Unknown and Instinct
A/N: These are temporary names. I might change one or both of them.
Unknown glanced down at the spidery little creature at its feet. She was hopping up and down, trying to get its attention. It clasped its hands in front of its stomach and waited for what she had to say.
Instinct let out a chittering sound, quickly scampering up its side. She had a habit of doing that, it had noticed. It held out its arm and allowed her to crawl onto it, so they could communicate better.
They didn't usually speak. Instinct had never properly learned how, and Unknown hated the sound of its own voice. So instead, they communicated with gestures and body language.
Right now, she was excited, brimming with energy. Unknown immediately connected the dots. The only thing she got that excited for was hunting.
As it came to that conclusion, Instinct whipped around and pointed down into the forest. Unknown followed the gesture with its eyes. It didn't have her taste for life, her incredible hearing, or her sense of smell, but even it could see the movement in the leaves.
Something big was lurking there. Something huge. Almost as tall as Unknown itself, if it reached the tops of the trees.
It understood now. Normally, Instinct was a solitary hunter. But she wanted assistance in taking... whatever that was down. Unknown shifted its gaze back to her and tilted its head. It was willing to help, but how?
The cryptid waved a hand dismissively, as if to say, You'll know it when you see it. Then she leapt into a tree, leaving it to follow her as gracefully as it could.
As they traveled through the forest, Unknown wondered what it had gotten itself into.
