Prologue: Life for Them!
Once there was a young girl named Marinette. She lived with her mother, Sabine and her triplet sisters, Kagami and Mirelle. She was the type who loved the sand, the ocean, seashells, and just about everything there was to like about the beach. Her mother did not approve of this though for rather personal reasons.
Her sisters have their interest in life for example, Kagami does not like the beach because she thinks sand is just nasty, and saltwater, forget it! She does like art, and she is a few inches taller than Marinette and Mirelle. She is a mother's girl.
Mirelle likes the beach, but not as much as Marinette. She mostly enjoys time spent with her friends and her sisters. She wonders why Marinette and Kagami have no boyfriends. She does not have one either, but does have a boy she crushes on lately.
Sabine is a strict mother, who is overprotective of her three girls due to the supposed tragic death of their father soon after their birth. She also despises the beach and the merpeople who she holds responsible for her husband's death!
"Marinette, Mom says it is time to come downstairs!" Kagami calls out.
"Yeah, Marinette come on down, sis!" Mirelle says.
"Marinette, hurry up my daughter!" Sabine says.
"Sorry mother, I will be right there!" Marinette says. She heads downstairs to see what her mother wishes to speak to her about today.
Meanwhile, Adrien Agreste, a merman who lives with his aunt and uncle ever since the untimely death of his parents when he was a small child. He believes that land people, as the merman, and mermaids call the humans are dangerous. This is because he was taught they were the ones to murder his mother and father. He wants to wipe out all the humans to seek revenge on them for what they have done!
Adrien longs to know what is like outside the ocean but is afraid to check it out. He worries the land people will catch him and try to experiment on him. He does not think the risk is worth a visit to the surface. He has his best friend's Shelly the starfish, and Cori the goldfish to keep him company. He does not need anything else.
There was a deep dark family secret Adrien did not know. His father was a merman by birth, but his mother was a human. When his mother fell in his love with his father she found a special shell that turned her into a mermaid as long as she wore it. Eventually, she wore it all the time because of her love for the merman. His parents were secretly wed under the sea, because her parents were not happy she was obsessed with a fish boy.
Adrien's maternal grandparents took the shell away and she was heartbroken. This human girl would stop at nothing to be with her husband, she found a special spell that permanently turned her into a mermaid.
One year later, she found out she was pregnant. The baby was born healthy as ever, but because his father was a merman and his mother was a human by birth he was only a half merman. The baby was named Adrien because his mother found out it meant "man of the sea," in Greek. She thought this was appropriate because he was and is a merman after all.
Years later there was a battle between the merpeople and humans. Many lives were lost including the lives of Adrien's parents. As a result Adrien was raised by his aunt and uncle on his father's side of the family. Now, Adrien does not even know the full history of his parents. He just knows what his aunt and uncle lead him to believe.
"Adrien, where are you boy?" Adrien's uncle asked.
"Right here, uncle!" Adrien says.
"Told you he did not go far," His aunt says.
"Yes, well he is older now and I just want to make sure he does not get any bright ideas." His uncle says.
"Oh, dear! You worry far too much, Adrien hates the land people as much as us so he will not be caught by them." His aunt remarks.
"She is right, I will be careful. Besides, I will get the better of them before they do me. They killed my parents!" Adrien says with a anger far worse than his appetite for seaweed, mixed with shrimp.
