Chapter 48- Losing
"That's cute." Sans says with a smirk as he snuggles himself into the sheets, making it more comfortable to sleep.
He closed his eyes, a small smile on his face. It wasn't long before he fell asleep peacefully, his chest rising up and down slowly.
You sigh heavily, waiting for your thoughts to stop racing. Your consciousness ebbed, swirling into a pit of darkness before slipping into a world of chaotic dreams.
-------------------------------------------------
"Fuck!"
You woke up to the sound of a thud and Sans' voice coming from the end of the bed.
"Sans, what are you doing?" You mumble as you rub your eyes.
"Shit. I wasn't supposed to wake you. Go back to sleep Y/N, I hit my toe on the piano stool." Sans whispers sheepishly.
You sit up fully with your eyes open to see that Sans was rubbing his foot, trying to get rid of the pain that he had just inflicted upon himself.
"Where you off?" You ask curiously, watching Sans pull on his leather jacket.
"Frisk is in trouble." He says bluntly.
He already had one of his shoes on and it seemed he was searching for the other.
"What? Can I help?" You say as you start to peel the covers off your body.
Sans hesitates for a moment.
"I dunno, I don't want you getting hurt. I don't know what Frisk has gotten himself into this time." He says as he rubs the back of his neck.
"I'm not going to get hurt, I have my own powers to protect myself." You cross your arms and look away from Sans.
"Fine, just-"
"Lemme get my shoes."
You interrupt Sans and rush out the room before he could say another word.
Your eyes scan for your pair of boots. Once you find them, you grab them and pull them onto your feet.
You walk into the bedroom to find Sans pacing up and down, his breathing unsteady and his jaw clenched.
"Sans?" You call out quietly, afraid you might set him off.
"Just wrap your arms around me." He says sternly.
You do as you told, wrapping your arms around Sans. In seconds, the warm room you were once in changes into a freezing cold blizzard.
Sans lets go of you almost immediately after you hit the ground.
The snow flakes had created a whirlwind of white, making it very difficult to see anything beyond ten centimetres from where you were both standing. Also, it was pitch black from how late it was so it didn't really help your situation.
Sans lets out a shaky breath as his eyes started darting more wildly with each passing second.
"FRISK!" He calls out, a scream almost.
You could tell he was panicking.
"Whoa, Sans. What's happening? Are you okay?" You say to Sans and grab his hand in hope he'd calm down.
"I don't know, but Frisk is here somewhere. He's in danger, I know it." Sans eyes keep searching for anything other than white as he pulled you along running.
The cold air licked your face and crept under you clothes, spreading all over your skin. You teeth gently chattered and you slightly regretted not wearing something more suitable.
It was no use.
You'd never find Frisk in this weather.
"SANS!"
Frisks ear piercing scream shrilled through the night air, startling both you and Sans.
Sans instantly follows where the voice came from and soon after, you both see Frisk on the floor.
He was breathing heavily, quiet sobs spilling out his mouth.
"Frisk, I'm sorry. Please don't do anything you'll regret later."
Was Sans, begging?
Frisk breathed heavily, his lips trembling with every breath.
"My name is not Frisk, Sans." He spits coldly.
Sans looks confused as he takes a step closer to Frisk's fragile body.
"What do you-"
"It's Chara."
Frisk gets up from the floor and faces both of you however, he no longer looked like himself. His eyes were a crimson red with rosy cheeks and his skin was much, much paler.
The look on Sans' face was pure horror.
They close their eyes and create a room of darkness, black.
There was one light source in the room.
The RESET button.
"I have a deal to propose." They say, their hand hovering millimetres away from the button, a malicious smile on their face.
"You wouldn't." Sans whispers, his voice cracking.
"I am, and for one purpose only. How about I tell you a story?" They say, taking their cold hands away from the button before clasping them together.
You both remained silent, afraid to speak in the presence of the spirit that had just possessed Frisks body.
"I woke up, confused. Our plan had failed, hadn't it? We didn't get the souls like planned. However, I was stuck with this human, walking around the place and killing monsters.
I thought he was doing it for a reason so I watched and learnt.
I watched him kill my mother, I learnt to become cold towards kind people.
I watched him kill all monsters, I learnt to hurt those around me for no reason.
So I helped out, killed Sans. Killed my dad. There was a reason towards all this, right?
Then it came to killing Flowey, I didn't want to. There was still a chance Frisk would reset and stop all of this.
But I watched him kill my bestfriend, I learnt to be a ruthless killer.
When I ask him to erase the world with me, he didn't want to. He didn't want to move onto the next. He said he only killed out of curiously.
I was furious.
I felt betrayed.
I thought there was a reason for his killing, a reason behind me killing.
I asked for his soul in return for a reset, and he gave me what I asked. I came back for him in the next timeline to show him a lesson.
To kill him.
I wanted him to see what it felt like to be stabbed with that knife of his.
Then, you happened."
They point their finger at you, their face clearing angry.
"My reason for this reset is you. Why did you mess up my plans? Everything was going fine until you and your pathetic attitude can along. You reset even thought your boyfriend asked you not and look at him now.
You. Broke. Him."
They stare right through you and your body shivers unpleasantly.
"I-"
"Don't speak, you worthless piece of shit." They spit at you.
You could feel yourself becoming rather angry.
Sans on the other hand...
"Chara, please. Is there anything I can do? I'll do anything." He begs, salty tears dripping from his chin.
Chara looks to Sans with a happy smile.
"I want her soul."
Sans' eyes widen in shock.
"And in return, I'll make sure that you and her will be together in the next timeline." They finish, a proud look on their face.
They knew they had Sans right where they wanted him.
"But she's not a Boss Monster, you can't take her's-"
"I can, actually. She's a Boss Monster if you weren't aware."
"That doesn't make sense-"
"Shut up, it does to me. I can prove it to you." Chara snaps defensively.
They face you with a sweet smile.
"I will only take your soul if you agree. So what will it be?"
Sans runs up to you and sobs into your chest, his bony hands clutching your shirt. His tears soaked the fabric of your clothing and you could hear his cry was so raw, like the pain was an open wound that was killing him slowly.
He looks up at you, his face tear stained, and he refused to look away.
"Please, give up your soul. I w-want to see you again. We'll be together again, I promise."
A warm tear slid down your face, then another, and another.
"Okay Sans." You whisper to him, cupping his cheeks and rubbing away his salty tears.
"You'd do that for me? You barely even remember me." Sans looks to the floor, not knowing what to feel.
You use your hands to make him look up at you.
"I've loved spending time with you these past couple of days and I'd do anything to live them again. I have that chance to do that here." You says with a wide smile hoping to cheer Sans up.
"Well then, it's settled. Get out the way you idiot." Chara says before harshly pushing Sans away from you.
His body falls to the floor with a crunch.
"You really are both fools." Chara says with a murderous look as they takes their diver knife and plunge it into your chest at full force.
"Y/N, NO!"
The world turned into a blur as the sound of Chara's I'll natured laugh in the background soon disappeared.
All the sounds were gone, the taste, the smell. Everything was gone.
It all darkened into nothingness and you could feel yourself slowly losing your body.
Losing everything.
