Chapter 30- Asgore's Decision
Trigger Warning: Mention of suicide
I knock quietly on Papys door. The sound echoes through the dark corridor, scaring Frisk slightly.
"Hey, don't be afraid." I whisper to Frisk.
He becomes less tense at the sound of my voice and he reaches out for my hand.
I'm surprised by his gesture, but I take his hand anyway and open the door to my brothers bedroom.
"Brother, wake up." I whisper as I shake Papy lightly with my free hand.
He mumbles something incomprehensible, then he opens his eyes.
"What's happened brother, is everything okay?" He mutters as he rubs his face with one of his hands.
"I have a hum-"
"WOWEE A HUMAN! UNDYNE WILL BE PLEASED!" There as literally stars in his eyes as he stands up on his bed.
"No Papy. This human is important, we need him." I say to him sternly. He sits himself down and gives me a confused look.
"WHATS MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR FREEDOM?" Papy questions.
"Please Papy? Can we keep him?" I plead. Frisks grip on my hand becomes tighter and I can feel him tense up again.
"BECAUSE YOU ARE MY BROTHER, I W-WILL LET HIM STAY...BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT THE KING WILL SAY." Papy says as he scratches the back of his skull.
"You have a point." I whisper. "Don't worry Frisk, I won't let you die." I say as I look over to Frisk.
His face is still red, and I'm not sure why, but he manages a shaky smile in appreciation.
"You can sleep in my bed tonight." I say as we walk out of Papys room.
"GOOD NIGHT SANS! GOOD NIGHT HUMAN!" Papy calls out from his bed.
"Night Papy!" I shout back as I open the door to my bedroom.
Thank god it wasn't messy.
"I can give you something to wear if you want." I say to Frisk as I flip the light switch on.
He stands next to my bookcases, and rubs his arm awkwardly.
"Y-yeah please." He mutters.
I chuckle lightly and I can see that the red on Frisks face is actually him blushing.
He's blushing?
What do I do? Oh my god, this is weird. Why do I feel weird? Do I do something? Why is he blushing?
Quickly I look for something that he can wear and I hand it over to him.
"Haha, clothes." I say stupidly.
What the hell Sans?
"Ignore me..." I mumble as I scratch my neck awkwardly.
There's an uncomfortable silence in the room, and I don't think I can take it for much longer.
"Do you mind if I, erm, get dressed?" Frisk asks quietly, breaking the silence.
"Oh yeah, go ahead." I say as I sit down at my desk.
That sounded pervy.
He pulls off his sweater, revealing his toned abs. I turn around on my swivel chair, and look for something to do on my computer whilst he gets dressed.
"I-I'm done." Frisk says, and I turn around to see that he's in the black sweatpants and white t-shirt that I gave him.
"You can get into bed then." I say as I turn off my computer. Frisk peels the duvet off and then lays himself down on my mattress.
I make sure that he's comfortable before switching off the light.
"C-can you stay with me?" He whispers quietly just as I'm about to close the door.
"Um, okay." I say shrugging.
Maybe he's afraid of the dark in this timeline...
I walk over to my drawers and grab something to sleep in, then get dressed.
The entire time I can feel Frisk looking at me. I shrug it off. Maybe he's never seen a skeleton before.
I go under the covers and close my eyes when Frisk starts talking.
"Why do you want to save me?" He asks timidly.
I open my eyes and answer his question without thinking.
"I need you." I blurt out, realising that it probably sounds really bad.
"W-what?" Frisk's voice drips with disbelief and shock.
"I-I mean, there's a girl and I need you to be alive so that I have a chance of seeing her again." I quickly correct myself, hoping that I haven't made him feel uncomfortable.
"Oh." Frisk voice sounds disappointed for some reason. "What's her name?"
"Y/N."
"That's a nice name."
"Yeah, it is." I can feel myself smile at the thought of Y/N.

My happy mood immediately changes, and I can feel myself becoming slightly angry.
"What she like?" Frisk asks, intrigued by her.
"Why do you care?" I snap.
"I-I-"
"No one cares." I spit spitefully as I turn my body so I'm no longer facing Frisk.
Frisk goes completely silent and I take a deep breath in.
"I'm sorry." I whisper to Frisk as I turn back around to face him.
He looks slightly scared, but then he calms down.
"It's okay, I'm used to being shouted at.." He mutters.
A pain of guilt hits me, and I feel bad for snapping at him.
"Frisk, why are you here?" I ask quietly.
"I'm not loved on the surface, so I wanted to end my life by jumping off the mountain." He whispers sadly.
'I'm not loved', what does that mean?
I pull him closer to me and hug him. Once again, he stiffens but then wraps his arms around me.
We fall asleep like that, hugging each other for no apparent reason, and I slowly slip into the land of dreams, not knowing whether that was a good thing or not.
-------------------------------------------------
"I'M SURE THE KING WILL LET YOU STAY, DO NOT FRET HUMAN!" Papyrus reassures Frisk as we all make our way out the front door.
Frisk was still looking rather tried, but we had to leave early so that the other monsters wouldn't see him.
