Chapter 16

"Alright, so we solved one problem," Gold said, looking over to Yellow and N. "Now what?" Because of them and their weird ability to communicate with Pokemon, we were able to find a lot of homes the creatures belonged to.

"I guess just take them where they need to go," I said, cringing at the amount of Pokemon there were to return. Some trainers did show up and were able to help us find theirs, but there's still so many left over.

"That's a lot of work," the breeder whined, slumping his shoulders.

"Yeah, and there's 10 of us who aren't doing anything," Crystal said.

I counted the 10 on my fingers, Red, Blue, Green, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Then including me makes 10 but...

"I actually gotta go so..." I spoke up.

"Go where? Why do you always leave?" Gold asked, standing up straight again.

"I was gonna go check out that city that was attacked, and see what was taken," I told him and Crystal. "It could get us to our next step of figuring out what Team Plasma's plan is."

"Then I, your shining knight in golden armor, will escort you!" Gold said, beginning to march away.

"No you don't! You're going to stay here and help with the Pokemon!" Crystal yelled at him, dragging him towards the others by his hoodie. I just laughed a little and walked over to N.

"I'm gonna go off and investigate the city Team Plasma attacked, alright?" I said. I thought it would be nice or something to tell him I'm leaving.

"Now? Shouldn't you give yourself a break?" He replied, putting a Pokeball down. "You took down their ship and broke into the International Police's headquarters in one day," He looked out the window of the PWT lobby, noticing the orange hue the sky has taken. "And it's getting dark."

"But Team Plasma—"

"How about you go back to the castle and check on everyone?" The green haired boy interrupted me, picking up another Pokeball.

"But—"

"And take Silver with you, he seems lonely." We looked over at the redhead, who was stuck babysitting two lovestruck Weavile.

I groaned at this very one-sided conversation. "This isn't a video game when you can take all the time in the world before taking action and stopping the bad guys! They're real and they're out there!"

"And 'bad guys' need rest too, so they probably aren't going to do anything. Besides, you ruined their plan today so they most likely need time to recover."

"But they got—"

"I'd appreciate it very much if you checked on the Pokemon back home, they probably miss you," N said in a soft tone. "It's been weeks since we saw them, so at least go give Gardevoir a break."

I sighed, giving in. "Fine." I turned and walked towards Silver, who was just watching the pair of Weavile.

"Come on, we're gonna go on a field trip," I said, standing in front of the boy sitting on the floor, with Weavile now climbing him like a tree.

"Anything to get me out of this," he said, taking both of the Pokemon and putting them on the ground before standing up.

"Don't act like you didn't enjoy that," I snickered.

"I didn't!" He growled.

"Whatever you say," I said as we walked out.

He just groaned and asked, "Where are we even going?"

"I'm gonna show you where I live!" I took out Dragonite and hopped on, gesturing for Silver to get on.

"I have my own flying type," the exchanger said, about to take Honchkrow out.

"You're a DexHolder; don't you know how fast Dragonite can fly from that little red box? You'd never be able to keep up."

Silver just, "Hmph"ed and got on after me, with both our Weavile in front of me.

"Alright, Dragonite, you know what to do," I said, holding on tightly. Without warning, Dragonite took off. And when I say took off, I really mean it.

"Were you trying to knock me off??" Silver yelped, gripping onto me to avoid being blown off. I patted Dragonite's side to let him know he can slow down.

"Yes," I replied plainly.

"What the fuck did I do?"

"Forcefully fly me to the headquarters. This is something I call payback," I laughed. "Arceus Silver, man up, you're clinging onto me like some girl on the back of a motorcycle."

Blushing, the boy let go of me and looked to the side, focusing on the distant horizon and sunset. The sky and clouds were deep shades of orange and red, groups of bird Pokemon could be seen calmly flying, and the sea sparkled beautifully. I loved sunsets; all the colors just made me feel relaxed and at peace.

"Don't you just love sunsets?" I contently sighed, still looking at the colors.

"Sure," He replied.

"Sure? That's it? You're lame," I huffed, facing forward once again.

"I prefer sunrise," Silver admitted.

"Gross, that's early," I said.

I could see the cave opening from here, and directed Dragonite land in front of it. "We're here!"

"You live in a cave," Silver stated, looking at the cave. "You wanted to show me a cave."

"Hell no, I'd never live in a cave." Dragonite landed, and we each slid off, and both Weavile hopped down. I returned the orange dragon and walked in, followed by the redhead and our smaller Pokemon. After walking down some stairs, the underground castle could be seen, and a silent, "Holy shit," could be heard behind me. I just laughed and picked up the pace.

Walking in, Silver was still pretty awestruck, even though it's a bit of a dump. "You live here?"

"I believe I said that, yeah," I said, heading towards the room where most of the Pokemon would be found. They're free to wander, of course, but there's one room they've always preferred. "You're gonna love this," I told Silver, entering said room.

