For days straight, Jeonghan doesn't see, call or text Chaeyeon. She's the type who sees clearly into things and he knows she can sense the message he's giving her. And once he doesn't answer her call for the 20th time, he knows she's gonna barge in his apartment soon.

By 3PM that day, he opens his door to an upset looking Chaeyeon who comes in without being invited. She paces her way to his living room and slumps on the mattress like an angry mistress.

“Why aren’t you calling me anymore? Why aren’t you seeing me oppa?” she asks.

He walks in too, but he doesn’t reply. He directly walks to the kitchen and have his back on her. He doesn’t want to see her pained state.

“Is this some kind of play? Do you want to play a game with me?” she’s sounding dramatic now.

She sees his phone and what shocks her is that, his wallpaper is some other girl. The exact same girl she’s suspecting he’s cheating away from her. That lovely girl she actually envies. And what shatters her heart is the fact that he’s actually beside her on the picture.

“Who’s this girl?” she asks very upset.

He turns to face her now and he readying to tell her, but she finds it herself. It’s going better for him. It’ll be easier to add the facts now. He gets the phone away from her and she’s teary-eyed staring at him now.

“Chaeyeon, let’s end this,” he starts.

“What? What are we to end?” she’s in hysteria.

“Us. This relationship,” he calmly states. “I’m seeing someone else.”

It makes her mad and she starts screaming at him, “You’re replacing me with some random girl you met at the campus? How easy of her!”

Jeonghan doesn’t like the way she’s talking about Seunghee, but he doesn’t want to hurt her even more. So he stays silent.

“Did she use her pretty face to lure you in? Guess she had plenty of tricks up her sleeves that you got caught in her trap. That witch! Now you’re breaking up with me just because she told you so? Wake up oppa!”

He wants to just let her be, but he can’t let her defame Seunghee like this.

“She didn’t do anything. I was the one who fell for her. I was the one who went after her,” he says straight at her face.

Chaeyeon can’t handle the humiliation. It all roots from the start where she was that one who first approached him. She was actually the one who worked her way up to his heart. It’s pitiful, now that she remembers it, cuz now this girl has taken all of him from her in just a blink of an eye. And him saying that he is the one who went after her, is just demoralizing her even more.

“Are you saying you never fell for me?” she courageously asks.

He doesn’t want to answer. She better not hear his words.

“Tell me!! Did you never fall for me?!” she’s hysterical as tears fall down her cheeks. The pain is slowly eating her whole.

“You should go now Chaeyeon,” he pauses and adds, “And thank you for everything.”

Sweet words even on their very last while together, it’s like piercing her heart in slow motion. How can he do this to her? He turns her back on him and walks to the door for her to go. But she halts him.

“Oppa… oppa…” Chaeyeon cries helplessly as she tugs pitifully at his shirt. “Please, don’t leave me…”

He doesn’t want to see her like this. But he can’t not be with Seunghee any longer than this. He has to end things with her now. so he gathers his guts to tell her straight what is really is between them from the start.

“Chaeyeon, I’ll do you a favor and answer your question,” he pauses and sighs, “I never did fall in love with you. Not even once. So please go now.”

She doesn’t know how to cope up with it. But hearing something like this from the person you thought valued you the same is just unbearable. But it’s true. He never once told her he loves her. It all adds up now, how he treated her nice but felt empty. She still feels strongly for him, but what can she do when he’s the one who tells her bluntly that he never felt the same from the beginning.

“You’re cruel oppa. I hate you. I hate you!” she screams as she storms out of the room.

Jeonghan can feel the pain too. She was once the only girl he tried to devote his time to. Though he knew from the start that he doesn’t really love her, she was only a person he valued more special than anyone else. But there’s no other way for him now. Now that he found the one girl he knows he can never replace. He feels sorry for Chaeyeon, but right now, Seunghee comes first before anyone. And Seunghee is the only one for him.

He calls Seunghee a little later and tells her about it. He looks up at the stars, twinkling brightly in the sky, while standing by the porch of his room.

“I told Chaeyeon just earlier today. We broke up. The only one left is your boyfriend. Do you want or need to be there? Just tell me to.”

-‘No, I can handle this. I’ll call you later okay?’- she answers.

“Alright. I love you, good night,” he puts the phone down and now he can finally feel free.

-‘I love you, good night,’- Seunghee hasn’t even replied but Jeonghan has already cut the line.

She feels lightweight, she hears it from him for the very first time. The words she wants to tell him too. She feels like seeing him right then and now, but sitting in her living room is the most crucial person she has to face yet.

She’s inside the room while Yuta is enjoying his time watching his fave anime and is waiting for her to come back.

“Seunghee-ya! What’s taking so you long?” he shouts.

“I’ll be right there!” she replies. But before she goes back to him, she holds her phone close to her chest and tightly closes her eyes. She wishes for this to end. She doesn’t want to continue deceiving him. Her conscience is tormenting her. But she pulls off her usual self to face him. She walks to where he is and sits beside him, though with a distance from him.

“Who was it?” he asks because she ran to her room at the sound of it ringing a while ago.

“Ah, just a colleague, asking for something about the project,” she lies.

“Alright,” he moves next to her closing the gap between them. “Come on, it’s starting.”

“Yah.”

She’s acting a little different from how she used to and he can feel that. In the midst of watching, he takes glances at her. He knows she’s hiding something from him. And he clearly knows it’s about a boy. Now he’s sure it’s about that boy. But he keeps his silence till she tells him herself.
