nineteen
Sohee sat quietly at her desk as everyone whispered among themselves as she bit her lip nervously as she tried to ignore the rest of the people around her. Of course, that was physically impossible as she felt everyone's eyes heavily jabbing at her actions and whatever she did. She kept her head down as the class started to quiet down since the teacher entered into the class.
In the hallways, everyone whispered among themselves as she made her way towards the locker. She knew that people would stare at her no matter what from the rumors that spread around. Sanha was sitting across from her as they were both to not speak to one another as Donghyuck quietly slipped his hand through hers as he made his way to comfort her. No one ever knew their relationship, but she didn't mind at the moment since she really wanted to find some comfort from all this attention.
That was how she felt right now at this moment when everyone rolled their eyes at her when she took a step inside the classroom. She knew she needed to stay at the hospital, but the more she kept staring at the window from her bed, she couldn't really do anything. She remembered each word being spat at her as she had no one next to her. Not even Donghyuck was there to protect her from the dangerous world all around. Someone called her name gently as she was sitting outside in the soccer field.
Sihyeon handed her a small cup of apple juice as she smiled softly, "Drink something.. I am well-aware of your health condition..you need to continue to hydrate yourself."
Sohee thanked her quietly as she took a small sip before she quietly stared out towards the field. "My job is to protect you and the other students from any harm that you guys might have gone through. But I was wondering why you were standing at the edge that day, just in case any reporters try and bug you about it."
There was a moment of silence as Sihyeon patiently waited for the student to reply back. The birds chirped sadly against the wind as the sun was barely shining through the dark clouds. Her mind was as stormy as the weather was turning as Sohee replied weakly, "Sanha was in my mind the whole time..ever since he left. I wanted to stop hearing him...even for a quick second...I ended up on the rooftop where it was the least bothersome...and then I saw him jump off....that's when I thought that it might be easier for me to do that... I couldn't protect my own baby.."
She kept her head low as she spoke since she felt the guiltiness growing inside her chest as Sihyeon knew immediately to what she was referring to. She gave a nod before asking a different question, "Do you want to confess?"
"I already did...don't tell the school please."
"I won't."
Sihyeon knew that her job would be more difficult to keep as the students are more young and soft-hearted than the adults who ran the school. She knew that she would find some excuse to convince the school to not press other charges to Sohee when they ever found out later. She reached her hand out carefully before taking Sohee's hands into her own as she also wiped down the tears that were falling down the younger's face. "You did a good job...it must have been so hard."
Taehyung and Sihyeon were both at the same university for when they got in together. He would always bump into her outside the campus as she was mostly always late to arriving on time. They were both taking the same classes together, and he would always it interesting that she would arrive to the classroom about a minute later with her hair barely tied up and her clothes all wrinkled up from running.
Sihyeon found it interesting that Taehyung would always nitpick at each of the professor's comment before he was suspended to not speak unless it was for important questions. It worked as most students disagreed with the professor as they rather preferred Taehyung respond to the questions rather than themselves. For four years straight, they had the same classes as they had similar goals to enter into the criminal field. Sihyeon would walk into the library to find Taehyung greeting her subtly before focusing back on her work.
She remembered that he was a cold, blunt fellow who disliked having conversations with people he barely met. She would also run into him a few times when they went to the cafe after class. After they kept bumping into each other, she got the courage to introduce herself properly to him, before getting rejected of actually being friends.
"I'm Kim Sihyeon. What's your name?"
"Kim Taehyung."
"What are you studying currently?"
"Why?"
That's how their conversation started and ended right away as Sihyeon despised people of that character. However, Taehyung soon came along since they had group projects together and she would find the courage to work with him as well since he was kind of desperate for a partner to work with since no one would actually work with him. She got used to his blunt, annoying personality as he soon started to like her without even him noticing. He started to open up a little more and was a lot more clingier than expected.
She knew that he had feelings for her, but she never really wanted to pursue anything since she wasn't interested. She had goals on her own, and no one could really stop her from going after it. That's basically what Taehyung really looked for when he wanted to date. A woman who knew what she wanted, and basically never gave up even in the name of love. He got rejected a few times as he tried to ask her out, and it always failed since she would decline his offer for a movie or dinner.
That's how it was, and it was still like that as Taehyung would sometimes fall in the same case as Sihyeon. But, she rather was not looking into someone like Taehyung but wanted someone who would support her warmly without always chiming in their own thoughts. It was quite difficult for someone to be dating Taehyung with his straightforward personality.
Gyuri waited outside the station as she felt bad immediately as she didn't want to request him to drop off her clothes, but Yohan came running to see her without any hesitation. She apologized over and over again as he approached her, "I'm so sorry for calling you out so late...I really didn't want you to-"
"Stop noona, you kept saying that ever since I left the house."
He handed her a small bag with some necessities for her to wash up properly since she couldn't go home. He also packed her some dinner and midnight snacks that she can enjoy so that she wouldn't feel too hungry. He knew how she acted when she didn't get any sleep or food inside her system. The moon was shining brightly despite the dark clouds trying to cover it. "You always help me on the darkest part of the night..are you supposed to be a knight?"
Yohan winked teasingly before he replied back with a deep tone, "Maybe I am~"
"It was a joke, gosh you are so cheesy Yohan."
She shook her head with a groan as he laughed quietly under his breathe as he found her quite adorable. Gyuri thanked him with a smile before she turned around to walk back inside. But he soon stopped her as he cried out, "Noona, let me take you on a date on your day off."
Gyuri blinked quietly as she turned her head to face the younger as she thought he was joking. He wasn't. He then waited a minute before repeating his statement with a much louder, confident voice, "Go on a date with me. I really want to take you out for a date."
Gyuri was at a loss of words since she really didn't know how to react since she never thought of Yohan liking her more than the friends that they are. She seriously was not aware of how he felt, despite how obvious the latter was about his feelings towards her. She nervously bit her lip to think of an excuse since she really didn't want to hurt his feelings but someone interrupted the conversation quickly before she can answer, "I'm afraid she'll be busy with work for the time being."
Four eyes turn towards the direction of the voice, which was Gyuri's nightmare as she angrily knit her eyebrows together as Taehyung appeared out of nowhere from the bushes in front of the police station. He scoffed with an annoying smirk soon following after as he made his way slowly over to the pair as Yohan confusingly stared at him. Taehyung's awfully mocking facial expression made Gyuri want to push the eyes out of his sockets as Taehyung then repeated himself once more confirmation, "She'll be quite busy throughout the weeks as we have a big case to work on. She knows that I despise working with distractions. So, you might have to wait a longgg time before you can get your date."
Taehyung rested his arm against Gyuri's shoulder as she pushed his arm off gently in protest as Yohan blinked to find himself recollecting his thoughts as the death staring contest took place between Gyuri and Taehyung.
