Chapter 2
Scrambling one by one on the rocky creek, I followed Haru behind. We never did go back to that place. It brought too many bad memories from our past.
How come it didn't take our lives as well? My mind was confused. Thoughts were clashing into one another not allowing me any time to think. Haru suddenly stopped in front of me, not allowing me time to brake, falling straight into him. He chuckled. The first time in forever he chuckled and it was contagious.
The tense atmosphere around us was gone, as it seemed like we forgot what had just happened to us just hours before. I wondered what Haru stopped for anyway. I raised my head up above Haru's shoulder, just to be bewildered by the site before me; it was amazing. Never in a million years would I think that this view would be just outside of the village (but then again I never left the village). Trees that seemed to be stopped in time in its most beautiful season, were dancing in the wind as if they were saying hello to us. Animals of different species pranced around with one another as if the world was really peaceful. My whole body and mind felt relaxed at the site, as if my soul was being purified of the dread and hatred that resided within me.
I felt a tug at the bottom of my teared jeans. Reeling my head down I looked upon a fawn that seemed to be beckoning me and Haru into this paradise, but I was too afraid. I was too afraid on if something would go wrong. Too afraid on what happened to my home, would happen to theirs. I felt my eyes starting to swell with what seemed to be like more tears. I felt weak, useless, fragile and broken.
