7: Barbie Girl
If there is anything that has been going crazy lately, it's the people around us.
I never expected that 4th Year will be this hectic yet fun. Yes, requirements and reporting are given but it isn't as stressful as they are to me.
We are on the third leg of 1st quarter and the subjects are getting even more interesting. 1st quarterly exams are fast approaching and I couldn't wait for the succeeding months to come.
School activities are also expected after our second quarterly exams such as the school fair, retreat and pretty soon, our Junior-Senior Promenade and Graduation Day.
We couldn't be more ecstatic than ever!
Nakatulong na rin siguro ang paggagawa ko agad ng mga ito sa libreng oras ko kaya hindi ako nagkacramming katulad ng mga kaibigan namin ni Noxie.
Speaking of, Nox was busy with our Physics assignment and I could only shake my head at how engrossed he was. We are currently having lunch here at the canteen and he is sitting right across me.
Even with the noise of the students at the background, hindi siya nagpatinag and became even more determined to finish one of our homeworks today.
"Need help?" I asked and he lifted his eyes to meet mine.
"Kaya ko to!" He declared and I chuckled at him. "Check mo mamaya kung tama sagot ko ha? Ngayon, sit back and relax." He returned his attention on our assignment.
Our topic this time is about projectile motion which is one of my favorites, so far. Kaya malakas ang loob kong magvolunteer na tulungan siya sa assignment.
If there is one thing I admire about Noxie, it is how he is eager to finish the necessary paperworks before weekend even came.
Kung ibang tao, siguro iisipin na ang atat masyadong magSabado pero in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with looking forward for the weekend to be able to rest up.
After all, we deserve a break, right?
"Ayon! Sa wakas!" Noxie exclaimed and raised both his arms in triumph as soon as he was able to finish our homework. He turned to me and smirked proudly, "oh, di ba! Sabi ko sa'yo, matatapos ko eto agad eh! Dali, dali! Check mo na!"
I chortled when he practically shove his notebook on my desk just for me to check his answers.
Yes, that's how excited he is.
I scanned through the items one to five and computed mentally and no doubt, he is indeed right.
I returned the notebook back at him with a sad expression on my face. I saw him gulped in disappointment when I became silent suddenly.
"Naks naman! Talino yan!" I broke our silence and he sighed in relief.
"Ces naman eh!" Nox complained and scratched his nape shyly. He pretended to be modest but his dimples started showing and I knew that he's even more proud of himself. "Hindi nga? Tama ang formula ko?"
I nodded and gave him two thumbs up. His smile widened and he said instantly, "dahil dyan, wait here."
My brows furrowed when he stood up suddenly and went to the counter. I guess, he's buying food again.
Masyado yata siyang nagutom sa kaka-solve kanina. I thought to myself and giggled.
I continued eating the last pieces of spaghetti on my fork and took a sip of my Zesto Orange.
I began to gaze outside the canteen's window and smiled to myself when I saw our school varsity players taking their routines at the covered court.
"Hi, Ces!" Their power forward, Hans Garcia, waved at me. I waved back and he returned to do his sprints with his teammates.
I saw some of his teammates punched him lightly on the shoulder and teased him when they were running away from the corner of the covered court.
Suddenly, out of the blue, a song from Aqua played from somewhere.
The varsity team started dancing to the tune of Barbie Girl.
I'm a blond bimbo girl in a fantasy world
Dress me up, make it tight, I'm your dolly
Even those who were just taking a quick nap on some benches around the campus woke up and went to see what was happening.
Then, Nox sat beside me and placed a Hersheys Milk Chocolate on my desk. I gave him a grateful smile but my attention was caught by Hans Garcia with Edison Julio, their point guard, wooed the crowd with their dancing skills.
"Sus. Mga papansin!" Nox mumbled beside me with a bored and unimpressed look on his face. I just gave him a giggle and watched them perform from the canteen's window.
Come on, Barbie, let's go party (ah ah ah yeah)
Come on, Barbie, let's go party (ooh oh, ooh oh)
"Please watch our game this weekend as we fight against Yellow Hollers. Maraming salamat po!" Hans spoke over the microphone and together with his teammates, bowed at the audience.
The students cheered at the mention of their upcoming national games with other schools.
So, that's how they encourage and invite everyone to cheer for them.
Real nice and witty.
Just then, the school bell rang signaling the start of the next class.
As if nothing special happened, students went to their respective classrooms and the lectures resumed.
