Chapter 21

"You sure this is the place?" I asked. Our group stood near the large entrance to the cavern. Icy wind blew from inside, and the whole area was frozen solid. Sure, it was a dumb question, but this was Kyurem's home, wasn't it? Why would Ghetsis come back here?

"I'm sure it is...we have to stop him here or else," N said seriously.

"It could be a trap. One way in, one way out. He takes away our exit; we're screwed," I mentioned, a bit wary about going in. Of course there were, like, 12 of us, but still.

"Regardless, we have to," N hesitated slightly before walking in, with the rest of us following.

I glanced at the others. Everyone had a determined look on their face, even Yellow. I haven't seen it, but I've heard Yellow wasn't someone you wanted to mess with. Apparently she could level up her Pokemon rapidly with just sheer emotion or something? And she's such a small, sweet girl too.

Gold's eyes were serious, but his lips were shaped into a slightly cocky smirk. He lazily held his billiard cue over his shoulders, with his hands grabbing onto both ends. I never understood why he carried that thing around, but Silver assured me that Gold's aim was nothing to scoff at. Crystal was just as talented, never missing her target, except she used her legs.

I could go on longer, but in short, everyone was damn talented. The negative thoughts of doubt left my head when I remembered who I was with, and I felt confident.

We can do this.

We will do this.

The deeper we got into the cave, the darker and colder it got. Green let his Charizard out to light the path and keep us warm. Our footsteps echoed down the cavern. It was eerily quiet other than that though; no water dripping, no Pokemon cries, no loud Kyurem roaring.

After a couple minutes of walking, N stopped and held his arm out to his right to signal for all of us to stop. He concentrated, like he was trying to listen for something.

"Move!" The green haired trainer shouted suddenly. We all were on high alert and immediately had a Pokeball in one of our hands. We didn't know what we were looking for until Silver suddenly jumped back and there was a ninja in front of him with a knife.

"Oh, you're quick," the ninja spoke. His voice sent shivers down my spine.

"Shinimi," Silver stated, venom in his words.
"You remember me, I'm flattered," Shinimi snickered. "That doesn't change the fact I'm going to make sure you suffer."

Silver eyes glared at him while the boy ordered, "Go on ahead, I've got this one."

"I'm not leaving you," I said, remaining in my spot. Shinimi was certainly not the only one here, his brothers had to be lurking. Knowing this, I ordered (as if I were in charge) Green, Red, and Silver to stay with me, while the others went on ahead to fight Ghetsis. "You guys take orders from Blue, got it?" The group nodded and split up, running ahead into the cold darkness; Gold's Typhlosion leading the way.

"Only four of you? Now that's no fun," the sadistic ninja pouted. "Maybe Zinzolin will be able to hold them off before they get to the boss though."

"I think you're underestimating us," I said, letting out Dragonite and Gallade. Shinimi sent out his two Bisharp and an Absol, and from the darkness four more Bisharp appeared alongside an Accelgor and Banette.

Green kept his Charizard out and Machamp. Silver called out Weavile and Feraligatr. Red brought out Espeon and Venusaur.

His Pokemon should be easy to deal with; we've got Red and Green; two of the strongest trainers. The Shadow Triad themselves however, that's another story. Speaking of them, both of Shinimi's brothers finally appeared, one on each side of him.

"She thinks she can beat us, isn't that cute?" He spoke. I couldn't see it through his mask, but his tone told me he was smirking. I'd do anything to punch his stupid mouth again. Yes, I said stupid mouth; I'm about to get into a heated battle this isn't the time for good insults (lies; it's always a good time for good insults, I just can't think right now).

I narrowed my eyes at him in a glare. "Dragonite, dragon rush!" I shouted, pointing at Shinimi. Without hesitation, my Pokemon glowed purple and launched at the trio at full speed. The three of them teleported with barely any time to spare.

"Oh Umber, that's playing dirty," Shinimi tsked. "Straight up attacking us with a dragon." He vanished, and due to past experience, I assumed he would appear near me. Where? I couldn't figure it out quickly enough so I quickly jumped forward, expecting him to show up behind me. Just in time too, because he missed his target.

"Darn, she's learning. Well, that'll make this fight more exciting," Shinimi said, knife glinting slightly in the low light.

"Dragonite, Gallade, deal with his Pokemon!" My two fighters leaped into action, busying themselves with the two Bisharp and Absol. Green was dealing with Kuro (I believe), while Red fought Ryuu. Silver backed me up, both of his Pokemon growling at his sides.

"Why don't you just run while you've got the chance?" Silver said, rather darkly.

"Oh~? Is your boyfriend going to protect you?" Shinimi taunted.

"At least she's got someone to protect her. Who's gonna save you?" The redhead retaliated. The Shadow Triad member just glared before readying his weapon. Silver stood his ground, although his ice and water types looked ready to pounce at any moment.

The ninja ran towards the Exchanger at such an incredible speed, I was sure he was invisible. Silver moved just as fast though, moving to the side in the blink of an eye.

