Dreamswap!Chaos - Come little children.. - Finale, Part 1
They continued to climb higher, fighting off more of those creatures, as they raced to catch up with Nightmare and the kidnappers.
"This is starting to get boring. How many of these things do they have?!" Ink yelled.
"Yeah, and I lost track of my kill score a while back." Cross pulled his knife out of the latest creature that attacked them.
Chaos yawned. "They're trying to buy time and make us exhausted, but why?" She asked.
Error frowned, before he came up with an idea to cheer everyone up. "Only two things are infinite." He said. "The universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."
"Hey!" Chaos yelled, while Cross sniggered. Ink just frowned, this was stupid.
"Hey Ink, I have one for you!" Cross said. "The universe doesn't give a flying fuck about you!"
"You're just jealous because the voices in my head don't like you!" Chaos yelled as she switched from the spear to the scythe before they continued to crave a path through the creatures.
"Doesn't that count for all of us here?" Error asked.
"Actually, you're right about that Error." Cross frowned. "We all have voices in our heads."
"That's enough!" Ink yelled. "Stop being brats and focus on the mission!"
"Fine, we'll will." Cross muttered.
Chaos and Error mumbled something, they seemed quite upset with the quote fight being interrupted by Ink.
The group continued onwards, finding themselves having a small break from the horde of creatures.
"What time is it?" Cross asked as they reached another floor.
"I don't know." Chaos eventually said. "It feels like we've been here for several days but I do know that it's only been a few hours."
"T-Time out everyone." Error eventually said, leaning against a wall, panting. Cross looked like he agreed with Error, because he sat down where he was and he pulled Chaos down with him, pulling her head underneath his chin and she clung to his fluff, closing her eyes before she pulled her hood up, covering her face. The glow from her markings faded and Cross wrapped a part of his cloak around her.
Ink wasn't happy with this, but he had no choice, to go on his own would be suicide if he ran into another horde. It would be smarter to take this chance and regain some energy for the fights to come.
He sat down and he waited.
A cold wind started to blow, causing those sensitive to the cold, to shiver.
"Where is that wind coming from?" Cross pulled his fluff closer to him.
"It's not natural." Ink said. "We should follow it."
Error looked at everyone, before he got up. "That place was colder then this." He said, walking forwards. "Come on, let's put this to an end."
Everyone nodded their heads, even Chaos who was getting up and pulling her hood down. "Something is not right with this wind." Her purple eyes were glowing. "It feels wrong."
Everyone nodded their heads again and those who used weapons picked them up, double checking and redoing any loose laces or belts before they moved forwards, opening the door that they came across further down the corridor.
Ink slowly opened the door and everyone peeked their heads out to see where they were.
They were on what looked like an upper floor balcony, it wrapped around the entire room, with what should be the middle of the floor missing, allowing them to look straight down.
They quickly rolled or crawled their way over to the balcony, peeking over the edge of it to see what was going on underneath them.
The room below was set up like a potions lab, a cauldron was set in the middle of it, with the potion inside cooking on the fire.
Various other ingredients had been placed around it on tables, in jars, with Chaos recognising one of them.
"The missing parts of my Soul!" She whispered, pointing out the not completed Green Heart that was flowing in a jar full of green liquid, the physical form of her stolen Green Magic.
"Nightmare!" Error whispered, pointing out the purple wearing skeleton, chained to a chair, next to the cauldron. "Come on, let's get him, the missing Soul pieces, the stolen Magic and go! This is our chance!"
"Maybe, but what if they come back and find him gone?" Cross asked. "And the potion, what is it for? What if we ruin everything by acting now?"
Error frowned but it was Ink who spoke up. "Actually, I don't think that we have to do anything, I think that we can get them to take out themselves."
"What do you mean by that Ink?" Chaos asked but it was Cross who smirked at what Ink said. "I think that I know what you're talking about Ink." He said. "Do you need a distraction?"
"What do you have in mind?" The artist asked.
"The dragons in the painting, we're too low on Magic to fight them."
"Okay, I can see what it was like for them when they were friends." Error muttered. "But do you mind filling us in on the plan?"
"The plan is to let them take themselves out." Ink said. "All of the ingredients down there can be linked to neutral Magic, Green Magic is one of the most neutral Magic a Monster or a Human can use, and because the ingredients are neutral the potion will be neutral but if the potion can be swayed towards a positive or negative alignment, then there will be side effects.
The soul pieces were stolen to keep the Magic stable until they need to use it, they won't risk sabotaging their own potion but that still means taking it isn't possible, it would give us away."
"What Ink is trying to say is that if we can change the alignment of the potion." Cross said. "We can change what the potion is meant to do and at the moment, it is too risky to take the soul pieces back. Ink, you still have your vials, right?"
"Yes, I don't use them as often as I used to, because of Dream, but I still have them. We can use them to trip the balance, it will only take a drop or two to do that, the Magic in them is quite strong."
"You might want to use the negative aligned emotions, in his/ my current state, using a positive aligned emotion will do more harm then good to him/ me." Chaos said.
"That's a good point." Error muttered. "And considering that if one dies, then the other one will die too, part of their plan might involve them forcing Nightmare to drink some of that potion."
"Okay, that's Objective A." Cross said. "Objective B is releasing the dragons."
"Indeed, our best bet is to get their attention first and then lead them to where we plan to release the dragons, releasing the dragons is quite easy, once you know what to do." Ink said. "And depending on how much time that distraction gives us, we maybe able to do more than add a few drops of paint to their potion."
"Okay then, but I have a question." Chaos said. "How are we going to get their attention?"
"Live bait." Ink said. "Someone has to be live bait. It has to be someone that they haven't seen before, but has a close enough physical resemblance to someone that they do not like."
Error started to chuckle, looking at Chaos, while Cross started to wave his hands in front of his face. "Error, no! I do not want to be in the doghouse." He said.
"Why are you looking at me like that Error?" Chaos asked before she realised what he was thinking. "Error, no!"
"But it's time for payback." Error said. "For the time that Cross and I had to be live bait, so that you could sneak in and rescue Nightmare."
"Error, do I have to remind you who does most of the cooking for our group?"
"Error, please stop, I don't want to be in the doghouse!" Cross begged him. "Or live on takeways and the burnt thing that always ends up appearing when I cook, for a week again, please!"
"I don't care." Error said, he still held a grudge from the last time that they had to use the 'Live bait' plan.
Cross whimpered, before he gave Error the puppy dog eyes. "Error~"
"No Cross, no. It's her turn."
"Then, you get to be the guy who frees the dragons." Chaos said. "I'm not going through this on my own, because if I have to be the 'Live Bait', then I get to choose the guy who frees the dragons."
"WHAT?!"
"Then, I guess that means that me and Cross will be the ones to sabotage the potion." Ink said, not really caring about what was happening in front of him.
"Okay." Chaos said, before she grabbed Error by his hood and she dragged him with her so that they could get the painting.
She stopped before she opened the door. "Oh, and Cross!" She said, turning around so that she would look at him.
"Yeah..." The Oreo answered her, looking nervous and messing with his hands.
"You're not in the doghouse."
