Chapter 12

Umber's POV

I assume Gold is gonna show up on the deck, so I ran there to make sure he had space to land (or didn't have grunts trying to attack him on the way down). Silver's Weavile and my Gallade ran on each side of me.

"There she is!"

I heard footsteps running behind me, but not like a single person. It was a crowd. A crowd of grunts and their Pokemon chasing me. I kept running though, and I could see sunlight ahead. Just a little further!

Shockingly, I did make it to deck, but now there were more grunts surrounding me. Shinimi appeared in front of me, his face still bloody from that punch to the face I gave him.

"I really hate that you did this, Umber. I really wanted us to be friend's." He said darkly. "Maybe even more."

"Uh, yeah, ok. Friend's; sure. More than that? No thanks, I'm kinda taken and I never felt the same way, so..." I scratched the back of my neck.

"Is that so? I suppose I'll have to kill you and the poor bastard who already claimed you."

"Hmm...sorry, I don't like the sound of that either." I said. I grabbed Dragonite's Pokeball, and released him. "Dragonite; hyper beam!"

Shinimi vanished, and grunts scattered as my orange dragon powered up the attack. He attacked, hitting multiple grunts, Pokemon, and well, left a hole in the floor. ...Good thing we're not in water.

"Wea!" Weavile grinned, looking up. There was Gold AND Silver flying down to the deck. Just what I needed; unnecessary drama from Silver.

"I see your friend's are coming." Shinimi said behind me. "Three on one isn't fair..."

"It is when you have a couple truck loads of grunts." I mumbled.

"We both know grunts are useless pawns...oh wait, you were a grunt once, weren't you?" He snickered. "Ah, well, I guess it's a good thing I've got two brothers."

Silver and Gold landed, already taking out a couple Pokemon to battle with. Feraligatr and Ambipom. Weavile ran to Silver, getting into a defensive position at his side. Grunts released several poison and dark types.

"Feraligatr, hydro pump! Weavile, ice beam!"

"Ataro, swift!" Gold and Silver fought as many grunts as they could, successfully knocking many underleveled Pokemon out quickly.

Shinimi let out two Bisharp, and I had Gallade and Dragonite fight them.

"Gallade, brick break!"

"Low sweep!"

Bisharp ducked and tripped Gallade, causing brick break to miss.

"Dragonite, dragon claw!"

"X-scissor!"

The other Bisharp ran to Dragonite, glowing claws and blades making contact. Dragonite proved to be stronger, and threw Bisharp back.

"Both of you, night slash!"

"Counter with dragon claw and leaf blade!"

Dragonite was once again able to throw Bisharp back, while Gallade was still struggling a bit. "Brick break, now!" With his other hand, Gallade landed a very successful hit to Bisharp, who fell back and fainted.

At this point, Silver and Gold dealt with all the grunts, and were now fighting Shinimi's brothers; Kuro and Ryuu. I decided I'd go help as soon as I finished here with Shinimi.

"Dragonite, dragon rush! Gallade, brick break!" Both of my Pokemon rushed towards the lonely Bisharp.

"Iron head! Now!"

Obeying orders, Bisharp ran forward as well, preparing for the head on collision. Impact caused a slight explosion, and when the smoke cleared, Bisharp was down.

Shinimi sent a glare towards me, returning his Pokemon. "Do you think you won?" He growled.

"Yeah, kinda." I said, although I knew where this was heading. Sort of. These guys are kind of unpredictable. The ninja disappeared, and before I realized it, he was behind me. I was grabbed, and we teleported to a different room. Out of instinct, I reached for one of the three Pokeballs I had remaining on my belt, but Shinimi grabbed my arms and held them together behind my back.

"You know, Ghetsis gave me permission to kill you." He said, still behind me. "Originally he planned to kill you himself earlier, but that plan didn't work out. Not with you calling your buddies and trying to hijack the ship."

"You wouldn't do that, would you?" I asked.

"The Shadow Triad follow every order given by Lord Ghetsis. If it weren't for him, me and my brothers would be dead."

"Ok, so even after confessing your love for me, you'd kill me? Well, at least you're loyal."

One of his hands still held my wrists together, while the other played with my hair. "It is a shame though, I'm more for the locking traitors up and torturing them, as they watch our plans successfully take place."

"That is quite a shame. And since you are going to kill me, do you want to at least tell me what was with that Pokemon locked up on the ship?"

"Kyurem? Is that what you're referring to?" Shinimi asked, tucking my hair behind my ear. "Well, actually, the little event should be occurring soon, so why don't I keep you alive long enough to show you?"

"Huh?" He pulled me over to a window, and below us was Opelucid City. Just as I looked down at the city, the ship stopped, and a low rumble could be heard. That rumble quickly turned into the sound of large machinery turning on, and as if something was powering up. Suddenly, a beam came from somewhere on the ship, and blasted the city below. Now the city was covered in ice, buildings were destroyed, and no doubt people who were outside were killed.

"What the hell was that for?! You just froze an entire city for what purpose?!" I screamed at him, now struggling.

"Simple; we needed to test to see if the equipment worked, and there is an item in this city that we need. I should really get going, but first." Shinimi said, pulling his knife out again. "I need to finish you off before I assist my brothers."

His cold hands gently touched my face as he tilted my head to look at him. He grinned like he always did before this, and pulled his mask off his face. "You said I was hotter without the mask, right?" He laughed, before pressing his lips to mine, and driving the blade through my chest.

When he broke the kiss, I started to laugh, which confused him greatly. Who the hell laughs after being stabbed through the chest? Not me, that's for sure.

"You know, you should have thought this through more." I said. "Sure, I don't have some of my strongest Pokemon with me, that was smart, however, I do have one tricky little fox with me who can still do quite a bit even when in a Pokeball." The illusion dismissed, and it was revealed to Shinimi that I was actually on the other side of the room, completely unharmed.

"Now thank you for everything you told me, and I apologize for leaving so rudely, but I believe it is time for me to go." I said, opening the door and running out. I had to get to the deck quickly though, I can't do much against a vanishing ninja by myself.

I made it to deck, where Silver and Gold were standing, just finishing off their battles, causing the two other ninjas to flee. Probably down to the city.

"Alright now that that's taken care of, let's get these stolen Pokemon to the tournament." I said as I walked to the two DexHolders. "Gold, follow Weavile and make sure the Pokemon are all right. Silver, you and me will stay here to make sure no  unwanted visitors attack.

"Aww, I love being a team again like this." Gold smiled, running off with his Ambipom and Silver's Weavile. Now it was just me and Silver, who just walked over to the wheel or whatever.

"I sure hope you know how to work this thing." Silver sighed.

I followed him over and shrugged. "Just keep an eye out...wait a minute, you're not wearing glasses. Can you see alright?" I asked.

"...I got contacts after some bitch threw my glasses off a dock."

"...Sorry." I apologized. "I just needed some time. I was being watched by the Shadow Triad too, so I kinda had to act."

"That's not all is it?"

"...What do you mean?"

"You were the one who told me to get contacts after all. There must have been some other reason for that."

"...I felt guilty." I admitted, steering the airship to Driftveil. "Seeing you with glasses reminded me of when that accident happened and I couldn't help but think, 'that was my fault'."

Silver remained quiet, and stared down at the ground.

"...Stay focused. Ghetsis must have noticed we're moving and probably sent someone after us. We only have a few minutes." I said.

There was just silence between us. There was so much that needed to be said, we both knew it, but we didn't have the time to. Dragonite, Gallade, and Feraligatr stood defensively near us. Footsteps could be heard down coming up one of the stairs to the deck.

"Are you ready?" Silver asked.

"Yeah."
