Katherine, Mary, Elizabeth, Anne and Catherine sat around the table waiting eagerly for the girls' exam results to be emailed through. 

"I just hope I pass, I didn't know we had GCSEs this year 'til Mary told me like last month,"

"You know that as long as you tried, love, I really don't mind what you get," Anne hugged her daughter.

"Mary, you're expected grade is a 7 in nearly everything and 8 in History, just reminding you," Catherine altered her postured and took a sip from a glass near her.

"I know Mum, I know,"

A silence filled the room.15:58. The results were to be out at four o'clock. Those last two minutes dragged out for hours. 

As soon as the clock ticked over, a simultaneous 'ping' shouted from the girl's phones.

"Mum, I got 7 9's and 3 8's!" Mary exclaimed joyously. Catherine got up and hugged her daughter. 

"I got 5 5's, 4 4's and a... a 6!? Where on earth did that come from?" Elizabeth was impressed by her own performance.

"Woop Woop" Anne placed both her hands in the air with her palms facing up and bounced them up and down. 

"3 9's and 3 8's and 4 6's"Katherine replied solemnly. She placed her phone on the table, got up and walked off. Everyone shocked at the teen's reaction. 

She shut the door and Catherine could hear quiet footsteps fading.

"She got brilliant grades, what's up with her?" Anne cocked an eyebrow. 

"Um, I think it's a bit more than just the grades," Catherine fiddled with her phone, holding it in different orientations.

"What could it possibly be then? She was fine before we checked the grades," Mary joined in, concerned.

"I think I know," Catherine avoided eye contact with anyone. There was a heavy pause before anyone spoke or moved.

"Well go on, spill," Anne lent forward, joining her hands together and rested them on the table.

"No, I don't know for sure what is actually upsetting her and if it is what I think it is, she might not want everyone to know. I'm not saying anymore on the matter," Catherine kept a strength in her voice.

"Okay, then who wants to celebrate tonight! Just us five!" Anne suggested, throwing her arms up in the air.

"Yes, Mum!" Elizabeth high fived Anne.

"Great Idea Anne," Mary added

"Um, yeah. I'm going to just go and speak to Kitty," Catherine tucked her chair in and left the room.
