Chapter 25
I woke up to hear mumbling sounds coming from downstairs. I rub my eyes so then my eyes would feel more awake. And prepared for the world.
I sat up my bed and thought about nothing. I just sat there, listening to the mumbling and trying to make out what they were saying.
'It's probably the tv' I say to myself.
I felt like going to sleep but I decided I would need to eat at least. But Joci wouldn't be awake at this hour.
I looked at the time to see that it was 6 am. I went to bed earlier then I had to, so I can see why I woke up so early.
Yea, Joci wouldn't be awake by now, ever. But why is the tv on?
I turned my body so then my feet is dangling on the bed. I can just feel the cold carpet air rise up to my warm feet, but I'm not putting my feet anywhere yet. Not yet. I was listening more of the mumbling, it got louder. Like it was coming closer to me.
'Tv's can't move by themselves..obviously.' I think to myself. I went to go investigate and so far, I only felt my feet get colder and my blood slowly start moving down, from laying down for awhile. I slowly start walking to the door to be quiet, even though all around me wasn't quiet.
I slowly went to the door and felt the metal handle, it was cold, and a little rusty. I turned the doorknob slowly so then no noise can be heard. And as said, I didn't make any difference when I closed the door. Trying to be quiet as a mouse.
I peeked over to see Joci's bleached hair, her hair looked like a dirty blond now. Her hair isn't too long, not to short, about right. Nothing special about her hair either. Just a little wet, she probably took a shower.
And to no surprise, my eyes went to the flashing neon green light. The color was turning a little bit yellow, cause the dye was wearing off, but I think he'll fix that soon.
I figured it was Jack, Sean if u will. I can even hear they're voices now. His sturdy Irish accent and Joci's American accent. But then the humming voice of a angel comes in their conversation about.. whatever.
The voice that can make your heart warm up especially when you need it. Shoutout to you Mark.
I start to walk downstairs slowly to be quiet, but quickly so then I can save my feet from getting any colder. Joci and Jacks faces were hid, they were facing the wrong direction of me. I only saw the back of their heads.
Mark was the one that was in front of them, and I can see his face. Mark was leaning against a counter while Joci and Jack were standing next to each other. Not in a love way, of course.
I can see they're hands and arms move while they're talking. They seem to have a real conversation about something that I sense to know about.
While I was about on my 5th step Mark noticed me, and stopped talking. I notice his eyes follow as I go. Joci and Jack seemed to notice too, because they turned their heads to me and I felt the spotlight hit my face.
"What are you guys talking about?" I ask, slopping on the couch.
"Easter." Jocilyn says.
My mouth dropped open. How could I forget?!
"EASTER EGG HUNTS???" I ask Joci.
Me and Joci would always have Easter egg hunts. No matter how old we are now, even. It seems dumb, and we need to have our own jobs and lives. But I always loved to have chances to be my inner kid self. Like I was years ago. Dang, when I was a kid..
"Easter egg hunts." Mark repeats.
I felt like jumping up and down and hugging everything I see. I wasn't usually like this, but because now I'm friends with Mark and Sean..
We're gonna need extra Easter eggs.
"I can help!!!! ILL BUY THE EASTER EGGS!" I said, almost about ready to go.
"Whoa, whoa. Joci already got some." I look at Mark. Then made a pouty face.
"How many eggs?" I ask. Jocilyn looks at a target bag then says, "2 times as much as we usually get." I nod at her even though her eyes were still inside the bag.
We would usually get at least 4 packs, which they all had 6. And if you know ur addition, (or multiplication) then it would be 24. But she said two times as that so 24 times 2 which you can't do in your head unless ur a math genius.
4 times 2 is 8 then the 2 times 2 which was 4 which that's 48. So we should have 48 Easter eggs.
I'm smert
Anyways, as I was saying, we should have 48 Easter eggs in total. And-wait- how many packs did she buy then. Well, let's find out.
(I'm evil MWAHAHAHAHA)
Well, the way to find THAT out. You would need division. Long division, really. (I'm not explaining this one, u skip or u try it out yourself.)
So she bought 8. Huh, who knew I passed 2nd-4th grade standards.
Hooray. I can do math..
"So, you have 8 packets then." I ask, Jocilyn nods her head while she walks back to Mark and Jack.
I decided to get my couch potato self off the couch and actually walk over there.
"WOOP! LES DO THIS!" I yell, running for her bag that has the target logo on it, "I already have ideas to put in the eggs, and don't even think that I'm going to put money in there." I hear everyone 'awww' which made me laugh, so as everyone else in the room.
We all go to our separate ways, because we don't want them to find out what we put inside the eggs, and we each get 2 Easter egg packs she bought. Cause if you know your math- I'll stop.
I first thought to just go in my room, because a lot of the things I need are in my room. open the package while walking upstairs to my room, and some fell out of the package while I was walking upstairs, which made the plastic eggs go in between the stairs-like Marks stair case-which I have to walk back down and search for all my eggs.
