Why I'm Eating Ice cream in the Shower
"It's over I just can't put up with you anymore Jay Walker!" Fern spat quickly, turning around to face her boyfriend, her green eyes blazing with hate. "Why did I ever start dating you!" Jay gawked at Fern shocked by her sudden burst of anger. "You can't even remember anything important! Does our time together even matter to you! DO I EVEN MATTER TO YOU!" She shrieked at the top of her lungs. He put his hands up defensively "Hey babe is something wrong? I honestly don't know what you're talking about." Jay asked, bewildered by the sudden blow up of anger. "YOU DON'T HAVE THE SLIGHTEST FREAKING CLUE DO YOU?! YOU MORON! IT'S OUR SIXTEEN MONTH ANNIVERSARY!!" Jay growled his bewilderment fading away to rage. "What do you mean "sixteen month anniversary" THAT'S NOT EVEN A THING! NO ONE CELEBRATES THAT!" "OF COURSE IT IS! WHY WOULDN'T IT BE! YOU KNOW WHAT JAY! WHATEVER!! I DON'T CARE ANYMORE! I'M DONE!! WERE DONE! IF YOU DON'T EVEN REMEMBER AN IMPORTANT DATE LIKE THAT I DON'T WANNA EVEN WANT DATE YOU ANYMORE!" Jay froze "Wait hold up Fern, you can't be serious? W-were done? Just like that? We can't be done" "YES JAY WERE DONE!! DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY IT LOUDER SO YOU CAN GET IT THROUGH YOUR DENSE SKULL!! WE! ARE! DONE!!" Fern was red in the face from shrieking at the top of her lungs. She turned around and stormed away her fiery hair matching her mood. "Wait Fern! Please don't walk away from me! We can't end like this!" Jay called desperately after her. "I love you, please don't do this to me. I can make it up to you. Please Fern. Please" Jay's hazel eyes held tears as he stared at his feet. He could feel his heart break and shatter as he watched the girl he loved walk out of his life forever. Jay replayed the memory in his head over and over and over. "Fern!" he sobbed, taking another spoon full of chocolate ice cream and shoving it in his mouth. A soft knock interrupted Jay's wailing. "Hey Jay you in their? It's been days since I've seen you. Your roommate told me what happened. How are you holding up?" the college boy asked his voice showing his worry "Go away Grayson Rivers! I'm not here!" ice cream dribbling from his mouth. "I can clearly hear you. Open the door please." His voice soft "I'm coming in Jay." Grayson softly pushed the door open to see a small bathroom with light blue walls. His gaze fell on Jay sitting in the shower with a gallon of chocolate ice cream sitting on his lap. Poor Jay, he looks so pathetic and sad. He thought crouching next to the shaking, sobbing boy. "Do you wanna talk about it?" Jay looked up his lip quivering "She left me Grayson. I loved her so much and she left me, I thought we were happy. I thought she was happy. What'd I do wrong?" Jay's brown hair draped over his sad eyes as he continued to cry and whimper "Grayson, I didn't remember our sixteen month anniversary. WHY DIDN'T I REMEMBER?" "Your what? Sixteen month anniversary? Dude that's not a thing." "Well apparently it is or I wouldn't be single now would I?" "Yeah, She didn't deserve you" Grayson whispered while watching as his friend ate more ice cream. "Ok let's put the ice cream away Jay. You're getting it everywhere." "No this is the only thing that brings me happiness anymore!" He argued clutching the tub tighter. "Come on dude let go of it." Grayson calmly commanded gently, taking it out of his friend's arms. Jay hung his head in defeat. "Just another thing I love taken from me. WILL MY SUFFERING EVER END!!" he wailed hopelessly. Grayson placed his hand on Jay's shoulder "I'll be right back, don't fall apart while I'm gone" "Whatever" "Hey Rabbit, can you come help me cheer up Jay? As you know he just got dumped and could use his favorite roommate, please." Grayson asked, waking up a dark skinned teen with white patches and around his body. Rabbit slowly stirring, "Come on Rabbit get up" Grayson sighed kicking the couch. Rabbit lifted his head to meet Grayson's stare with red, clouded, tired eyes. "Mom I was sleeping" he groaned running a hand through his messy dyed white hair. "Don't call me mom." "Sorry is daddy more appropriate?" Rabbit teased trying to look hot. "Wow you're annoying today" Grayson scoffed rolling his eyes "And your roommate just had an emotional breakdown over ice cream. I think this is more important than your afternoon nap." Grayson argued flatly. "You're his best friend. Shouldn't you know what to do." Rabbit retorted "Rabbit, He had. An Emotional Break down. Over Ice cream. Now do you want to challenge me? I will drag you in there by your hoodie if I have to!" "You know you're lucky I'm nice and a genius so I'll help and I have a plan." He assured thought igniting his eyes "I'll be in the bathroom in four minutes. You should probably go check on Robert Downey junior in there. Get it cause he's like bringing the mood down?" "Just go" He's such an idiot. Grayson sighed walking back to the bathroom. Jay was still in the shower stareing to space muttering Fern's names and apologizing. I really hope Rabbit's plan works. I don't know how much longer he can hold up like this. He's like an empty shell of a human. Yikes! Grayson got in the tub and sat down in front of Jay, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him into a tight hug, Jay clutched onto Grayson's shirt in response. "It's going to be ok Jay. this isn't the end of you. Just keep pulling through, ok? If you can't do it for yourself, do it for me and Rabbit." The only response he got was a sniff as he felt tears fall on his shirt. The door creaked, Rabbit peaked his head into the bathroom. "Hey Jay bird I've come to cheer you up." he purred, sliding into the bathroom a guitar in hand. "What exactly is your plan Rabbit?" Grayson muttered, shooting him warning glare. "Just trust me I'm gonna play his favorite song." He winked and smiled. I swear if he makes Jay worse I will physically fight him. Rabbit began to strum his guitar playing a familiar tune. "What would you think if I sang out of tune, would you stand up and walk out on me?" Rabbit's voice was sweet like nectar. Jay let go of Grayson's shirt relaxing a bit. "Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song and I'll try not to sing out of key." Grayson sang gently grabbing Jay's cheek and whipping away Jay's tears with the sleeve of his shirt "Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends mm, I get high with a little help from my friends mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends" Grayson and Rabbit both sang. "What do I do when my love is away, does it worry you to be alone?" Rabbit cheerily continued watching Jay slightly sway to the song.
"How do I feel by the end of the day, are you sad because you're on your own?" Grayson was ecstatic as Jay's sadness melted away bit by bit. Rabbit stopped strumming at the guitar staring expectedly at Jay. "Come on Jay you know the next line." "Yeah, join us we can't sing it without you." Grayson encouraged "No, I get by with a little help from my friends" He sang weakly, his voice cracking. His friends both cheered. "I get high with a little help from my friends, gonna try with a little help from my friends" They all sang their voices coming together, the song echoing off the bathroom wall. "Do you need anybody I just need someone to love" Rabbit watched as Jay's old self came back "Could it be anybody I want somebody to love?" "Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends with a little help from my friends." Jay finished. For a small moment the clouds that filled Jay's heart had cleared, his heart wasn't healed, he didn't cry his last tears for the girl he lost, but for today just this moment Jay could be happy. Happy sitting in the bathroom with his two closest friends singing his favorite song.
