Chapter 5
I was about to walk out until...
One of the beasts obstructed my path. It had the most purest fur I had ever seen. White. Even the snow that I grew up seeing wasn't as pure as this animal. It was as if the animal was a blessing from god himself, but I can never be sure of that, as I thought he had left my side years ago. Was this another one of his trials to hardship, or was this a gift. I would never be sure of what it was.
I brushed the thought aside as soon as I saw the animal advancing forward in my direction. I tensed up not knowing if it was going to bite me, or let me pet that fur(that I have been urging to touch). It brushed past my leg slightly purring as my hand reached down behind its ears stroking it. The animal was of no harm. It wanted company.
A loud rumble came from something that was quite close to my ear. I knew exactly what it was. The stomach of a mammal. Indeed, it was Haru.I looked up to see tints of red brushed across his cheeks, as if he was embarrassed by his sudden action. Laughing at the boy I rose from my spot, and again proceeded to go out the cave, seeing if I could find some herbs to make into a stew (or something similar) as it was the only thing that I was taught to make.
After what felt like hours of physical labor, I had managed to collect a few ingredients up; which I knew was safe and not poisonous. I returned back to the spot that was just outside the cave, just to see Haru and all the others animals (which I am considering giving names to) around a camp fire. It looked just like a scene out of a book. I wish that it could stay like this forever, but I knew that animals nor us humans have a long life. I had learnt it from experiences that I had to face in the past.
