Red Turned Grey

The bloodshed was far greater than had ever been witnessed in the kingdom of Rosegandia. The deep crimson color smearing across the courtyard, walls, and floors was an ill sight to see as the pungent smell of the deceased began filling everyone's nostrils. One by one the dead bodies both from our kingdom and those opposing were moved to a place quite far out in the countryside where a mass burning of the bodies ceremony was held in honor for the deaths of those who fought in battle that day.
What remained of the healthy able bodied men worked consistently for a couple of days to completely rid the area of those who had passed. The women who didn't fight who were locked away and hidden for their safety within the castle were released and immediately begun a mass cleansing of the castle grounds.

The king, now officially filled in on all of the lost information was now beginning to lose his mind. His wife had been in the hands of a monster all of these years? She was alive? His only daughter was now headed straight for this villainous man? He had a step daughter? One birthed by his beloved wife herself? So many questions ran through his mind and the man became ill with worry. So much so that Nate waited on him hand and foot, slowly trying to convince the man that everything would be alright. Though of course, Nate knew that though things were still okay here and that they had survived the attack, what of the princess? What of her younger sister which made such an interesting traveling companion? Though the young sprout was barely eight years of age, she seemed to be extremely intelligent and seemed very capable of handling herself. Their mother taught both of them quite well, that can said with full confidence.

Jayden, after all said and done, had no shame or guilt in what he had done. He back stabbed the first born son of his greatest enemy. This boy, by his father's orders, ruined his white wedding with the bloody mess of war. Nate and him still agreed on what they had beforehand, Nate would stay with the king and carry out the duties there in the kingdom and hold the castle steady if there were to be any follow up attacks in the near or far future. Jayden almost immediately, regardless of the fatigue he felt from the long winded battle, he saddled up a horse, packed up his things, and set out to catch up with the princess.
