Who Says

Alexis ran into the moon light sky as the thought in her mind flood her brain like a parasite. She remembered her families words. She remembered her own words. She remembered the screams and the shouts and the very reason why she was running. She never wanted to go back. Not after what they said to her.

Flashback

"Alexis, grow up! You need to learn that you don't belong with that...that witch!" Alexis's mother said while she gave her daughter a hurtful glare. Alexis turned to her father, but he only gave her the same response. A parental and hurtful glare.

Her parents said the same thing over and over. 'You are not a Lesbian. You are a straight human being girl.'

It crushed her heart to know that her parents treated her this way because of who she was. She wanted to try and reason with her parents. Say that she can't change. Say that she's sorry for who she was. But her heart wouldn't let her.

Alexis may have been filled with sorrow and hurt, but she was also filled with bitter and rage. "Well then if you don't love me, then maybe I should just run away!" Alexis's words came out without thinking and she immediately regretted it when she did. Her mother looked at her with complete shock. "How could you...how could you betray us like this?"

"HOW COULD YOU! YOU TREAT ME LIKE A FOOL! I SHOULD'VE KILLED MYSELF WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE!" Alexis shouted at the top of her lungs and what she did after that made her want to really kill herself. Alexis brought her hand fast and hard onto her mother's face with the back of her hand. The moment she realized what she'd done, she was already out of the house.

End of Flashback

Now Alexis was at the Southern lake in her hometown of Atlanta. Just there. Staring at the water. Not wanting to look back on what she'd done. Part of her regretted that moment, but another part of her felt like she deserved it. She may have been her mother. Her savior. Her protector. But the fact that she couldn't accept her daughter for being a lesbian was completely selfish.

Alexis looked down at her neck. It was a golden heart-shaped necklace from her grandmother before she died. She turned over and on the back, it read, 'Be yourself little one.' Alexis held it close to her heart not wanting to let it go. "I try grandma. I really do." Alexis said as a small tear fell onto her necklace.

As Alexis looked at the moon, she decided to try and make herself feel better. Sense her girlfriend Mikela wasn't around, she needed to find a way to cheer herself up. Her mother use to sing her to sleep when she ever had a bad dream.

Alexis took a deep breath, a found a nice song for her to sing.

-------------------------

With Mikela, she was having problems of her own. Her family was forced to move because of a promotion from his job. Mikela was really happy for her father, but at the same time, was very sad.

She didn't wanna like her girlfriend Alexis behind. Her father doesn't know about there relationship so he has no idea what she's going through. Mikela eyed a little picture on her dresser. It was the picture of her and Alexis while they were at the park together. They were both laughing and kissing each others soft lips. It made Mikela smile at the memory. "I'm gonna miss you so much babe." she said to herself as she put the picture in her moving box.

Just as Mikela was about to turn in for the night, she heard a soft little singing voice coming from the Southern lake. She recognized it immediately. "Alexis?"

---------------------------

"I don't wanna be anybody else. You've made me insecure. Told me I wasn't good enough. But who are you to judge, when you're a diamond in the rough? I'm sure you got some things you'd like to change about yourself, but when it come to me. I don't wanna be anybody else." Alexis sang while her heart was still breaking inside of her. If bird can hear her voice, it would stop to listen until the finale.

"I'm no beauty queen, I'm just beautiful me." Then, Alexis stopped for a minute. She looked down at the water and saw her sad reflection. She wish she could change. But a part of her won't let her.

"Who says, who says you're not perfect? Who says you're not worth it? Who says you're the only one that's hurtin'?" Alexis almost fell into the water from that sudden voice. She sharply turned around afraid that it was her mother, but was soon relieved that it was Mikela.

Mikela walked slowly to Alexis in a very swayful motion. Alexis new what that meant. "Trust me, that's the price of beauty."

"Who says, you're not pretty? Who says you're not beautiful? Who says?" Mikela wrapped her arms around Alexis tightly and kissed her with her soft lips. Alexis held her arms around Mikela's neck and never wanted to let go.

After there kiss, the girls parted as a trail of smile was between their mouths. "I'm gonna be in Alabama tomorrow." Mikela said sadly as Alexis looked at her with hurt in her eyes. "Please don't go. I can't do it without you. My parents they...they found our pictures. All of them." Alexis said as she started to cry. Because Mikela gave a few pictures to Alexis, her parents found them in her backpack from school earlier. Alexis cried in Mikela's chest. "I can't do it Mikela. If you go, my parents will never want to see me again. My mother...I slapped my own mother Mikela."

Mikela held Alexis close as she brought her chin on top of her head. "Shhhh, it's okay. It's okay." Mikela said as she rubbed Alexis's little back. Alexis calmed down a bit and she wasn't crying anymore. Alexis looked up, her eyes facing Mikela. "I...wanna come with you."

Her words spat out like pure vomit. "Alexis, you can't."

"My parents are cruel and ruthless. I don't have anywhere to stay." Alexis said as she sighed. "It's okay though. The budge is probably too high for your family. I don't wanna ruin that if it makes you feel uncomfortable."

"No, no, it's not that. It's just...my dad. I haven't told him yet and I'm afraid that he'll..." Mikela didn't need to say anymore. Alexis knew exactly how it felt to be treated like trash. "You don't have to tell him about our relationship." She replied as Mikela placed her hand on Alexis's beautiful face. Mikela saw the hurt and anger in her eyes. "...I'll see what I can do. But you have to hurry. Our flight leaves tomorrow and we have to be there by dawn."

"You know I'm small, but I work fast." Alexis smirked as she puffed up in pride. Mikela thought it was so adorable she had to laugh. "Yeah, but you're still so cute." Mikela replied as she lightly tickled her girlfriend's belly which made her laugh. "Mikela hahahahahahahaha quit it hahahahahahahaha."

"Aw, but you're so cute." Eventually, Mikela did let her go and Alexis was now protecting her stomach. It only made Mikela chuckle. "Calm down. Now it's almost midnight, so we don't have a lot of time to pack."

The Next Day

"You sure you don't mind it father?"

"Of course not Mikela. Any friend of you is a friend of mine." Mikela's father replied as she gave him a smile and hugged him. "Thank you so much father."

"Hey, I'm here." Mikela backed out of the hug when she saw Alexis coming with her bags and luggage. "I talked to my parents and they said it was alright." Mikela saw the look in her eyes. Yeah, Alexis snuck out before her parents woke up. There was no way that her parents would agree to this. "Alright ladies. Let's get in the car." Mikela's father said as Mikela decided to sit in the back seat with Alexis.

Once Alexis put her luggage in the trunk of the car, she piled into the back seat with Mikela. "Your parents are asleep aren't they?" Mikela asked as Alexis looked at her with a hint of blush and embarrassment. "I uh...kinda knocked them out." Alexis smiled nervously as Mikela only laughed.

While her father wasn't looking, Mikela gave Alexis a quick kiss on the lips. "You're gonna love Alabama. I just know it." Mikela said as Alexis smiled and giggled like a child. God how Mikela loved her girlfriend.

While Alexis looked at the back window and noticed her parents outside, she ducked down. "Let's hurry up and get on the road please."

"You heard her dad. Punch it!" Mikela said out of cheer and with that, the two girls made there next beginning on there journey to Sweet Home Alabama.