"Why does life have to be harrdddd???" I groan.
I got all the Easter eggs which didn't take long. And went to my room. I loooked around the room for some materials and then spotted the glitter I use for my crafting stuff. I needed it for my old work, but I kept it just in case I wanted to craft randomly.
I sat on my chair and started to work. I poured the glitter inside the eggs, about 3 or 4 eggs I put glitter inside. Then, I put some candy inside, ya know, like m&m's. 4 eggs had m&m's in it and 4 eggs had glitter. I thought for a minuet and looked more around the room to see if I'd come up with anything else. The only thing that came into my mind was prank stuff. So I poured water into one egg. And I made sure that it wouldn't leak or anything, and that I wouldn't pick out the egg with water inside it.
I also put confetti and other candy inside the rest of the eggs, cause I didn't know what else to put inside the eggs.
After when I was done I took all of my eggs and started walking out the door. I went down stairs to be greeted by Joci. I look around, to see if Mark or Jack were done.
Which I don't think they were.
"Are Jack and Mark done?" I ask Joci. She shook her head no.
"No. I was the first one out." She shrugged.
I decided to sit on the couch and maybe watch some boring grandpa stuff, like the news. But that's too boring. So I just (do whatever u do on ur free time on ur phones).
Once when time passed by like a snail traveling from the United States to Texas, I hear footsteps from them both. I look up from my phone and see 2 boys with their eggs. I felt so excited that this Easter is going to be different, because now I'm with my favorite people now.
"Ok. We will set up our own eggs. But I go first." I say, looking around.
"NUH-UHHHHH IM GOIN FIRST!" Jack complains.
"U WANNA GOOO??" I ask playfully.
"YEA I WANNA GO!!" Jack answers back.
I put my fists up like in those boxer show things, "LES GO THEN!"
He puts his fists up too, "YEA LES DO THIS!"
We were circling around but still was facing each other. Joci was laughing and I was trying to hold my laugh back.
We kept this process until nothing happened for 10 seconds. And I started laughing and so did everyone else.
"Best boxer match ever." Mark laughs, sarcastically clapping.
"Yea, it was so intense I couldn't tell who was gonna win." Joci adds, sarcastically.
"Thank you, but I think I win this round." Jack says, with pride.
"Ughhh, fine. The girls will let the boys go first, cause girls are more polite." I flip my hair and turned around to walk to Joci.
My hair hit Jacks face which made Mark and Joci laugh.
"Your hair smells nice." Jack says before he starts running upstairs to find spots for the eggs.
"THANK YOU!" I yell to him.
I shake my head at him and looked at Joci.
She was talking to Mark.
Don't know if I want to interrupt their conversation.
After like 4 minuets or so Jack came running back from downstairs. His socks were slippery so when he got to the last step to the downstairs floor he slid, cause he was sprinting, and crashed into furniture which made Mark and Joci jump from the loud noise of furniture hitting the wooden floor.
"OWWWWW FFFFFF-*beeeeeeeep XD*" Jack yells out of his lungs.
"SORRY!" He puts everything that fell back to its regular spot.
Everyone laughs, but Jack just smiles. He's probably not laughing because he's in pain of him crashing against hard furniture.
"Okay," I start, "since Jack is done with the upstairs, Mark can go up there and place his eggs while Jack puts his eggs downstairs."
"What about you and Joci? I'm not letting you guys see where I place my eggs." Jack asks.
"We could just get snacks..?" Joci suggested.
"We always get snacks. We're practically swimming in them." I say, being half serious.
"True, but there's no such thing as too much food." Joci was getting her rented car keys from the kitchen counter-because she lives over where I do-
(remember? It took u 4 or something hours to get to the panel. And the hotel is where Jack and Mark are staying.)
"Maybe that is true, but we could just go for a walk. Because from us eating so many snacks, we probably need it."
"Okay, you win." She puts her hands up to surrender.
I fist pump the air while Joci throws the keys back on the counter. She takes off her slim coat, cause it's really hot out, and sets it down on the couches arm.
"Having a little girl time I see?" Mark says, starting to walk upstairs.
"Yep!"
"Well, for about a few minuets." Joci says, not sounding excited.
"Maybe we can go to McDonald's play land!" I clap my hands.
"Ok I'm in."
All of us give a small laugh.
Me and my fellow friend started walking to the door. The door wasn't too far away from where we were standing a few seconds ago, but it seemed forever to take one step.
"Ok, I'll text you when we're done!" Jack waves both of his arms to wave goodbye.
I walk out of the room and wave back before Joci closes the door. I stop waving as I heard a soft *click* from the door lock closing.
"So, now what." Joci folds her arms.
"Wellllllllll we could just walk around the place. I never really gotten to adventure around, but you have." Joci nods in agreement.
"From getting all your food."
