Pink Topaz was about to leave the Crystal Gems there before Steven came running down the stairs.

"Hey! You can't just leave them like that! We didn't do anything! Why did you do that!?" Steven asked with tears in his eyes as he tried to free Pearl.

"I saw it. Your plan was to capture me, then get information on me about Homeworld, and then when you were finished with me, you would shatter me. My mission was to find out you plan, then do anything that was necessary. I finished my mission. There is nothing else for me to do here. So I can now leave."

Steven was shocked at this statement.

"So you're just going to leave us?!" Amethyst's voice broke.

"What else would I do?" Pink Topaz asked in confusion.

"Can you please let them go?" Steven pleaded.

"...Why?" Pink Topaz wasn't exactly grasping the concept. And Steven was grasping at straws.

"Because they are my family." Steven pulled out the puppy dog eyes without realizing it.

"What's family?" Pink Topaz asked. Then the lightbulb went off for Steven.

"You want to know what family means?" Steven asked slyly.

"Yes." She answered with some uncertainty.

"Well if you let them go I'll show you." Steven bargained.

Pink Topaz thought about this. They were pretty easy to defeat. So if she needed to take them out again she could easily do so.

"Fine." She answered. She walked over to Pearl first. She reached out for the trap she set, but stopped. "But if I do let them go, no funny business." She looked at Ruby, Sapphire, and Amethyst for an answer. They looked at each other. The three of them nodded.

"Ok then." She proceeded with letting Pearl go. She touched the trap and Pearl unfroze and sat up. Pearl and Pink Topaz had a stare-off. Steven could tell that would not end well.

Then she pulled off the cuffs on Amethyst's arms. Amethyst rolled her wrists and rubbed them and stood up next to Pearl.

Pink Topaz walked over to Ruby's trap and touched the force field. She tapped in a code and the force field dropped, allowing Ruby to step out.

Then she walked over to Sapphire. Before she let her go she stared down Sapphire. She was disgusted that such a high ranking gem would be a part of a rebel group against Homeworld.

Then she finally let Sapphire out.

"Please re-fuse. I don't like looking at you two. I liked you better when you were that big one." Pink Topaz said to Sapphire.

Ruby got angry but Sapphire stopped her from starting another fight. And thy re-fused into Garnet. Who had a displeased face

"That's better." Pink Topaz stated.

Now it was very awkward. Who will break the silence? Who will say something?

"Um, Steven, was it?" Pink Topaz asked.

"Yeah?"

"Please show me this family. You were talking about."

"This is it." Steven said. He made his usual big, teethy grin. And everybody else smiled at his happiness. They all hugged.

"Do you have a family?" He asked Pink Topaz.
Pink Topaz looked down.

"Steven. Remember. Gems are made. They don't exactly have families." Garnet informed him.

"Oh. Right. Sorry Pink Topaz." She looked at him and just left.

"Hey! Where are you going?" Steven called after her.

"Well. I failed my mission. I let you go, and Blue Diamond would be very angry with me when she found out that I let the Crystal Gems go."

The Crystal Gems looked at each other.

"You can...uh...stay with us." Steven suggested.

"Steven!" Pearl whispered.

"Why do you want me to stay with you?"

"Well your ship is pretty much busted and you can't go back home. Where else would you go?"

"True. Ok. I'll stay. At least until something else comes up." Steven thought about this and what she could actually mean.

Sorry this chapter was kind of short. I was really busy this morning. I'll try to get the next chapter to be, well, at least 800 words. 😅
