"Kat, can we talk?" Catherine sat to the right of the teen, who was staring into space. She placed her hands in her lap. "Why'd you run off?"

"I did not run off,"

"Don't get defensive with me Katherine Seymour!" Catherine joked, putting sass into her voice, in a successful attempt to make Katherine laugh. It was just a small giggle, but that was better than nothing.

"Don't give me attitude Catherine Seymour," Kat mocked Catherine, who was amused by the joke.

"But seriously, I know it wasn't your grades that upset you, so what was it?" Katherine didn't respond and put her left hand across her forehead, resting her elbow on her thigh. "I want to help you - if you'll let me,"

"It's just," Katherine removed her hand from her face and looked up at Catherine."It was hard receiving the results, obviously because of the actual results, but also because, well, Anne is so proud of and gets to celebrate with Lizzie and You with Mary. Where does that leave me?"

"Oh Kitty, I'm so proud of you as well, you got amazing grades plus... of what you had...to deal with... earlier this academic year,"

"No Catherine, what we have to deal with, you love her just as much as I do," Katherine always spoke about Jane in the present tense, as if she was still with them. Catherine just presumed this was the teen's coping mechanism.

"I mean, look, you're not even out of mourning yet and you still managed to pull off those incredible grades," Catherine pointed at the girl's black outfit.

 "Thanks,"

"You can always trust me, right?" Kat leant against Catherine and nodded in response."I'm glad."

"Are you coming to the show in a few months?" Katherine said after a minute of silence.

"Of course! My daughter's a main part and my step-daughter's the lead!"

"Who else is coming?"

"Everyone, we are coming on every night! But each night, someone is going to have to stay home with May and Edward - the show is far too late for them to stay up."

"That's okay,"

"Good, I can't wait!"
