Chapter 14

Silver's POV

"What the hell has gotten into you?!" I demanded after I had caught the girl. Her brown eyes were wide with panic and her breathing was quick.

"The police! They still have N!" Umber yelled, smacking my hand off of her shoulder.

I was confused only for a second, realizing N was probably the green haired guy she was with. That's when I remembered their kiss in Castelia, before the International Police showed up. I looked down. I didn't want her to see my grief.

I thought back to when I went to go break Umber out of jail, the green haired guy—N—was there as well, in a different part of the building. Unless if they transported him or released him, he should still be there.

"I know where he is." I sighed, looking back up at her. She furrowed her eyebrows, either suspicious or confused, but relaxed none the less.

"How do you know where he is?" The magenta haired girl questioned.

I hesitated, wondering if I should really mention how I witnessed their arrest. Honestly, I don't know how she would react (she can be pretty unpredictable...). "I was in Castelia when you were arrested, and I kinda followed to break you out...?" I said, blushing slightly (shut up, I know what you're thinking).

Umber eyes widened in surprise, but narrowed almost immediately after. "And you didn't break us out? I mean, I kinda understand why you didn't get me, but why not at least N??" Arceus, not this shit.

"Oh, I don't know, perhaps because I don't know the guy??" I shot back, sarcasm in the 'I don't know'. "Nor do I care."

"Excuse me? If you saw him with me, you should have known he was important to me!" She unreasonably yelled at me.

I continued to scream back at her though, without thinking about my words. "You were with me two years ago and I didn't mean shit to you, so don't give me that crap!" Umber's irked expression faded, was was replaced with one of remorse. I realized what I had said, and immediately started apologizing. "Shit, I'm sorry, I-I wasn't thinking and I just—"

"Don't apologize." She said, all hints of anger gone. "Just...could you tell me how to get there?"

"I'm taking you there." I declared. No way was I going to let her break into a prison, as a wanted criminal, by herself (shut up, I'm not over-protective).

"No, it would be awkward. In a way." Umber blushed and looked away. "I don't know how my boyfriend would react to...you being with me." She said, wording 'you' in that 'ugh, it's you' sort of way. Isn't that great.

"Boyfriend?" I questioned. I don't know why I'm asking, I mean they kissed; it should be obvious they're together. "You said you haven't moved on."

"Oh, well, I decided since you have, I should too..." Umber admitted. "I've known N for the past two years, and he asked, so, uh, yeah...You have Lyra, and I have N; it all works out."

"We broke up." I stated. Better to just get it out of the way.

"Oh." Awkward silence. "Why'd you break up?"

Because I went to go help my crush. "She was too clingy." I lied.

"Ah." Continued awkward silence. Arceus, why is there so much tension between us? I looked down at my feet and shuffled slightly. Umber held her loosely hanging arm, looking somewhere else in the city. Both Weavile looked up at us concerned.

"Come on, let's go already." I said, trying to break the tension. I pulled out Honchkrow's Pokeball and released the bird, gesturing for Umber to get on.

"I said I'm going myself." Stubborn as usual.

"No you aren't. I haven't told you how to get there, and I don't want you going alone." Instead, I climbed on Honchkrow with the two Weavile, patted his side, and flew a few feet up. Umber raised an eyebrow, and before she could ask what was going on, Honchkrow grabbed her and we took off.

She screamed for a bit, demanding "put me down right now you oversized bird!" I politely reminded her we are quite some distance from the ground and if Honchkrow let go now, she'd probably die.

We landed about a mile away from their headquarters, since they probably keep a look out. After dropping Umber, she brushed her clothes off and ran fingers through her long hair, which honestly didn't help. She groaned when she realized this and gave up. We both probably didn't look amazing; flying multiple times in a day, battling all day and going through a rescue mission was bound to make you look like a wreck. She had a blue tank top, white jeans, and black boots, all covered in dirt or small hints of blood. Her hair was knotted and her eyes had dark circles under her eyes. Clearly she was as exhausted as I was.

"We should call it a day after we're done with this." I said, returning Honchkrow. I was about to return Weavile as well, but it appeared that he didn't want to part with the other Weavile.

"I'm not gonna argue with you there." She looked in the direction of headquarters. "Come on, the sooner we get him out the sooner we can rest."

"We? I thought you wanted to do this yourself." I said.

Her lips pulled back in a frown. "Shut up, I just need the company."

"You need my help." I smirked.

"No I don't!" Umber turned, walking off. I smiled a bit when she wasn't looking, and I followed her.

Umber's POV

Dirt shuffled under my feet as I walked quickly, ignoring the fact I didn't know how we were going to break in. Although I assume Silver has a plan since he's done this before.

Silver walked ahead of me, and led us over to the side of the building. He looked around quickly before popping the crate-thing off the vent there, and gestured for me to follow him. He crawled in, I followed, and both Weavile came in after me.

"Nice ass." I whispered, smirking.

"Shut the hell up." He whispered back. I snickered but not loud enough to cause attention. Other than that, we stayed quiet, the only sound being the the shuffling of our clothes against the metal.

"He's just up ahead." Silver whispered. "I'll let you go first since you know him."

I didn't reply. I just went the way Silver told me to turn so that I was in front of him. It was like a three way street, I turned right in the direction of N's cell, and Silver went straight so I could pass. He did back up and follow me though.

"Do you see him?" The redhead asked.

I had to look closely through the circles on the crate, but once I got the proper view, I could see a bit of green. I had to hold back a gasp. "Yeah, he's in there. What do you suggest I do?"

"Weavile." I could hear a little bit of shuffling behind me, and soon Silver's Weavile was besides me. "Weavile will go pick the lock and you can pull him up here."

I popped the crate off, and allowed Weavile to slip out. The quiet clinging of metal caught N's attention, and he looked up at me. But instead of happiness, he looked more...disappointed.

"Where have you been?" He asked me.

"Well your Shadow Triad sorta kidnapped me so..." I said. It wasn't my fault I couldn't break him out. "I'm sorry I'm just now coming for you."

"That's not it. I could have been out of here by now but you weren't here. It's been 2 weeks, Umber...I was able to clear myself but they still need me here because they haven't been able to ask you anything. They need to know why we've been together." He said, frowning slightly. "And I was worried. I overheard them say that some dark figures took you out of here, so I assumed it was the Shadow Triad. And now, the police think you're with Team Plasma."

I groaned. Just what I needed, more misunderstanding. "Well just come on, Weavile will get you out of there and we can finally go."

"Umber, I want you to be honest with them." N said. "If you tell them everything that had happened, including between you and Team Plasma, they'll be on your side. You can stop hiding."

"Umber, don't you dare. They're police; they see you as a criminal." I heard Silver behind me. "Deal with them after Team Plasma is taken down. They may let you off the hook if they see you were one involved in their destruction."

Both of them were right in a way. If I turned myself in now, I could clear myself. Even Silver could help clear my name. But, Silver was once a criminal, and he was off the hook for helping save Kanto and Johto. But I'm waist deep in International Police Headquarters, so what was I suppose to do? Turn around and leave N here until Team Plasma is taken down?

I dropped the crate, making sure the clanging of metal was loud enough to echo through the hallways. Silver cursed behind me, and yelled at me to stop, but I jumped out. Out in the open to the cameras and police running this way.