"It's your food too!" I shot back.
"Maybe, but at least I don't eat McDonald's chicken nuggets every day." My mouth drops open a few centimeters.
"Your joking, right?"
"Yes, I am actually." I smile at our pointless "fight"-Or should I say competition-either one I'd be fine with.
We got out of the apartment building and I looked around the place. In the last few days it's been warm. Which I'm glad for.
I took a deep breath, sucking in the air. Tree leaves started growing on the branches. It was actually pretty to look at. If I only brought my phone, and if there wasn't this many people around, then I'd take photos.
"When I was driving to Starbucks I saw a mini park. Maybe we could go there? It's not far." I look at Joci to give her a signal that I'm paying attention to her words.
"Sure, I'd like to be a kid again." I shrug.
We started jogging our way there, only because we don't have much time. Maybe only 8 or 10 minuets. Can't predict the future though.
Once when we got there, there were already adults looking out for their kids play on the toys. People were walking on the sidewalk, it was a pretty day. It was spring, and that's when everything gathers up its leaves and peddles!
"What are we waiting for?" Joci went full speed to the toys and started climbing, "LES PLAIWH!"
"LETS WHAAATT?" I ask, catching up.
"LETS PLAY!" She was upside down on the monkey bars.
"Um that's dangerous."
She looks at me upside down once when I was face to face with her, "do you think that would stop me from doing this?"
"Um, maybe?"
"No." She started swinging herself around.
"I'm just looking out for you." I started to walk to the bench, even though I was tempted to do the same as Joci.
"Okay mom."
"Okey mum." I repeat, but more annoying.
After 1 minuet has passed I decided to do something. Joci left the monkey bars and went to the swings instead. I walked up to the swings and sat on the swing next to her. I started to swing my legs forward and backward, trying to get as high-or higher- than Joci.
"Finally you do something around here."
"Well sorry for being the adult I am."
"You not a adult, your just pretending to be one." I think for a moment, wondering if that's really true.
"Well-yeah..." I dropped to guilty.
My phone started going off which made me jump a small bit. I stop my swing to answer whoever was calling,
"This is your captain speaking," I giggle. I heard a laugh that I recognized off the bat.
"Captian, We're done with the egg placin. You are now allowed to come home," Jack says, trying to sound like a robot of some sort.
"Alreadyyyy??" I groan, Joci was starting to drag her feet on the ground to stop her swing.
"Yes, I may have helped Mark," He made a 'evil' laugh.
"Cheater,"
"When was that in the rule book?"
We both laugh some and now Joci's swing has fully stopped. She was looking at my facial expressions and seeing what I was talking about. The call wasn't on speaker, so she couldn't hear.
"Well, I'll cya in a little, we didn't go far," I took a glance at Joci to show that we're leaving.
"Alright, we'll go out of the apartment while u plant ur eggs somewhere."
"K byeee!"
"Byeee!" Jack said back.
"Love you!" I ended the call and realized what I just said.
"Did I just say what I think I just said..?" I worry.
"Ok, wait, wait, WAIT!" Joci got up from her swing.
She shot up from the seat and then looked at me. I bet she's wondering what and who I was talking to/about.
"Who were you talking to?" I got up from my swing too.
"I was talking to Jack and he said that he was-"
"HAHAHAHHA! AND YOU TOLD HIM THAT U LIKED HIM!!" She laughed some more while I slumped.
"For your information, I said that I LOVED him, which I think is worse. And also, he said that Mark and him were done with the eggs, so we can go home,"
Joci smiled when I mentioned Marks name..
"You still finally confessed your love, I'm proud." She slapped my back like I won a trophy or some sort.
I mumbled under my breath and just started walking without saying another word. Hopefully she doesn't say anything like that in front of Jack. Actually, hopefully doesn't think that I like him- well. It's sort of too late for that... never mind.
We got to the apartment building to Mark/Jacks room. I knock on the door and soon enough, Mark opens it.
"AYYYEEEEE!" I almost yell, walking inside like a total gangster.
"I already see an egg!" Joci points to somewhere around the room.
"SHHHH! U saw nothing." Mark shushes Joci.
I look around the room to see if Jack was anywhere. I didn't see him BUT I heard footsteps. And sure enough, it was Jack coming from upstairs.
"Your always upstairs," I point out.
"Yyyyyyep!" He got to the last step and jumped down to the floor that belonged to the downstairs.
"Well.......SHEW! SHEW!" I started shewing them both, moving my hands.
"We need to place our eggs," they were slowly walking to the door as I shew them.
"Okay, okay we're leaving.. BYE JOCILYNNNN!" He physically waves at her and not me.
Total love birds.
"BAIIII!" She waves back.
Mark opens the door and started walking away. Jack was doing the same but then he stopped his steps. He looked back at me and we made eye contact.
"One more thing." I was waiting for him to say his words.
"Love ya too."
