Chapter 1

Update will be next week.

Beep beep beep!

"Just five more minutes..." I groggily mumbled, slowly opening my eyes, only to be attacked by the bright sunrays. I immediately shut them again and rolled to my left, blindly reaching out for my phone on the nightstand. My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as soon as I turned on the screen. Sleep? Long gone.

"What?! It's already 7:30?? I'm late!" I laughed at myself, still in disbelief that I had woken up late... again.

I leaped out of bed the moment realization hit me. Of course, I got tangled up in my blanket and phone charger as I stumbled around, trying to make it to the bathroom to clean up.

Cue the intro! Hi, I'm Park Y/N, but you can call me Jill. That's my nickname. I'm a high school student, and I live with my parents and my super annoying big brother, Jimin. But, I've got to admit, he's the closest person to me, and I love him the most... even when he drives me nuts. That was enough for an intro! I was late already!

Racing downstairs, I found my mom serving bread and omelette for breakfast. My dad had already left for work. Mom glanced at me with a sigh. "Aish... when will you learn to dress yourself properly?"

I looked down at my uniform and, lo and behold, I had buttoned it all wrong. Sheepishly, I rubbed the back of my neck and gave her my best innocent smile. She chuckled, fixing my mess of a uniform. Once I was dressed, I frantically started searching for my boots, activating my fast-forward mode.

"At least eat breakfast!" Mom scolded.

"No time! Mrs. Chung will kick me out of class!"

"You said the same thing yesterday! Why do you keep watching K-Dramas so late at night??"

I grabbed my bags and was just about to rush out when Jimin, still in his nightwear, called out from behind, "Hey, wait!"

I groaned impatiently, "What do you want now?"

"Just wait a second, I'll be right back."

"Hurry! I'm getting punished if I'm late again!"

Jimin chuckled and casually strolled back to his room. I couldn't believe it! He made me wait for a solid ten minutes during rush hour! Meanwhile, Mom took the chance to sneakily feed me breakfast.

"I can't wait any longer! Tell Jimin I'll get my revenge when I'm back—"

"No need, let's go, little sister." Jimin appeared, fully dressed in a sleek black suit, twirling his car keys around his finger. "Consider yourself lucky my shift starts at 9 a.m. today."

Gotta admit it, my brother looked so hot. 😍

My jaw dropped when I heard him. Here I was, with my soul practically leaving my body in a hurry, and Jimin casually says he's going to drop me to school!

"Stop gaping like a pig! Hurry up, little sister, or you'll get punished."

"Yah! Stop calling me 'little sister,' I'm in high school now!" I whined.

Jimin rolled his eyes, "Whatever... you're still five years younger than me."

At school.

I glanced at my watch—8:20 a.m. My class started at 8:30. Plenty of time. I was sitting at my desk, peacefully enjoying the view from the window when the most irritating guy in the class approached me—Kim Seokjin. He was also the most popular guy in school. Tall, handsome, and pretty good-looking, Seokjin was the one all the girls fawned over. And yes, this very same guy had a crush on me. You heard that right—he's been trying to woo me since middle school.

Now, I'm not saying I'm model-perfect, but I'm not bad-looking either—pretty ordinary, to be honest. But the real kicker? I couldn't stand playboys like Jin. Always bragging about how handsome he was. Ugh, so annoying!

"Hey, Jill!" he called out, swaggering over to me.

"What now?" I replied flatly, barely looking up.

"Your blunt replies hurt, you know?" he pouted dramatically, clutching his heart.

"Stop being so dramatic."

"You look beautiful today."

I rolled my eyes, "You give me that compliment every single morning."

He chuckled, "Because it's true... By the way, are you free tonight?"

"Hmmmmm...?" I trailed off, clearly not paying attention.

"Jill? Hello? Earth to Jill?" Seokjin waved a hand in front of my face, but I wasn't focused on him at all. I was busy looking at someone else. Feeling ignored, Jin stomped away with a grumpy face.

I was staring at another boy—Jeon Jungkook. He wasn't just the class topper; he was the whole package. Sure, he wasn't as flashy or as obviously handsome as Seokjin, but in my eyes, he was perfect. Jungkook was the kind of guy who aced every subject without ever bragging about it. He was the go-to person for help with assignments, and he'd patiently explain things without making anyone feel dumb. Plus, he wasn't just a brainiac—he was athletic too. Captain of the basketball team, always smashing records at track meets. And somehow, he balanced it all effortlessly.

There was this calm confidence about him. His discipline and dedication were so attractive, and whenever he was on the court or acing a test, I couldn't help but admire him even more.

I had secretly had a crush on him since middle school. He was polite, helpful, and the kind of person you could count on for anything. His aura was magnetic—he was the kind of guy who didn't need to show off, because his skills spoke for him. I wished I could date him, but I was far too shy to ever ask him out. Especially someone like him—he was way out of my league.

Suddenly, Jungkook turned around and looked straight at me. I hadn't even realized I'd been staring at him until he raised his eyebrows, gesturing 'What happened?' I quickly shook my head, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks. Oh no, I was totally busted.

He sat on the first bench, while I was back on the fourth. The class was so noisy that I couldn't hear him, but I watched his lips carefully and figured out he was asking, "Any problem?"

I panicked, trying to come up with a decent answer, but my brain short-circuited. Ugh! This was so embarrassing—I'd been caught staring like a total creep! Thankfully, the universe decided to cut me some slack, and the teacher walked in at just the right moment.

"The teacher's here," I mouthed back with a wide, nervous grin. We all stood up and wished her good morning in our usual melodious chorus.

"Today, we have a new student!" she announced with a big smile. "His name is Min Yoongi. Everyone, please welcome him."

I studied the boy as he stood there, from head to toe. He was shorter than Jungkook, with skin pale as porcelain and raven-black hair that almost covered his eyebrows. His eyes weren't as big as Jungkook's, but they were sharp, giving him a kind of mysterious vibe. He was handsome, yet somehow cute... maybe? Honestly, I couldn't quite figure out how to describe him. He looked serious, but also innocent and nerdy at the same time—like he was caught between being soft and intimidating. An enigma.

Anyway, I wasn't particularly interested in him. Our school got new students all the time—like last year when a kid joined just a month before the finals. I was already losing interest, yawning, when suddenly the teacher called my name.

"Y/N? You have an empty seat beside you. Let Yoongi sit there."

WHAT?! 😱
