"Catherine? You've been up there for ages!? Are you alright!" Catherine heard Anna shout. She wasn't fine, far from it. But she refused to allow the others to find out.

"Yeah, I'm fine!" She applied fake happiness to her voice and stopped it from shaking. Brushing her hair out her eyes, she bit her lip and picked up a cushion lying on her bed. She brought her knees to her chest and put the cushion in between her stomach and her legs. She rested her chin on the top edge and allowed the thoughts to flood her mind.

"I'm worried about Mum, " Mary said gingerly as if the silence wasn't to be broken.
"So are we all, " Katherine comforted her step/half-sister.
"But, I would have thought she'd have told me what's wrong, " Mary looked down.
"Well, she looks after a lot of people, she might not want everyone to know that something's got to her. My mum used to be like that,"
"Yeah, I guess..." Mary then felt selfish. She had just been complaining to Katherine about her Mum when Katherine had barely finish mourning Jane. The first time she wore coloured clothing was 4 days ago, and even now she refused to wear yellow. Yellow, the colour of celebration. "I'm sorry Kat, I shouldn't be complaining like this to you, "
"You're not complaining, you are worried about someone you love and the important thing; you told me and didn't bottle it up, "

"It's what sisters are for, half, step whatever we are, " Katherine giggled.
"Yeah, love ya!"
"Hey, it's show day one tomorrow!"
She nudged Mary "Excited?"
"Yeah, I guess, "
