Another Jalali?
"Wa wong!" The small toddler asked Ava making her immediately snap out of her trance as she looked at the confused little girl. "Mal do you recognize the little girl," Ava asked the small girl who looked at the picture as she pointed to Ava.
"No Mal that's not me. Anyone else you recognize," Ava asked the toddler who looked at the picture again as she remembered the blue haired girl that was hanging out with her big brother. "Ebie!" Mal screamed out making Ava nod as Mal had gotten it.
The little girl in the picture was Evie and she was sitting near a little boy with bleached white hair aka Carlos and an older girl that looked like her but she was clearly a few years older aka Ava.
It was clear it was meant to be a serious family photo, it was obvious that's not what it became though with Carlos pretending to give Evie bunny ears and Evie trying to do them back while Ava was trying to make them look at the camera, but she was laughing too.
Ava looked at the picture sadly as a tear slipped down. All the memories just started refilling her brain. After the incident Ava had lost all memories of her little sister and had even forgotten that she had another sister until now as suddenly she remembered everything including that day.
It all made sense now why she couldn't just kick Evie out. Evie was her long lost little sister that had been taken from them and even though her brain had made her forget everything deep down she knew.
Ava just quickly sat down as she just looked at the picture again just analyzing it. That had been the last full day that they would have with Evie, but they didn't know that at the time. It was Ava's fault though. She was supposed to be watching them, but she wasn't.
Ava had been around nine at the time and her parents were at work leaving her to babysit her three year old twin siblings. They didn't have a babysitter because they couldn't afford one, so Ava was on her own watching them.
The twins had begged her to take them to the park, but she was too busy sketching and didn't feel like taking them to the park. She should have just taken them because the twins had decided to go by themselves as they snuck out while Ava was drawing.
By the time Ava noticed the twins had been gone it was already too late as Evie had already been taken on the way to the park. That incident had been such a traumatic experience that Ava had completely blocked it from her mind along with any memory of her other sister and Carlos had been too little to actually remember her.
Their parents had tried to find her but eventually with no leads they gave up and Evie Jalali no longer existed from that point on.
Ava couldn't believe that Evie was actually alive and not just alive she had been in the dorm. No wonder she couldn't kick her out. It was like she was subconsciously remembering her sister even before she herself could remember.
Ava was brought out of her memories again when she felt something soft collide with her head making her look up to see the toddler that was upset as she had been trying to get her mama to pay attention to her, but Ava was too far into her memories to even notice.
Ava looked up just in time as she watched the purple bottle fly towards her and she managed to catch it before it could hit her. Ava just looked at the toddler in both shock and betrayal as she couldn't believe Mal would really try to throw her baby bottle at her.
Especially considering Ava was being nice and actually letting her still use the bottle when she really should just take it away and make her use a sippy cup. "Mal did you really just throw this at me," Ava asked the toddler in her stern voice wanting Mal to understand she was mad and didn't like what she did.
Mal just looked at Ava as she giggled and shook her head no. "No!" The small girl screamed out making Ava sigh in frustration as Mal was lying to her again.
"Yes you did I saw you," Ava told the small girl who just shook her head no again as she gave Ava a smile knowing she had Ava's attention again which is what she had wanted.
Ava just sighed again as she wanted Mal to just admit that she threw the bottle, but Mal didn't seem to be budging.
"Okay well then who did because it's just us here and I certainly didn't throw this at myself," Ava told the toddler wanting to give Mal a chance to admit it but again the toddler just wouldn't budge as she pointed to her stuffed dragon.
"Strawberry why you do da," the small girl asked her toy making Ava groan as she was getting sick of Mal just making up excuses and she wanted Mal to just tell the truth.
"Mal your stuffed dragon didn't throw your bottle at me," Ava told the toddler who just nodded as she pointed to the dragon toy again.
"Uh huh I tow hew no! See no wisen!" The small girl told Ava again, making her sigh in defeat as she knew Mal wasn't going to give into her.
Ava smiled though when she got another idea as she knew this would work as Mal wouldn't be able to resist.
"Okay well then tell strawberry it's her fault why you're not getting this bottle back," Ava told the toddler knowing this would break her, but instead Mal just started crying as she looked at her toy.
"Ba sawbewy! You ma me wose my baba! Ba Sawbewy! Ba!" The small girl screamed at her toy as she continued to blame her stuffed animal for throwing the bottle at Ava.
"Mal! Strawberry didn't throw the bottle stop yelling at your toy. I'm going to give you one more chance here. Did you throw the bottle at me? If you tell the truth I might just think about giving the bottle back, but you have to tell the truth Mal, so again did you throw the bottle," Ava asked the toddler just wanting Mal to finally admit she threw the bottle.
Before Mal had a chance to answer Ava a sound went off causing Ava to drop the bottle as she quickly ran to go check out the sound that sounded like her old jewelry box.
