Seokmin was going to bury himself alive. Here he was (at Jeonghan's insistence) sitting across from Joshua at the library, and he could feel the heavy silence over the two of them.

Why hadn't they kicked him from the chat? Now he knew that Seokmin liked him - not that he wasn't entirely and utterly obvious about it. Joshua knew from about three months ago that Seokmin was crushing on him, and even though he liked Seokmin too, he wasn't exactly ready to dive into a relationship.

After all, there was the chance Seokmin would just realise he didn't like Joshua anymore. Not that it was going to happen, but Joshua had plenty of fears like that.

"You shouldn't frown on your birthday," Seokmin blurted, seeing that Joshua's lips were downturned. And then immediately he cursed under his breath, because it was just gonna be even more awkward now.

But instead, Joshua laughed softly. "I guess. So it's my kneecaps that make you madly in love?"

"Joshua!" Seokmin immediately turned redder, making Joshua laugh harder. "It was an observation!"

"That you made. Of my kneecaps."

"Your legs are nice too!" Seokmin managed. "And your face and body and personality!"

That only made Joshua laugh harder, though he tried to hide his laughter by burying his face in his book. Seokmin felt himself smiling too, even though he wasn't quite sure what was so funny.

"You're cute Seok," Joshua managed, and Seokmin squeaked out a thanks, feeling himself go practically mute. "So, do you have to keep me out longer?"

"Yeah, until three in the afternoon." Joshua checked his phone and raised an eyebrow at the time.

"It's one."

"I know."

"Alright, can we go get something to eat then? I know they're going to have food and sweets, but I'm kinda hungry now."

"Sure." Seokmin said, following Joshua to the checkout counter and watching as he checked out his book.

Seokmin could tell you the exact moment he developed a crush on Joshua, and it was when he had walked into the apartment for the first time, talking to Vernon in English and then, Joshua had tripped and began to laugh.

That's when Seokmin fell head over heels.

"Seok, does coffee sound good?" Joshua asked, holding his book on his hands, and Seokmin nodded. "Okay good, let's go then."

Though it was freezing, Joshua opted out of a bus or taxi and instead began to walk, Seokmin waddling behind him.

"Jisoo, I'm cold," Seokmin whined after a minute, and Joshua looked back, grabbing Seokmin's arm to pull him close.

"We're close by at least." Joshua said, pretending not to be the same colour as a cherry - and not from the cold.

When they ducked into the Horizon café, Seokmin ordered them something while Joshua grabbed a seat, sighing at the warmth.

A few minutes later, Seokmin sat down across from him and Joshua raised his eyebrows as Seokmin shed his layers of coats. "So about my kneecaps -"

"Oh my god," Seokmin buried his face into the table, barely missing slamming his face into the strawberry shortcake he had gotten. "I'll talk about literally anything else."

"Vernon told me once you thought my shoulder blades are pretty."

"Anything but what the members have told you I like."

"I noticed you stare at my lips a lot."

"Oh god."

Despite knowing that his friends were planning a party, Joshua was still surprised when he came home and was greeted with a loud 'surprise.'

Seokmin said it too, making Joshua jump as well because the boy behind him was probably the loudest.

Then they promptly launched into the birthday song, and when they brought the cake out, Jeonghan giggled evilly before smashing Joshua's face into the cake, then screaming bloody murder as he raced away as Joshua grabbed a handful of cake and grabbed Jeonghan to smash it into his hair.

"Another normal day," Jihoon remarked as Soonyoung yelped at something catching on fire in the kitchen. "Yep, completely normal."

"Minghao! We need the fire extinguisher!"

"Coming," Minghao sighed, toting the fire extinguisher.

Joshua just rolled his eyes as he raced away from Jeonghan, who just had a handful of frosting and was racing after him. "I'm the birthday boy! You can't do this!"

"I'm your best friend I can do anything I want!"

As Joshua ran for his life, his phone, which was on the table, rang, and Seokmin opened the FaceTime without looking at it. "Hello?"

"Hello? You're not my son."

"Oh, hi Mrs Hong! I'm Seokmin." Seokmin said, smiling and waving, and Mrs Hong let out a gasp.

"Oh, you're the boy my son talks about all the time! He really likes you, to the point at once he sleep talked about kissing your birthmarks!"

"O-oh," Seokmin managed, turning red. "Well, I'm flattered -"

"Is that my mom?" Joshua shouted, whizzing past. "Seokmin, is that my mom?"

"Yeah!"

"Mom! Don't be embarrassing!"

"Did Joshua ever tell you about the time he cried over your jawline?"

"What?"

"Mom!"
