Flashback 1 year ago

The friendship between Vivaan and Misha was growing. None of them knew, the true identity of each other.

One Saturday morning, Misha's phone pinged and it was a message from Vivaan.

Vivaan- Hey Misha, I can handover the notebooks for the children at the orphanage around 6 pm

Misha- Okay thanks, I will be at the Sahara Mall. See you then

V- great it works for me, I have to go to the mall next to it, see you

A smile appeared on Misha's face unconsciously. That day, after her work, she put on some makeup and fixed her hair. She did not know why she wanted to dress to collect some notebooks from someone but she could not help herself.

She reached the mall around 6 pm and found Vivaan waiting at a cafe.

"Hey Vivaan" she smiled at him unknowingly.

"Hey, Here let me keep these books in your car." Together they both walked to the parking lot towards Misha's car. After carefully putting the books in her car, he said "so what are your plans for tonight?"

"Nothing really will just head to my house and call it a night!" she spoke sounding low.

"Actually it is my best friend's birthday in the mall next to this one...uh... would you like to accompany me?" he sounded hesitant. He wanted to ask her this since the morning but could not get the courage.

"But how can I? I don't even know your friend, won't it be awkward?" she wanted to say yes and spend some more time with Vivaan but did not know how to.

They had met after two weeks because they were busy with their own works. In their busy schedules, they could not get time to meet at the orphanage and were now missing each other's company but could not tell it out aloud.

"Don't worry, Arsh and I have been best friends since nursery... I will introduce you to him... only if you want to join me.. also it is a Saturday night and you have nothing planned"

She agreed to him and both attended the birthday party together. After the party, Vivaan offered to walk Misha to her car as it was 11:30 pm and the area was not safe at night for a girl. While they were walking, a bike came from nowhere and was about to hit Misha but Vivaan noticed it and pulled her tightly towards him. She ended up hugging him. She raised her head to look at him and hear him saying angrily "stupid people when they don't know how to drive why do they"

He had unconsciously tightened his hold around her frame and did not let her go easily. Both were staring into each other's eyes and it felt so warm to be in that position. Misha lowered her head and that's when Vivaan realized how close they were standing.

"Sorry, I did not realize" and they parted and continued to walk towards her car.

For the next two months, they spent a lot of time together. They would meet every weekend either over coffee or over a walk at the park.

Vivaan was a workaholic and loved to talk about business statistics and economics and Misha was the same. Their shared love for economics and the orphanage brought them closer, but none knew that what they were feeling was more than friendship.

One evening at the orphanage, Misha saw Vivaan sitting at a corner bench facing the trees at the back of the village. She did not know what and why, but a force was pulling her towards him. His body posture looked was low and he looked dejected.

She quietly sat next to him on the bench and put her hand on his shoulder. "Is all ok, Vivaan?"

He saw her and smiled but that smile did not reach his eyes. "Yes, I was just..."

"Stop pretending, I know you now Vivaan, what is it, tell me" she insisted because she could not see the look of hurt on his face.

"My family has suffered a lot Misha, we lost .... we lost ... my younger brother this day four years ago, today is his barsi and I am missing him a lot" his head hung low.

Misha's body stiffened, how could this be? Today was his brother's barsi and today was also her parent's barsi. That is why she had come to the orphanage to spend some time with the kids.

"We can never forget our loved ones Vivaan, even I lost my parents, I am an orphan now even though I have uncles and aunts but none can fill the void of my parents. I know how you feel... but we need to always remember their happy moments, and do things that would make them happy. Would your brother like to see you Sad? especially while remembering him?" gently touched his tight fist.

He felt the warmth from her touch that touched him deeply. He did not know what he was feeling, he did not know why she made him feel that way and why he was looking forward to the weekend every week to meet her, he did not know why his arrogance left him every time he saw her face... he did not know why but he could not help himself and hugged her instinctively.

Both souls were missing their loved ones on this day. When two individuals are going through the same phase in their lives or the same feelings, then they connect on a level that is beyond physical and their friendship takes a new turn. When they know the true hurt of the other person then they are the only ones that can heal each other. Their pain gives rise to a new tree that is meant to bear fruits in the future.

A similar situation was happening with Misha and Vivaan. They both were sensitive at heart, they both were hurt and only they could heal each other.

** 1 month later **

Vivaan entered his office in his usually arrogant demeanour. "Good morning Sir, there is someone there to see you and he said it is urgent, he is waiting in your cabin." his secretary told him.

Vivaan opened the door to his cabin to find Mr.Roy sitting in one of the chairs. He was shocked to see Mr. Roy after three long years. Mr. Roy was a private investigator. Vivaan had hired him three years ago to investigate the death of his younger brother Varun. Three years ago Mr. Roy had told Vivaan that someone from the Sachdev family had purposely caused the accident which took the lives of their own family members (Misha's parents) and Varun (Vivaan's younger brother) and had caused his father to become paralyzed. Ever since then Vivaan had distanced himself from the Sachdev's and also tried to hurt them in their business.

That accident had made Vivaan cold and emotionless until a certain someone came into his life and her friendship had made him feel again. But he did not want to think about Misha while facing Mr.Roy while facing his past.

"Mr. Roy it is a surprise to see you here after three long years" his voice boomed in the cabin.

"Mr. Vadhera, I am sorry I could not give you the answer to your brother's death years ago.. but I never stopped looking into it and today itself I have finally put together all the evidence regarding the case and here is the file which includes the name of the person responsible" Mr.Roy held out a file towards Vivaan.

Vivaan's hands were sweating, his heartbeat was increasing. He had finally started to feel good again thanks to Misha... he had finally decided to bury the hatchet and move one but here his past had come back to haunt him, his unanswered questions again started to fuel an inner turmoil.

Reluctantly but steadily Vivaan took the file. He went to sit on his chair with the file in his hands.

"The person who did this was behind money and their target was Mr. and Mrs. Sachdev (Misha's parents), your father and brother just happened to be in the car that day and had to suffer. I am so sorry Mr.Vadhera. Mr. Roy continued "The person was none other than Mr. and Mrs. Sachdev's daughter"

Vivaan's head snapped, he was shocked. Avi's sister ? Avinash was his best friend and he loved his sister and talked highly of her. "How??...I mean she is their daughter ?" Vivaan was very shocked and was not able to absorb it.

"Money can make people do ugly things Mr.Vadhera. Even I could not believe that their own daughter did this but the truck that hit their car was rented under her name. The mechanic who was paid to tamper with their car was paid by a girl with her name... all the dots lead to her. Upon their death, she would get most of the shares of the company and that is what happened.... also the truck was driven by a girl and today I discovered a video taken from a red light camera.. the person driving the truck is their daughter. I confirmed her identity." Mr.Roy told Vivaan everything.

Vivaan had only met Avi's cousin sister when she was young, hell he did not even remember her name clearly. He opened the file and started reading, all the evidence was there but one name stood out.... his heart stopped for a second... MISHA? Why was Misha's name there? Then he remembered that Avi's cousin's name is also Misha.

For a second, his Misha from the orphanage came to his mind and he knew many people can have the same name. So he didn't bother and continued reading the file until he saw a photo that broke him to his core ... it was the photo of his Misha driving a truck ........

His eyes widened .. "this photo .. is .. is this their daughter" he asked Mr.Roy, praying that this was a mistake and this photo was fake or wrong.

But Mr.Roy's answer broke Vivaan into a million pieces ........ "YES!"