Mal just smiled in victory as she watched Ava run off as she picked up the bottle hugging it close to her and running back to her "room" with it.
"I wi!" The small two year old screamed out in victory as she had managed to get her bottle back without having to admit to Ava that she threw the bottle at her and getting in trouble.
While Mal was enjoying her victory Ava was trying to figure out where that sound was coming from. It was reminding her of her dad, but she didn't see anybody else in the dorm and she had looked around everywhere including Mal's "room" where she saw the toddler cuddling with her bottle and enjoying her victory.
Ava just rolled her eyes deciding she had other things to deal with right now and continued to look around. She even looked outside in hopes that maybe her father would be outside and she could see him again as she missed him despite all the wrong he had done to them by leaving.
Ava didn't want to think about her dad, but she just couldn't help it. She knew she should hate him for all he did. Stealing that money, getting the FBI to investigate them, giving up custody of Carlos and Mal, and even just completely erasing Evie from the family after she had been kidnapped at the age of 3. But for some reason Ava just couldn't hate him.
Especially when she thinks about all the good times she had with her father. Ava used to be a daddy's girl and she used to be super close with her father before he decided to go rogue and completely ruined the family.
Ava just sighed as she looked out her window in hopes of seeing her dad, but she just didn't see him. Instead she was just met with another flashback as she remembered her last good moment with her father.
Flashback
Ava nervously looked around as she observed BHU. She was on a college tour with her dad as it was her dream school, but she was pretty sure she was never going to get in. It was almost impossible for anyone to get in and right now her dad had done something horrible a few weeks ago and it was putting him under investigation with the FBI.
Ava wasn't even sure if she even wanted to go to college anymore with everything that was happening at home. BHU was her dream, but it was not only impossible to get into, but it was also so far away from home which meant she wouldn't be close to help out with Carlos and their new baby sister who was only a few days old at this point.
Noticing her nervousness her dad turned to her as he knew this was Ava's top choice and it had everything she loved, but he could tell she wasn't excited and in fact she looked worried which he didn't get as BHU had been the school Ava had been dying to get into ever since she had found out about it.
"This is the place for you Ava. There's no doubt about it," Ava's dad told Ava, trying to get her to smile and be excited as this was her dream school, but she wasn't acting like it. Ava just nodded as she continued to just nervously look around as she thought about Carlos and their newborn sister Mal.
She was dying to get into this school, but she couldn't just abandon her little siblings especially during a time like this where they really needed each other. "Yeah it's great," Ava practically whispered nervously as she was still worried even though she knew she should be excited to be touring her dream school.
"What's wrong I thought BHU was your top school," Ava's dad asked her as he just didn't get why she looked so scared and like she wanted to cry when she was touring her supposed dream college.
Ava just sighed as she looked at the college students that were all enjoying themselves in the student union as she just knew there was no way she would be like them. "Dad look around this is the 7%" Ava quickly told her dad making him look at her in confusion not understanding what she was saying.
"The what," Ava's dad asked her, making her sigh again as she hated saying it. "The acceptance rate is 7%" Ava told her dad sadly making him nod as Ava had known that already, so there had to be something else bothering her.
"But you knew that before we came and this was still your top choice," Ava's dad told her, making Ava sigh again as she had been trying to keep the other reasons secret, but it was obvious her dad was seeing right through her just like he always did.
"With everything going on and with the new baby maybe I should stay close to home, so I can help out with Carlos and Mal. Carlos still needs me and now with a new baby you're going to need even more help around the house. I just think it might be better to just go to school close to home," Ava told her dad as she was worried about her siblings and would happen to them if anything happened while she was away at college.
Her dad just laughed a little as he looked at Ava. "Ava it's just an investigation. Let's not let the FBI and their antics ruin this for you and besides you don't have to worry about Carlos and Mal. That's not your job Ava and they'll be perfectly fine. I promise you. There's nothing to worry about. You belong here far away from the mess I made. You are my beautiful dreamer and you deserve a fresh start," Ava's dad told her, making her smile as she knew her dad was right. She was worrying for nothing and everything would be fine.
Flashback Over
Ava couldn't believe how wrong she had been that day as just a few weeks later everything completely changed and their family was never the same again after that.
They are slowly starting to get back to how it was, but it would never be the same as it was obvious Carlos and Mal had been through some stuff that they weren't telling her and she still needed to get out of them and now she just found out that her long lost sister that she had blocked out in her mind is alive and hanging out with their brother right now.
Ava was completely brought out of her deep thoughts when the door opened and Carlos and Evie came back after walking Dude and just talking trying to get to know each other. Evie froze though when she saw the picture on the floor as she picked it up wanting to help and what she saw completely shocked her.
The picture was clearly an old family photo of Ava and Carlos, but what completely shocked her was the young blue haired toddler sitting next to the younger Carlos as Evie recognized that blue haired toddler right away. That was her.
