nodded his head before he destroyed the seal that was keeping the dragons trapped within the painting, setting the dragons free.
A dust cloud erupted from where the dragons and the kidnappers meet. Error then threw the empty painting into the mess, before the two of them booked it, running away from the scene.
"That should buy Ink and Cross some time, come on, let's catch up with them."
--------------------------------------------
Ink and Cross jumped over the balcony's railing once they heard the noise from the distraction, landing on the lower floor. They quickly made their way over to Nightmare, being careful not to disturb any of the other ingredients, their surroundings, or the cauldron.
Ink removed the vial that contained the paint that allowed him to feel sadness, before he popped the lid off and tipped the vial so that a few drops of paint would fall into the potion. He screwed the lid back on and waited for Cross.
Cross was quickly checking up on Nightmare, messing around with the chains a bit, before he went over to Ink.
They made their way back to their landing spot and Cross summoned a pair of small Gaster Blasters that carried them back to the balcony, before he dismissed them, getting comfortable with Ink behind the railing.
"What did you do to the chains?" Ink asked.
"I adjusted them a bit." Cross told him. "It's in case Nightmare wakes up before they get here, and to them, if Nightmare is gone by the time they get here, it will look like that he escaped on his own."
Ink nodded his head, right as Chaos and Error joined them on that balcony. "Okay, all of us are here, let's enjoy the show!" Ink whispered, right before the three kidnappers entered the room, gathering around the cauldron.
They made themselves busy, grabbing whatever ingredients that they needed.
"Eye of newt."
"Tongue of toad."
"The Magic of a Cursed Being."
Ink stared at Chaos when he heard that and Chaos frowned at him. "It's none of your business Ink." She whispered to him, before their attention returned to what was going on in front of them.
The kidnappers continued to chant and adding ingredients to the potion, until it was ready.
They all took the goblets that were sitting on a nearby table, before they scooped up some of the potion with them, raising the full goblets to the ceiling.
"Oh Reaper of Souls, grant us our wish. Set us free from your chains and in return, we shall give you the lives of children!"
The kidnappers then drank the potion in unison together, a few awkward minutes went by, with nothing happening.
"Sisters, something is wrong, why is the potion not working?"
"Impossible, this should not be happening."
One of them then started to cough, drawing the other's attention.
"Sister?"
"And here we go." Ink said, right as that one started to throw up a black fluid that stained their skin, followed by the other two. The fluid then started to come from their noses, eyes and ears, covering them.
They all winced, apart from Ink, when the sound of a Monster Soul cracking came from all three of them and Dust fell to the floor.
"Well, that was anti-climactic." Ink said as they all made their way down to Nightmare.
"Not all adventures end with an epic final battle." Cross said. "Sometimes, they can end like this, with no epic final battle but with a silent end instead."
"Or the Author wants to wrap this story up so that she can move onto other ideas!" Chaos said as she kicked at one of the piles of Dust, scattering it.
"Look, whoever is speaking, can you not break the Fourth Wall, please?!" Error yelled at Chaos. "We kinda need that!"
"Fine. Okay. We'll stop." Chaos said as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"You guys do remember our deal, right?" Ink asked and the Meme Squad sighed.
"Just give us an hour to take back what they stole from us." Cross said as he freed Nightmare and he slung him over his left shoulder, while Chaos took back her missing Soul pieces. "And to get away, you can call in your cavalry once the hour is up."
Cross clicked his fingers, feeling the portal come to life, thanks to the fact that the Anti-Magic Field was gone. He went through the portal with Error, while Chaos just stayed there.
"Ink." She pulled up her hood. "We need a protocol, in case something like this happens again and the only way to stop it is to work together again."
"You do have a point, there is a possibility that a situation like this will happen again." Ink frowned. "But there must be reasonable proof and evidence to prove that it is necessary."
"I agree with that, this could happen again and next time things could be different."
"Then if you ever heard me say 'Code:Balance', I'm sure that you'll understand what it means but what did those kidnappers mean when they called you a 'Cursed One'?"
"As I said before Ink, it's none of your business, it's personal and let's leave at that. We'll see you again Ink, and next time, don't expect us to be as nice as we was today."
"Same here."
And with that, Chaos went through the portal and it closed behind her.
