12 - "That's Real Attractive, I Can See Why All The Girls Like You Now."
Jay's POV -
So, it's Rachel's birthday today and there are two things which have been planned for her - the surprise which Max has planned for her with the help of the others, and then there is the surprise which I have planned for her.
The others have no idea about what I'm doing for her, they all just think I'm taking her out for the day to keep her away while Max gets everything ready for tonight; it's probably going to be a messy night and everyone is going to have a lot of fun.
Today was the day that I was re-creating our first date for Rachel in the hope that she may remember something about how we used to be. And, as I've been told to do by Max, I've got to take her shopping and but her something nice for tonight.
But, also under orders from Max, to make it less obvious what's happening, I've got to buy her some other things as well so that she doesn't ask any questions. Although, with Lille that may be difficult because she likes to know everything and has a question for each answer you provide her with.
I knocked on the door of the George household and waited for an answer from one of the people I could hear shouting at each other. It sound like Max and Lille were arguing with each other again, which had been happening a lot lately, even when we tried to stop them and make them see that it was getting completely out of hand.
This is how everything was going before the accident happened - Lille was only drunk then because she wanted to prove a point to Max and she really wanted to get on his nerves more than she had done; of course, when alcohol is involved, it's never good. But now, Max blames himself for everything that happened.
Even though they're both as bad as each other if you ask me.
"Oh, Jay, come in. And why are you always being like this now?" Max shouted as he walked into the living room.
"I'm not being like anything, why do you have to treat me like crap, even on my birthday?" Lille snapped back angrily.
"Because I'm tired of everything now. For the past week now, you haven't bothered talking to me and you hardly want to see me. How is that fair?" Max replied.
"Your just jealous, like you always are and, if that doesn't change, then you're going to lose me forever." Lille shouted.
"This is all Jay's fault anyway. If you weren't spending as much time with him, then this never would have happened."
"Excuse me, don't bring me into this. I haven't done anything wrong." I said, suddenly listening to what was being said as soon as I heard my name being mentioned, and not in a good way either.
"Would you rather that me and Jay were arguing all the time then and causing trouble for the band?" Lille replied.
"That's not what I mean and you know it's not. But-"
"Look, it was your idea for me to go out with Jay today, so don't even say anything." Lille sighed as she walked past her brother and over to the front door, checking her pockets for what I can only assume was her phone and keys, which she must have had because she looked at me with a smile on her face. "You ready then?"
"Fine. I'll see you at seven then. I'll have your present for you then." Max replied, walking back into the room and throwing himself down on the sofa - I hoped that tonight was enough for Lille to forgive her brother and for them to be civil with each other, just for one night.
"So, where are you taking me then?" Lille grinned as we walked out of the door.
"You'll just have to wait and see, it's a surprise." I chuckled, taking hold of Lille's hand and wrapping my fingers between hers as we walked down the road with each other.
"Jay, you know I hate surprises." Lille complained, I knew that she hated surprises, but I also knew she was going to love this one and it was going to be a good day; I had to make it good after I walked in on what seemed like one hell of an argument between the two of them.
"You'll love this one, just wait and see. But, before I surprise you, I've got to take you shopping." I smiled.
"What? You know I hate shopping more than I hate surprises, can't we do something else?" Lille moaned again, rolling her eyes at me at the same time as she forced me to stop and look at her.
"Sorry. Orders from Max George himself. I have to take you shopping and make sure you buy something nice." I laughed, pulling Lille along the road with me.
I know people think it's strange how me and Lille have gone from hating each other and constantly arguing with one and another to suddenly being best friends again, but I never hated her and never wanted to fall out with her in the first place; I just wasn't allowed to tell her the truth and that made it difficult.
I guess, when I got the chance to make things right between us and the opportunity to go back to the way we were before, I just jumped at it and wasn't going to argue with her when she tried to be nice to me.
You never really stop being best friends with someone though, no matter what happens. You could hate each other more than anything and not even speak properly for several years but, at the end of the day, you always sort things out in the end and can pick up where you left off, like the last time you saw each other was yesterday.
That's the beauty of having a true best friend.
"Eurgh. I hate you Jay McGuiness, like, really hate you." Lille said, trying her best not to smirk at me.
"I love you too Lille George." I chuckled giving her a quick kiss.
"Smile McGuiness." Lille laughed as she moved her phone up to take a picture of me and her, but I didn't feel like smiling, so I just pulled a funny face instead just as she took the picture; I ruined a perfectly good photo just because I felt like it. "That's real attractive, I can see why all the girls like you now."
"Yet you're the one that ended up stuck with me." I replied, wrapping my arms around her waist and resting my chin on her shoulder, still grinning like a total idiot and the day hadn't even got properly started just yet.
"Meh. Nothing great about being Jay McGuiness' best friend." she smirked, logging onto Twitter and posting the picture that she had just taken of me and her for all her followers to see when they logged on, just to stalk her and see what she was doing and if she was with any of the boys.
"You know, I think we should delay the shopping for a bit, and just go to the park." I smiled, taking hold of her hand again and walking down the street with her once more, heading straight towards the park and way from all the noise of the town.
"Why, what's at the park?" Lille asked curiously.
"Have to wait and see, won't you babe?" I smirked.
"I'm think that I might do an Ask Lille when we get to the park, because no one really knows me and it would be nice for people to know who I am." she replied with a smile.
We spent the rest of the time, walking in pretty much silence, just enjoying the small views that we passed while on our way to the park. I decided that we were going to take the longer route, which went round the back, rather than through town because I didn't want anyone to see us until later when we were in town and doing the shopping.
If there were pictures of me and Lille in the park together, then Max really would raise questions about mine and his sister's relationship; he would hate me even more than he already does and he would want me to tell him the truth about what's going on.
"So, what are we doing here then?" Lille asked as we approached the entrance to the park after about twenty-five minutes; there was pretty much no one here and it also helped that it was a nice day as well, so it made the day even more special; especially since, the first time we came here, it started raining half way through the date and we ended up hiding under more than one tree just to keep ourselves dry. It was rather amusing actually, and made it even more romantic than it already had been.
"Just, keep walking forward and then you'll see what is here."
"What it is Jay?"
"Look, just trust me on this. Keep walking forward and you'll soon see what I'm going on about." I smiled as Lille walked ahead of me, looking for what I was talking, but she just continued to look more and more confused with each step she took.
"Why won't you just tell me Jay? This isn't even any funny anymore..." Lille chuckled.
"Only a couple more steps and we'll be there, I promise." I smiled, encouraging her to keep walking to where I had everything set out for her.
It was under the same tree which we had our original first date, and I had arranged for there to be a singer there at the same time while we ate the picnic which I had arranged for her. He was going to be singing all her favourite songs for her, including a couple of ours which I had told him he needed to sing, just for a laugh.
And I had planned for the two of us to be here for around two hours before we headed into town; I thought that was enough time for us to do everything that I wanted to do for her - this was my birthday present for her and I hoped that she liked what I had done.
Because, it was all for her.
