Epilogue
"Mommy!" Yelled a red headed little girl as she burst through the door with a newspaper in her hands. "Look look! Daddy's on the paper!!"
Her mother placed a small brown book back on the bookshelf before turning to look at her daughter.
"Well I hope so honey, he's the Kazekage after all." She finished with a small laugh. She took the newspaper from her daughter to take a look at it. Gaara was being a hero as always; he saved the village from an invasion from a group of rogue shinobi the other day. The news article was about that, no surprise. Hana smiled at her daughter Kasumi. She turned five a few weeks ago, her seafoam green eyes sparkling whenever she mentioned her father. Kasumi absolutely adored Gaara. For one thing, they look almost identical. Except little Kasumi has long hair, which is now all tangled up because of her running around the house during play time. Hana sighs as she goes to grab a hair tie, about to wrestle with Kasumi's hair for the third time today.
"Baby sit on the chair for me so I can fix your hair."
"Yes mommy!" Little Kasumi scrambled onto the chair while her mother carefully brushed it and braided it to the side.
"Mommy after this can we play tag?"
"Sure honey." Said Hana with a smile. "But finish picking up your toys before we go out to play."
"Awww, fine." Kasumi whined as she hopped off the chair. She hurried off to put the toys away as Hana put the chair back. Hana laughed at her baby's antics, and thought as to how these years have flown by.
A lot has happened since Hana had gotten married. For one thing Haku was already going on missions! He was turning 15 soon, and was going on a B rank mission next week. Gaara had kept his promise and trained Haku whenever he got the chance. Haku used his shifting ability to be a better with reconnaissance and observation, and has gained a nice reputation as more of a spy ninja. Yuki just turned 11, and she decided she wanted to follow in my footsteps at the bakery! So far she busses tables and cleans the front of the store, but eventually Chiharu is gonna teach her how to work the register.
Hana's parents are still active ninja, though happy about their first grandchild and how much joy she brings to the home whenever they visit. Hana's mother spoils Kasumi with her food while Mr. Aozora plays all of Kasumi's games of pretend like tea party and ninja time. Chiharu and Akihiro are still going strong after five years of dating. Chiharu is dying for Akihiro to commit already and to propose. What she doesn't know is that Akihiro is waiting for their trip to the onsen in the mountains to propose. He was so giddy about getting the ring and getting all the details ready for the proposal that he almost told Chiharu. Twice. Luckily Daisuke thought ahead and is keeping the ring at his place until the proposal date so Akihiro doesn't slip up.
Daisuke on the other hand is doing great! Kankuro convinced him to seek professional help for his PTSD; and while he isn't at 100% he can definitely sleep a bit better now. Kankuro was starting to feel more prideful of himself and made his relationship with Daisuke public, haters be damned. They moved in to Daisuke's home and should be celebrating their second anniversary as a married couple next month. Kankuro got baby fever after babysitting Kasumi a few times over the years and has been asking Daisuke to have a baby together. They're still debating whether or not to adopt since they both have full time jobs. But they definitely dream about having a baby together.
Temari and Shikamaru have long moved out of the Kazekage mansion to their own home. They now have a little boy named Shikadai. They love their little boy more than anything else in the world. They sometimes come to visit so Shikadai can play with Kasumi. Kasumi is older though so she usually drags him along to play with dolls and the occasional fake ninja gear to practice with. Shikamaru was in for a surprise the day he came to pick up Shikadai only to see the poor kiddo in a bonnet and stuck playing tea time with Kasumi! Temari on the other hand couldn't stop laughing.
Hana shook her head at those funny memories. Her sweet baby girl grew up so quickly from then. She sighed happily as she follows Kasumi outside to play. Giggles could be heard as Kasumi ran from her mom in their game of tag. To make things fair since Kasumi has tiny legs, Hana shifted into her red panda form to chase her daughter. Kasumi was lucky enough to inherent the Aozora abilities of shifting, but was still too young to do it on her own command. That would still take time. Thankfully Gaara has thought ahead and bought a rolled up mat in case her spirit animal would be similar to Hiniku's size. It turns out....out of all the animals her sweet baby girl could be....she is.... a puma. It did make sense, given how much Kasumi liked to climb since she was a toddler. There were so many times Gaara used his sand to save his child from falling from yet another random piece of furniture she somehow managed to climb on. Not to mention the time Gaara and Hana had left Kasumi in Kankuro's care only to come back and find her somehow on top of the fridge while Daisuke panicked and Kankuro was running with a step stool to save her. That picture is still in a photo album somewhere.
