Your POV
I sat in my bed reading one of my favorite books. It was one of those books where the girl gets the guy and they live happily ever after. Too bad that life will never happen for me.
You see I was one of the girls who was never noticed, being 5'1 and a half (if you're tall just just pretend you're 5'1 and a half) didn't help much. I was shy, never really put myself out there. I had talent, of course, but I never showed it to anyone. Happy endings weren't real, with every relationship I've had it ended in hell.
I finally pulled my eyes away from my book to look at the time. '1:57 am, lovely' I thought and went back to my book. I formed a scenario in my mind of me being the girl in the book and finding my prince. Of course it would have to be Jonah Marais.
He lived a few houses down from where I lived in Beverly Hills. He had a few roommates that I was friends with. Eben mostly and occasionally I would talk to Corbyn and his brother, Jordan. Jonah knew who I was, because we would go walking at the park together sometimes during the day when he wasn't off touring some foreign country with his band.
My crush on him hadn't started up until a few weeks after I'd met him. Some of you would probably fall for his looks and yes I'd be right there with you, but the reason why I fell for him was a lot more meaningful in my mind. I was at the park, the sky was a cloudless blue and the fall weather had decided to set in, which just consisted of a slight breeze here and there. I was walking the trail through the park when I saw him.
He was with a child of about five and in his lap was a puppy. I didn't know if it was Jonah's or not, but the look on his face when he looked between the child and the puppy was just filled with pure happiness and that's when I fell, hard. I couldn't help but stare at the look on Jonah's face. He just looked so happy which caused a smile to form on my face, unconsciously.
He looked up at me and waved with his hand that wasn't petting the puppy. I lowered my smile to be a small one and waved back. After a few more seconds of silence I started walking again, but my mind still had the image of the Jonah I had just witnessed.
I got to the end of the page and realized that I wasn't focused on the book at all. I sighed, rolled my eyes and started the page over again. I hadn't gotten past the first paragraph, when I heard a knocking at my door. I got up off of my bed and made my way to the door. I opened it and, with confusion, looked around the hall. No one was there.
I walked back inside my room and closed the door, still confused. I heard the knocking again, but this time from my window. I hesitated to pull back the curtain that hid my view from whatever was on the other side. I slowly walked closer and carefully pulled back the curtain. What I saw confused me even more.
"Jonah?" I asked through my now open window. He just smiled, showing his pearly white teeth.
"Hi," He replied. I shook my head with a smile.
"What are you doing here, this late especially?" I asked again. He crawled into my room, careful not to wake anyone. He stepped over to my bed and turned to look at me.
"I couldn't sleep and knew you'd be awake," He answered. I opened my mouth to say something, but didn't know what to say so I turned my head to my right and smiled.
"So you decided to come bother me, great thank you," I said with a smile and looking into his eyes.
"Yeah I did, if that's ok with you," He said as he stepped closer to me, I shook my head, with a smile still on my face.
"Only if we get ice cream," I told him. He just looked down and chuckled.
"Of course," And with that he crawled out my window with me following after. He held out his hand for me as I crawled out the window and I took it. We carefully scaled down the roof of the house, luckily there was a ladder that my dad forgot to take down after he'd finished putting on the new gutter. Jonah went down first and held the ladder for me as I stepped down.
Once on the ground we walked all the way to this local ice cream parlor that I found a few weeks ago, which was about a half a mile away. On the way we talked about the most random things. I didn't ask him about his tours or any band things, we just talked about what we liked and our childhood traditions. In that moment he wasn't a famous singer and I wasn't the girl who hid in the background. We were just...us.
Once at the parlor we ordered our ice cream, Jonah paying for both of ours. I appreciated it and gladly talked with him, while waiting for our ice cream. Once she called Jonah's name he handed me my ice cream and we headed outside. We walked for awhile and ended up in the park. We found a trash bin and threw our empty bowls and spoons away.
We found a nice hill and decided to lie down. I immediately pointed out the constellation Gemini, while he admitted to not recognizing any constellations. I just chuckled in response.
I laughed at some stupid joke that Jonah said and he laughed as well. Without realizing that I noticed, Jonah had slipped his hand into mine. As I calmed down I noticed Jonah looking at me.
"What?" I asked. He just smiled.
"You are more beautiful than the stars we lay under," He told me and I immediately started blushing. I looked down and smiled.
"Thank you," I responded. I looked back up at him and gently kissed his cheek.
"I've always wanted this fairytale life, but I thought that they never existed, but," I paused and looked into Jonah's eyes, "being with you tonight made me realize that...Jonah, you are my prince and this is our story to tell." He just smiled and pulled me into a hug. He let me go and we turned back to the stars.
I didn't know how long we'd been talking after that, but I never wanted it to end. Unfortunately the tiredness caught up to me and I fell asleep while looking at the stars, hand in hand with Jonah Marais.
I finally had my fairy tale, and there was no way I was letting it go.
