Day 1 - Broken Bones - Silver the Hedgehog (AU1)
(A/N, Silver is genderfluid in this AU, that's why the pronouns switch)
"She's not dangerous- she's not!" Silver shouted, standing in front of Blaze. A barrier between her and the survivors.
Diana's hands twitched, her breathing rapid as she narrowed her eyes. "Silver- Silver, listen to me!" She ordered. "Whatever this thing is, she's a detriment to our survival!"
Blaze flinched, inching farther from the group. It wasn't as if she'd chosen to be here. Away from her own dimension and trapped in the hellscape that was the Chaos Dimension.
But Silver refused to back down, the weapons on the walls shaking as his temper raised. "Are you serious!? She's one of the only reasons we've survived out here!"
"We've survived long enough without her!" Diana scoffed in enraged dismissal.
The feline glanced at the other survivors, who seemed more uncomfortable with the confrontation than anything. "I can leave-"
"Blaze. No. You can't stay out there alone, it's too dangerous." Silver shook their head. "I'm done with them all, I can go with you."
A mortified silence overtook the rest of the survivors before they began murmuring amongst themselves. Silver knew why- she'd been the rock that kept them all stable since she got here. Her powers had been the best help they'd ever gotten.
But now, Silver was doing this. Taking the side of Blaze, who'd mysteriously appeared with no explanation. He trusted them more than them.
Diana's teeth gritted in horror, her eyes widening at Silver's change of alignment. "It's not safe. You don't dare-"
"And if I do?" Silver's voice was deadly and quiet.
The Lioness shrieked in some mix of anger and terror. She suddenly reached for one of the weapons that hung on the wall- a metal rod that belonged to one of the many piles of rubble in the dystopia.
Silver's breathing hitched as they realized what she was going to do. They tried to step back, raise their hands, or push her back with their powers.
But the rod hit her shoulder, knocking her to the ground. Diana raised the weapon again.
"YOU DON'T LEAVE!"
She brought it down.
Silver screamed as the metal made contact with his leg. The crack couldn't even be heard.
In a frantic mess, Silver tried clamoring away, clawing at the dirt floor and trying to drag themself away. The pain in their leg was blinding, a burning yet aching sensation that numbed everything else. They held up their hand again, a desperate attempt to defend themself.
Diana flinced, feeling Silver's power trying to push her away. But she didn't stop, bringing it down once more.
Another blood-curdling cry as her other leg became consumed by the pain.
He couldn't get away, still trying to shove Diana away. A sick sense of familiarity and nostalgic love prevented him from hurting her.
But Blaze stepped in, the floor beneath Diana lighting on fire. Diana screamed and dropped the rod and stumbled back. Blaze rushed to Silver and tried pulling them up, dragging them away from the survivors that did nothing.
Silver could feel nothing but the pain in her legs, still screaming in a frantic mess. She couldn't move, she couldn't escape this nightmare of betrayal and pain.
He had to escape. He needed to escape.