The game of tag kept on until the sun started to set. Hana let out a squeak for her daughter to follow her. Kasumi picked out her pajamas as they both went to the bathroom to bathe before dinnertime. Hana transformed back and got the water ready while grabbing her own clothes and towels for both of them. After bath time Hana let Kasumi watch some tv while she made a quick dinner, knowing Gaara should be home soon. Once the meal was almost ready, Hana took a quick glance at Kasumi before running to her room quickly. She went to her drawer and from the far back pulled out a small gift bag. She giggled to herself as she ran back and placed it on the table. Tonight was going to be a special night, not just because Hiniku was coming with his mate. She had a special surprise planned. Oh, and for those who are wondering, Hiniku and Kiba are in fact together. Hiniku finally told him about his clan and the marks of the mates. Luckily Kiba was also from an animalistic clan so it was easy for him to accept. Tsume on the other hand was not fond of hearing her son in law came from a feline clan, but soon accepted him when she realized that he can also shift into a canine. Plus all the nin dogs loved him, so she didn't have much of a choice. Hiniku won her over quickly though. He was such a great cook and helper around the house that she decided to make him a member of the family. The couple soon married and opted to live in the Inuzuka compound. Hiniku is still just a nervous wreck around his husband though, still not getting used to his casanova of a mate.
"I'm home." Said a voice Hana knew all too well.
"Daddy!!!" Yelled Kasumi as she leaped into her father's arms. He smiled as he gave her a little twirl before setting her down to kiss his wife.
"I missed you dear Kazekage." She said with a teasing look. He laughed and said "I'm sorry, the meeting ran longer than expected."
The family got the table ready just as the doorbell rang. Gaara rose to answer the door with Kasumi by his side while Hana started to serve the plates.
"Uncle Hiniku! Uncle Kiba!"
"Heya kid, hope we're not late." Said Kiba as he ruffled her hair. The couple walked in and greeted the couple as they sat down to share a meal. The dinner went well, mostly everyone just telling stories from their respective villages and whatever trouble they got in. Eventually Hiniku brought out a bottle of wine from the Leaf Village as a gift. Gaara thanked them as Kiba opened it up. Hiniku poured the wine for all except for Hana and Kasumi.
"Mi amor? You don't want wine?" Asked Gaara, knowing full well she is a fan of wines, especially sweet ones.
"I already poured myself juice, but maybe next time." She said with a smile. Gaara tilted his head, not convinced by his wife. She sighed as she stood up to make an announcement.
"The reason I invited you guys here, is because I have a gift for Gaara which I wish for you all to see."
The guests looked at each other, neither one understanding what she meant. She pulled her phone out to record in Gaara's direction and grabbed the gift bag. He looked even more confused as to why she was going to all this trouble for a gift. It wasn't his birthday. God was it their anniversary?! No, wait, that already passed this year. Then what could it be?
Gaara grabbed the bag offered to him and slowly opened it. The first gift was a small candy bar called Baby Ruth. He had never heard of the candy but nevertheless set it on the table as he dug deeper in the bag. There was another candy, this time named "Baby Bottle Pop". Gaara froze, the gears working in his brain, albeit a bit slowly. He looked at his wife for reassurance. She smiled and urged him to look in the bag. Hiniku gasped as he connected the dots. Kiba was still confused while Kasumi just said "daddy just open it!"
His hands moved frantically to move the tissue paper away to show the last two gifts. A double set of bibs, one saying "prince" and the other saying "princess", and the final gift is of a see-through bag that has an ultrasound and a positive pregnancy test. Gaara stared at the picture, his hand shaking as he clinged on to the bibs, tears threatening to fall. He stood up and embraced his wife, happy tears poured down his cheeks as he kissed his wife. Kiba finally stood up when he realized.
"You're pregnant?!"
"Yay! I'm getting a baby brother!" Said Kasumi as she wiggled around in her seat. Hiniku congratulated them with his eyes tearing up too from the happy occasion.
"We're having a baby." Gaara whispered to his wife, lost in his happiness. She smiled as she looked up at him, ready to give him part two of the surprise.
"Babies, Gaara. We're having twins."
"TWINS?!" Yelled Gaara in happy confusion. He felt like his brain was fried as he ran to look at the ultrasound again. Sure enough, two little babies were there. Gaara slumped in his chair exhausted from the happy news. Kasumi fanned her father.
"It's okay daddy. I don't mind two baby brothers." She said while fanning him. The table laughed as Gaara was consoled by his child. Eventually he stood up and hugged Hana again, kissing her forehead and saying sweet nothings in her ear as he rubbed her belly softly. The night continued with light chatter, and Gaara smiling like an absolute idiot from the pure joy. Eventually Hiniku and Kiba left and Kasumi was put to bed, seeing as it was close to 10 o'clock. Hana went to her room to change when Gaara hugged her from behind. He kissed her shoulder as he turned her to face him. He knelt down and kissed her belly, cooing at his children.
"I'll see you soon my babies, and I'll protect you with every fiber of my being." He gave her belly a kiss before rising up to kiss her on the lips. And so night fell, the day rose, and new adventures for their family would continue from that day forward.
The End.