"Yeah, Silver's quite the acrobat," I remember Gold telling me. 'Dude just clings to ceilings like Spinarak-Man and fucking...flips around like a gymnast. He's kind of ridiculous. The only way I managed to slow him down was by pretty much setting him on fire."

"That sounds a little excessive," I told him.

"Well he's still alive, isn't he?" Not for long in this fight if I don't do anything, but there was no way I could keep up with either of them. I couldn't just stand here like a stereotypical damsel in distress.

"Vee, psychic!" I heard Red shout over the chaos. I turned my head noticing that in his fight, he used his psychic pal to disarm his opponent. So with that move, I called to Feraligatr to switch places with Gallade.

"Feraligatr! Help Dragonite!"

The water type looked at me, not moving. I sighed; of course he wouldn't listen to me. Not only is he not mine, but he holds one hell of a grudge.

"Feraligatr, please! I have a plan and I need Gallade and Weavile!" I called out to my old friend. "Look, I'm sorry for being a jerk in the past, but I was a kid! A stupid, prepubescent kid! So please, trust me on this one so I can help Silver!"

I could visibly see the water starter huff before turning his attention to the two vs. three Pokemon battle. Hesitating, the alligator ran over, attacking the Bisharp focused on Gallade. My fighting type jumped back to avoid the attacks before turning and running to my side.

I smiled at Feraligatr, feeling a bit hopeful that he'll forgive me after this whole mess is over. But quickly enough I went back to the problem at hand.

"Gallade, psychic!" I commanded, pointing at the knife slashing at Silver. Gallade nodded, and moved his hands in front of his slender body before his eyes glowed blue. However, Shinimi took notice and teleported away before the attack landed. We all went defensive, wondering where he'd end up.

I noticed a slight shift behind Silver, and I screamed to him, telling him to watch out. He was a second too slow, however, and the blade cleanly sliced at his left cheek, right under his eye. He hissed in pain, immediately covering up the wound with his gloved hand.

"Oh, yes, that's what I wanna hear from you," Shinimi laughed. "I wanna hear you cry and scream in pain more though!" His eyes showed insanity, and he went to swing his knife again. The redhead, like the acrobat he is, jumped back quickly enough though to avoid the next attack (with would have been much more fatal). I had to slow Shinimi down before Silver was too tired to continue.

"Weavile?" I turned to the ice type still at my side. He nodded, understanding the situation. With a mischievous smirk, Weavile ran forward, swiftly slashing at our opponent. The Shadow Triad member dodged Weavile's attack, losing focus on Silver. And now that the redhead was in a better position, the ice type was able to freeze Shinimi to his spot.

"Now, Gallade, psychic again!" I commanded. My Pokemon successfully took the weapon by force, and it was quickly in my possession.

"Oh? And what are you gonna do with that? Kill me?" Shinimi laughed, probably knowing that I wouldn't have the heart to kill him.

"I could have killed you long ago," Silver commented and gave Weavile a non-verbal command. His dual type jumped on the frozen ninja's back, sharp claws at his neck. I looked at Silver, and was truthfully a little frightened. His eyes were flat out apathetic; he looked like if I was okay with killing Shinimi, he'd do it.

Shinimi still found this whole thing hilarious apparently. Even with claws sharp as blades near his neck, he laughed. "Then go ahead, do it!"

I noticed it got quiet within the cave. The battles around us have ended, Kuro and Ryuu were knocked out, and all of the Shadow Triad's Pokemon were defeated. The only one still making noise was the (most likely insane) Shinimi.

"Just shut the hell up!" The Exchanger growled, with Weavile tightening his hold in response.

"Leave him for now, it's not like he can go anywhere, being frozen to the ground and all," I said, turning my back to the ninja.

"...Fine," Silver glared, waving his ice type off. His Pokemon did as instructed, hopping down and over to us.

"You're all stupid! I'll come back for you, Umber," Shinimi giggled. "You'll be mine and your darling boyfriend will be dead!"

Silver put an arm around me as we walked deeper into the cave as I tried blocking out Shinimi's threats.

"I'll see you soon, my love!" He called, his insane laughter echoing, even though he was far out of sight. Even though we beat him once again, he still made me uncomfortable. It must have shown because not only did Silver have an arm around me, but Red placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry about him, we'll figure out what to do with him," the trainer assured.

"I won't let that bastard hurt you again," Silver said.

"What about you though?" I asked, remembering his cut. "You okay?"

"I'm fine," he said, although the blood smeared on his face said otherwise.

"We need to get that cleaned up before it gets infected," I said, ignoring his statement. "Or maybe a little kiss would make it all better." I teased. Red snickered besides me while Silver had his pouty face.

"Don't you dare, especially in front of these two; I don't need Blue hearing about that shit," the tsundere grumbled. I laughed until I remembered our situation; how we're basically walking towards possibly death. The three boys around me seemed to sense the sudden tense air between us.

"Everything will be okay after we beat this Ghetsis guy," Red said with a thumbs up, and Green giving a reassuring nod besides him.

I smiled a little to myself. Like I said earlier; we've got some of the strongest trainers in history here. With our heads held high, we picked up the pace to meet up with our friends deeper in the cave.

How hard could this be?
