Your POV

Karen walks up to me as I'm holding Samson, the baby bulldog.

"(Y/N) today we have some volunteers so I want you to show them what to do and how to take care of the animals, ok?" I nodded.

"Yes ma'am" I continued washing Samson, carefully, since he was still about 4 months old. I walked over to Arrow, in her stable, and saw her sitting down.

"Arrow, you know you're not supposed to sit down. You could re-break you back leg" I walked over to the mare and helped her up.

"Ok now let's see if you damaged anything" I lifted up her hoof and saw everything in place. I scanned her leg and saw that no harm was done.

"Ok everything seems to be alright" I said standing up.

Jonah's POV

I walked into the shelter behind Tyler, who was leading the way. We walked up to the front desk and saw an older woman sitting there. Already in the front of the building, I could hear a lot of animals making noises.

"Hi, welcome. How may I help you?" the older lady spoke.

"You're Karen?" She nodded.

"We spoke on the phone" she perked up at that.

"Oh you must be Tyler, well it's nice to meet you" she stuck her hand out and shook his.

"And this must be your volunteer group" she assumed. He turned to look at us.

"Yes, this is Eben, Zach, Jack, Corbyn, Zack, Daniel, and Jonah" he named us going down the line.

"Ok well follow me" she stood up and walked through a door where all the noises were coming from.

"(Y/N) is going to be your guide today. She is going to teach you what you need to know about the animals and how to take care of them and as you've probably read on our ad in the newspaper or wherever you get your news, we do not kill our animals. They normally die by natural causes and diseases, but even then we try our best to save them" she continued talking, but I saw a small kitten in a cage with it's sleeping mother.

"Hey little guy" I stuck my finger inside the cage and it started licking my finger.

"I'm gonna call you Gus. Do you like that name, Gus?" He just continued licking my finger. I laughed and heard Daniel call my name. I stood up and walked over to the group. We started walking up to a horse stall with a big horse inside. Next to the horse was a smaller girl. She looked up and my breath hitched in my throat. She was absolutely beautiful.

"(Y/N) here are our volunteers" the gorgeous girl looked over at us and I noticed that she had (Y/E/C) eyes. She smiled and scanned over each one of us, but stopping on me. I blushed as she looked me up and down, now very nervous. She stepped out of the stall and wiped her hands onto her pants.

"Now (Y/N) I want you to show them how to take care of the animals and when to pay attention to a certain animal" (Y/N) nodded and Karen walked away.

"So are you guys ready?" Wow even her voice sounds beautiful.

"Ok so I was actually checking on Arrow, our mare, to see if she had any cuts or bruises. And actually she's not supposed to lie down because she had got hit by a car a few months back and broke her leg, so we don't want her to lie down just in case she might break it again" I listened intently to what she was saying, not even noticing that Corbyn was tapping my shoulder. She started walking towards me and my heart started to beat faster.

"So when it's time to feed an animal, you come to this building behind you and there's all of the animals food" she walked past me and inside the building with us closely behind her and showed us where a certain animal's food was. She pointed out the kitten feed and I immediately wanted to go feed Gus.

"Any questions?" She asked. We all stayed silent.

"Yes?" She questioned. I turned my head and saw Zach raising his hand.

"Oh no" I whispered underneath my breath. (Y/N) gave me a confused look.

"Can we ride the pigs? Zach asked. (Y/N) laughed.

"Yeah let's save that for the last thing" she smiled and winked at him. I clenched my teeth out of jealousy and looked down. I turned to leave and took a deep breath, trying to calm down. Once everyone was out, she called for our attention.

"Ok so I actually have something to take care of, so you guys can just go walk around and check out the rest of the animals" she said, then walked off. I unconsciously walked over to Gus' cage. I bent down and watched him sleep with his momma, thinking for around ten minutes.

"I don't know why I feel this way when I just met her. Like whenever I first saw her, she took my breath away. When she was walking towards me, my heart beat a mile a minute. I don't know what's wrong with me" I said to the unconscious kitten.

"It's called love at first sight" I turned and saw her standing there. She walked closer and knelt down next to me.

"I don't know if you believe in it, but that's what it was" I just stared at her. She glanced at me and chuckled.

"I believe in it" she continued.

"Why?" I asked, curiously. She looked at me.

"Because if I didn't, I wouldn't be crouching next to a love sick boy" she smiled at me.

"Love sick? I don't th-"

"You were talking to an unconscious cat" I hung my head and laughed.

"I guess you're right" we sat in a beautiful silence, just watching the kitten and his mom.

"I know why you left" she whispered. I looked at her.

"You thought that I was flirting with your friend" she continued looking into the cage. I looked down, embarrassed.

"If I'm being honest, he's not really what I'm looking for" my head jerked up at what she said.

"Really?" I asked, hopeful. She nodded. I finally gathered the courage to do what I needed to ever since I saw her.

"Would you go on a date with me?" I asked. She smiled.

"(Y/N) I need you" Eben shouted from somewhere down the hall. She laughed and carefully stood up, me following after her. She leaned up and gently pressed her soft lips to my cheek.

"Gladly" she said before walking over to help Eben.