"I hope so..." He mutters as he cuddles deeper into the black hoodie that I gave him.
When I had told Frisk this morning that we were going to see Asgore, he said that he didn't want to go because Asgore would kill him.
I asked him how he knew, but he just shook his head and didn't want to say anything.
Y/N didn't say a lot about the ruins and her life behind the door, although I didn't really ask.
I had decided to shrug off, yet again, another thing.
It was a rather chilly morning as we walked down to the river.
We took the boat and had an interesting conversation with the river person. I watched as Frisks face lit up with excitement as we passed the waterfall.
As we enter the Hotlands, Frisk became quite warm and he took off my black hoodie, leaving him in his purple sweater.
He handed it over to Papy, and he held it with him for the rest of the journey.
We all jump off the boat, and Papy says thank you to the river person, then we make our way to the lift.
"What floor?" Frisk asks as he looks at all the buttons.
"Top." I say, and a slight tint of red shows up on his face.
There's the faint click of the button and I can feel the elevator moving up.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE WE'RE GONNA SEE THE KING AGAIN!" Papy exclaims excitedly.
The doors automatically open as we reach the top floor and we make our way into the MTT resort. We're met again with, yet, another elevator as we walk in.
We eventually reach Asgore's place, and knock on his front door.
"Frisk, stay behind me." I whisper and Frisk does as he's told.
The door swings open and we're met with Asgore's happy face.
"Ahh! Sans and Papyrus, what brings you two here? You haven't seen me since you got out of the lab." He says happily.
I had told Asgore that my father fell in his own experiment and that we didn't have a place to stay anymore. I couldn't tell him what actually happened to us in there.
My father threatened to kill him if I told him the truth about the timelines.
He believed us that day, and gave us the house we have now.
"WE HAVE A HUMAN!" Papy practically shouts out.
Asgore's body tenses, and the air becomes thick.
"What?" He says wide eyed, his happy attitude disappearing.
"But we need him! It's important, trust me." I say quickly, not wanting Asgore to do something to Frisk.
He was unaware that Frisk was behind me, and I could feel Frisk holding onto my leather jacket tightly.
"We all need this human, we need our freedom. What's more important than that?" He questions as he gets closer to me.
"Can I have a word? Please?" I ask, hoping that he hasn't noticed Frisk yet.
"Please do come in." He says as he gestures for me to go inside. "Oh, and the human as well." He adds.
So much for that.
I chuckle awkwardly as I walk in, Frisk right behind me making sure not to make eye contact with the person who wanted to kill him.
Papy waits outside and wishes us good luck, then the door closes shut meaning that I have to come up with something.
Fast.
"So?" Asgore raises an eyebrow as he puts both hands on his hips. I can tell he just wants to get this done and over with.
The entrance to his house was dull, shades of gray plastered onto the walls, the wooden floors slightly chipped.
"My dad needs him for an experiment." I blurt out.
"But your fathers dead, how does he need him? What experiment? The only job I have your dad was to find a way out of here." Asgore starts to bombard me with questions.
"I-I'm gonna continue his work, so I need a human to study on." I lie straight through my teeth, hoping that Asgore's bought what I said.
I look down at Frisk, and he looks terrified. Frisk just grips on my jacket tighter, and I'm scared he might just about break the fabric.
Asgore bites his lip as he goes into deep thought. He looks at me, then Frisk before sighing heavily.
"Let me sleep on it." He finally says.
I wasn't expecting that.
My body feels somewhat less tense, knowing that Frisk might still live.
"So, can we go back?" I ask as I awkwardly shift closer to the door.
He nods and says, "Come back tomorrow, and I'll tell you what my decision is."
We walk out feeling slightly disappointed, but I'm hoping that Frisk can live for Y/N's sake.
"IM GUESSING IT DIDN'T GO TOO WELL BY THE LOOK ON YOUR FACES." Papy says when he sees us.
"Don't worry Papy, I'm sure it will be okay in the end." I put a hand on my brothers shoulder, doing my best to reassure him.
"Sans? Are you really gonna experiment on me?" Frisk whimpers, making me whip my head in his direction.
Papy gives us both a confused look.
"My father is dead, and I would never want to continue his work. Frisk, I would never hurt you." I tell Frisk with a serious look on my face.
A small smile appears on his face.

We continue walking back to the boat and I quickly pull out another cigarette to block out my dad.
"What was your dad like?" Frisk asks while the elevator goes down to the MTT resort.
"A dick-bag." I scowl. Frisk seems to get the idea that I don't wanna talk about it, so he keeps his mouth shut as we walk out the elevator.
It's still pretty early, so not many monsters are around. Papy hands Frisk my black hoodie, and I tell him to put it on so that other monsters can't see him.
We eventually get back to the house, leaving us all pretty tired from getting up so early.
"Wanna head back up to bed?"
A/N: so the story is coming to an end sadly...
There's about 10 chapters left for me to write and I was wondering if you guys wanted something at the end...
Like a author Q&A or a character ask? Or maybe both, or other suggestions. I open to anything! (Well, Mostly everything)