As I guessed, most of the Pokemon were in here, playing, eating, sleeping, whatever. There was a pool for water types N and I fixed up, an area with small trees and flowers for the grass and bug types, a large sandbox for the rock and ground types, and a high glass ceiling with bars for flying types to perch themselves on. As you could guess, the room was huge. And the glass ceiling allowed us to see outside, where some rock crumbled away. Light poured in, giving everything an orange hue.

"What do you think? This is the room we worked on the hardest," I said, turning to Silver. His eyes were widened and he was in such a trance, I was unsure if he heard me.

"Oh, we should probably let the others out so they can stretch a little," I suggested, letting out the rest of my Pokemon. Kingdra went in the pool, Glaceon went to find the other ice types, Zorua stayed close by, Gallade went to go help Gardevoir, and Dragonite just flopped down to rest. Silver did the same; his water types going straight for the pool, Usaring just sorta looked around confused before heading off for a group of larger Pokemon, and Honchkrow went up for the bars on the ceiling to rest.

"They seem to like it," I noticed, referring to Silver's Pokemon. I turned to him, and he was still looking around.

"Honestly, I'm kinda jealous," He said, watching a group of baby Pokemon run around in circles. "I've always wanted to live somewhere where Pokemon could just run around freely, happily...somewhere I would never feel lonely."

"It does get lonely sometimes though...it's nice and all, they do make me happy, but they're not humans," I replied.

"Growing up I always imagined my home in a sunny place, filled with Pokemon inside and out," He smiled slightly at the thought. "I mean they're all inside here but it's still a huge place, it's not like they'll run out of room."

"They do go outside quite a bit, just not now since it's getting late," I told him. "Do you want me to give you a small tour? I assume you're staying here tonight."

"...Sure."

Just me and him walked through a few floors, and I showed him multiple rooms he could chose to sleep in, where we normally ate, the bathrooms, and so on. By the time we got back, it was dark outside and the room was lit by the moonlight. Another one of my favorite things.

"Do you want anything?" I asked.

"No, I just wanna sit in here," He said, sitting down in one of the chairs we set up.

"Do you care which room you stay in? If not I'm just gonna go pick the nearest and get it ready," I said, turning.

The boy stopped me by grabbing my wrist. "Um, can you actually stay here?"

"Sure? I just don't wanna wait too long to get ready for bed," I sat down in the chair next to him.

No one said anything for a good minute or so, so I decided to break the silence. "What happened after I left? Did I miss anything?"

"Not too much, besides the fact me and my current ex got together, and Gold and Kris," Silver said. "What about you? What did you do in Orre?"

"Made some friends, caught some Pokemon, and kicked bad guy ass," I said, remembering all the crazy shit in Orre.

I had only been there for a month or so, didn't really travel, just sorta settled in the best place I could find. Or the coolest (as in temperature). Basically the same thing. Phenac City was the coolest place I could find, but there was no way in hell I would be able to afford living here. I learned Pyrite Town was NOT a place you wanted to stay, and avoided it whenever I could. Agate Village ended up being my favorite place; sane people (except for the lady with her Poochyena, stay away from her), actual plants instead of sand for miles, and people you could have friendly battles with.

I was in Phenac for the day, for who knows what reason. Weird guys were walking around in identical costumes of some sort, just in different colors. There were three of them, I noticed, and they just so happened to block each exit. Weird guys in weird clothes acting suspiciously was something I had to check out.

There was a guy in red, one in blue, and one in green. Their Pokemon, who all looked aggressive as fuck, stood besides them, on high alert.

"Do you see it?" A voice said suddenly behind me.

"Holy shit, what the hell," I jumped and turned, seeing a tall green haired guy.

"I apologize, did I scare you?" He looked concerned, and tilted his head slightly.

"Yeah, a little," I said. "What were you talking about? See what?"

"The dark aura surrounding those Pokemon," his eyes glanced towards them once more. "Something isn't right."

"Well this should be exciting then, I've been here for weeks and nothing exciting has happened."

"Are you not from here?" The boy asked.

"Nah, I'm from Johto," I told him. "I'm Umber."

"I'm N, from Unova," He smiled.

"I'm assuming N," Silver said, referring to the new friends I made.

"Yes, him, and some other dude. You would have liked him," I laughed.

"So what do we do about the weird Pokemon? The ones with the aura like you said," I asked N. We decided it would be better to walk around a bit instead of staring at the freaks in costume and whispering. That was bound to get us a 'hey punks, what are you talking about, fight me,' sort of thing. I wasn't too sure if I wanted to battle strange Pokemon without having a general grasp of what the hell is up.

