Rainier slung her bat over her shoulder. Tossing a glance behind her, she shouted, "THEO! GET OUT HERE, YA WEIRDO!"

After a moment, she saw him appear from around the corner. Tall bastard was hunched over, spindly fingers twitching across his rifle like he was hoping some more targets would stumble into his sightlines. He stopped in front of her and began, "I'd tell you to quiet down, but..."

They shared equally bloodthirsty grins. "No reason for that," she finished happily. "Not like there's anything that can take us."

"Wanna bet?" a voice asked from behind her. She whirled around, swinging her bat at the sound, but all she hit was air.

Incensed (and, okay, a little excited), Rainier bared her teeth. "Are you daft? No, wait, don't answer that."

There were four people standing behind her. Each of them was holding at least one firearm, plus the various other weaponry that they all had strapped to their persons. They were all practically walking armories, much like herself. She had to respect it.

Although she wondered how Theo had missed them; they couldn't have been that quiet, not with all of those guns and grenades and such. And he was supposed to be the deadeye. She tightened her grip on her bat and wondered why they hadn't shot her the moment she'd taken that swing.

Her confusion must have shown on her face, because one of them spoke up. He had a striped newsboy hat, a black jacket, and a fierce expression. "Much as I'd like to fill your skull with lead-"

"Dan!" another one said sharply. Her eyes snapped to a man standing off to the side; this one was wearing a broad headband to keep his fluffy silver hair away from his face. "Would you quit threatening people we're trying to ally with?"

Rainier raised an eyebrow. That was... strange. She felt Theo shifting behind her, uncomfortable yet too intrigued to leave. She decided to stay silent, leaving them to explain themselves.

This would be interesting.
