The bruise across Tails's ribs was a dark mix of red and spots of purple. Vibrant against his pale skin. It hurt so badly, making it hard to breathe.

"Shit..." Sonic mumbled under his breath, immediately wincing at just the sight of it. "It's alright, it should... heal."

"That's not... helping..." Tails managed to gasp out.

Sonic nodded, pulling Tails' sweater back over his head. "Let's go get Maddie, okay? Would that be okay?" Tails choked back a sob of pain and nodded.

He picked his brother up, flinching at his brother's small cry.