"You can see it too??" Some girl, popping up out of nowhere, said. And, oh Arceus, she had pigtails. That's a bad sign. However, instead of brown hair and a mushroom hat, she had orange hair. Like Misty colored hair. I think they're the same color actually. "Sorry for suddenly intruding, it's just that people thought I was weird when I said I could see them. Well except for my new friend over there," She jabbed a thumb behind her, pointing at some guy in a battle with one of the costumed dudes.

"I can't see it but my friend here," I pointed at N, poking fun at the girl's gesture, "can."

The other boy came over at this point, tossing a Pokeball up and down. He had a long blue coat on (why), black pants (why x2), and black boots (why x3).

"Wes, this guy says he can see the auras too! Maybe they can help!" The girl said.

Wes—I can safely assume was the guy who just joined us—tucked the Pokeball away before saying, "You just met these people, how can you trust them?"

"Well, I just met you, and I trust you completely! You're my knight in shining armor after all!"

The boy in blue visibly cringed at the title, and sighed, "Whatever."

"I'm Rui, and this is Wes!" Pigtails finally introduced.

"Looks like we're all new to each other then; me and N here just met too. I'm Umber," I said, thinking what a coincidence it was. Especially since later on we all sorta learned 3 out of the 4 of us were some form of ex villain; N, the former King of Team Plasma, Wes, former Team Snagem member, and me, former Team Rocket member.

"Eventually the four of us kicked Cipher ass, stopped them from producing Shadow Pokemon, purified all the affected Pokemon, and then relaxed for a bit before me and N came back here," I said, telling Silver the whole story. "Weavile and Glaceon came from Orre, Weavile was a Shadow Pokemon as a Sneasel and Wes gave me Eevee before we left."

Silver just sat there, taking the whole thing in. "Didn't I tell you things would get exciting?"

"Huh?" I asked.

"Remember that night two years ago, when we were at that reunion or something and we went outside? I told you my childhood and you told me yours," He said, blushing the slightest at the memory. "You said something how your life wasn't as exciting as mine or some crap like that." Ah, yes, the shitty night when he almost kissed me and I pushed him away like an idiot. I just laughed, pushing that memory away. "...You could do more like that if you became a DexHolder, you know." Silver continued, in a softer tone (which he was apparently capable of).

I sighed. "I understand that, but I told you, you guys wouldn't want me as a—"

"I do! Don't you dare say that shit when you say we wouldn't want you because of who you were! We don't care about that! The only thing we care about is who you are now!" He snapped, and let out a sigh when he was done. I just sorta stopped and stared at the boy. "I forgive you."

"Wha?"

"I said I forgive you. You said you were sorry hundreds of times, right? But you had no one to forgive you. So there, I forgive you and all your stupid mistakes."

"But I got you hurt..."

"Yeah, and? I've been hurt before. It's not like I'm completely blind now. I'm fine, and I forgive you." Soft silver eyes finally met my umber ones.

"Silver..."

I didn't immediately register what happened next. But once I did, I didn't have time to react. He pulled his lips away from mine, looking down and getting redder in the face.

"I never got the chance to say it before so..." The red boy took a deep breath before looking back up at me. "I...I love you..."

I felt my face and ears burn. I was totally unprepared for this, what the hell. What am I suppose to do? Tell him, 'I love you too'? Kiss him? Run out of the room?

Apparently the second option worked for me. I pulled him into another kiss, this time being in more control of my senses. He kissed me back, thankfully, and I broke the kiss for only a second, moving over to his chair. I sat on his lap, which he accepted, wrapping his arms around me and kissed me again. I ran my fingers through his soft, red hair, and pulled him into a deeper kiss. Eventually we pulled away for this thing called air, and just sorta blushed while staring at each other like, 'what the hell just happened?'

"I love you too." I finally replied.

"With that kind of response, I'd be surprised if you didn't," Silver said, chuckling slightly.

"Don't ruin it."

"You should probably go get a bed ready for me like you were going to," He said, loosening his grip on me, but not completely letting go.

"I actually have a better idea," I smiled, getting off his lap and running out, leaving him without an explanation. I came back with a couple pillows and blankets. I tossed the pillows and blankets on the ground, except for the thickest and softest one, and spread it out on the ground.

"What are you doing?" Silver asked, still sitting in his chair.

I finished setting the blankets down, and then tossed the couple pillows on top of them. "It's like sleeping under the stars, c'mere!" I told him, laying down on the blankets. I wiggled my boots off and threw them aside, then took my blue jacket off and threw that aside as well. Silver walked over and just looked at me. "Well, come on," I said, patting the space to the right of me. He just sighed and took his shoes and jacket off, laying down next to me. I used his chest as my pillow, and I swear I could hear his heart beat rapidly increase.

Pokemon gathered around, curling up with us. I smiled, knowing they would do this. I don't have to look to know Silver's smiling too. As I was falling asleep, I felt his arm shift and wrap around me. Eventually his heart beat steadied, and his breathing was calm and slow, letting me know he was sound asleep.
